An Analysis of the Patterns of Scientific Questions Generation among Elementary Science-Gifted and General Students (초등과학영재와 일반학생의 과학적 의문 생성 패턴 분석)

  • This study aims to identify and compare the patterns of scientific questions generation among elementary science-gifted and general students when conducting observational tasks. The pattern in generating scientific questions, which is distinguished from other types of scientific questions, is the manner that students generate a variety of types of questions in an inquiry process. To analyze the patterns in generating scientific questions, the task of observing dry grapes in soda pop, candlelight, and dyed celery were selected as suitable tasks. The subjects were 26 science-gifted students participating in a gifted education program and 27 general students in an elementary school in the same city. They were all sixth graders. The results of this study are as follows: First, the patterns of scientific questions generation among gifted students and general students during observational tasks were classified into five patterns: [Pattern 1] single, [Pattern 2] sequential, [Pattern 3] repetitive, [Pattern 4] circulative, [Pattern 5] repetitive, and circulative. Second, gifted students and general students presented all of the five patterns, but the frequency of the patterns indicated differences between the two groups. The gifted students primarily presented [Pattern 3] and [Pattern 5]. On the other hand, the general students mainly presented [Pattern 1], [Pattern 2], and [Pattern 3]. These results suggest that the ways of generating scientific questions are very much as important as the types of questions. Teachers can establish teaching-learning strategies for generating scientific questions appropriate to learner's characteristics.

The Comparison of Growth and Yield Characteristics among Principal Bulb Onion (Allium Cepa L.) Cultivars in Organic Growing (양파 유기재배에서 주요 품종간 생육 및 수량특성 비교)

  • This study is conducted in order to select the varieties that can supplement problems related with organic cultivation of bulb onion (Allium cepa L.). 15 test varieties were selected considering rural preference, breeding line, breeding company, open-pollinated cultivar, F1 hybrid cultivar of either domestic or foreign products. Onion varieties were assessed in 5 criteria which are : growth of plants in low temperature, freezing injury resistance, resistance to physiological disorder such as bolting and doubled bulb, lodging index during harvest, and marketable yield. As a result, e-Joeun, Katamaru, Pop, Art, Singihan among F1 hybrid cultivars and Changnyeongdaego, Seouldaego, and Chunjujunggo among open-pollinated cultivars were selected as more suitable varieties for the organic cultivation. Although Sunpower cannot be selected in varieties those are suitable for organic cultivation, it showed excellent traits in the bulb characteristics. No significant differences were found between open-pollinated cultivar and F1 hybrid cultivar except growth of plants in low temperature (plant sheath diameter) and lodging index during harvest (May 24th). And no significant differences were recognized between domestic varieties and foreign varieties except missing plant ratio after wintering.

Consumer Awareness and Institutionalization of Nutrition Labeling for Takju (탁주의 영양표시에 대한 소비자 인식도 조사 및 탁주 영양성분 표시 제도화 방안)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop measures for establishing and enforcing legal nutrition labeling for Takju based on results from consumer awareness surveys, statistical model development, and evaluation of nutrients. The statistical model developed with consumer survey results showed that consumers would like to know the nutrients they intake from drinking Takju, as their awareness about Takju was low. Specifically, consumers would like to see information regarding alcohol content, calories, carbohydrates, and saccharides on the label. Structural equations from the research model showed that consumers who had some knowledge of Takju also had positive thoughts of the nutrition fact labels for Takju. Evaluation of nutrients in Takju showed that the starch sources and other ingredients used in Takju fermentation did not influence nutrient facts, and nutrient concentrations also varied among the different Takju. In addition, this research suggests methods for consumers to make reasonable selections and to inform them of the nutrition fact labeling for Takju. Benners and pop-up were manufactured to promote voluntary participation of companies and to provide nutrition facts from Takju. Eventually, a measure was suggested to establish and enforce nutrition labeling, using results from consumer and nutrient surveys of Takju.

Types of Scientific Questions Generated in Observational Activity by Elementary Students and Preservice Teachers (초등학생들과 초등예비교사들이 관찰활동에서 생성한 과학적 의문의 유형)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify and compare the types of scientific questions which were generated by elementary students and preservice teachers on the tasks of scientific observation. To identify the types of scientific questions, 4 observing tasks, dry grapes contained in soda pop, candlelight, celery, and a rock were administered to 40 sixth elementary students and 20 elementary preservice teachers. And then, the types and frequency of scientific questions generated by them were compared. The results showed that the types of scientific questions were classified into conjectural questions, causal questions, predictive questions, methodical questions and applicative questions. Further more, subordinate questions to the above questions were classified into object exploration questions and object verification questions, explicans exploration questions and explicans verification questions, result exploration questions and result verification questions, example exploration questions and example verification questions. Subordinate questions did not come out from the methodical questions. The types of scientific questions generated by elementary students and preservice teachers were identical, however, there were differences in frequency. This study supports that elementary students also have cognitive capability to generate various scientific questions. The results of this study may be used as a teaching strategy for the guidance of the direction and the method of scientific inquiry.

Studies on Yukwa Processing Conditions and Popping Characteristics (유과 제조조건 및 팽화요인에 관한 연구)

  • Proper processing condition of Yukwa(oil popped rice snack) for mass production and pop-ping mechanism of it were tested with Shinsun (waxy, Japonica type rice) which was excellent for Yukwa making. Optimum steaming time of dough was 15 min among 4 to 60 min and reasonable moisture content of the dough before steaming was 4895 among 48 to 53% which had good and fine texture. Acceptable stirring time of steamed dough was not significantly different among 1 to 4 min, but no stirring with much larger volume was shown very poor and too soft in texture. At the simplification test of milling method, wet milling was better then dry milling in expansion rate and high temperature treatment of dough at 6$0^{\circ}C$ gave negative effect on their quality. Extending high temperature treatment of dough, reducing sugars in the dough increased and it might be caused of starch degradation. In addition of some other protein sources to dough, Yukwa quality were in proportion to the protein content of the beans. At the long term storage of the Yukwa base, moisture absorption was different depending upon RH of atmosphere and the quality of Yukwa was inferior by storage time. By addition of some alcoholic beverage, such as Makkoli, Soju and Chungju, expansion rate and their texture were somewhat improved by increasing addition amount of them from 15% to. 30% on dough (w/w).

A Microgenetic Study on Scientific Question Generating Ability (과학적 의문 생성 능력에 대한 미시발생적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to apply the microgenetic analysis method for development of information on an individual's change in a certain area during a consistent time period to seek change in scientific questions that elementary school students create. The study subjects were six 6th graders in I elementary school located in Kyunggido with the students conducting 6 sessions of two observational tasks about dry grapes contained in soda pop and candlelight. Information were collected through students' scientific question development paper, record of field observation and interviews. The results of this study are as follows: first, the number of scientific questions that the elementary school students developed showed a tendency for reduction; second, the changes in type of scientific questions bring different results, which depend on a particular characteristic of the tasks; third, By observing pattern changes in scientific questions of each individual, it was found that different results show for each time for the same task, which in other words means that there exists variability within an individual. Also, variability between individuals were shown by confirming that the change pattern for each person were diverse. Thus, the result of this study shows the following implications on education of scientific question development. For students, scientific question development mean more opportunities to increase the process of developing and acquiring knowledge. Therefore, it is important to create situations where one can come up with scientific questions. In addition, analysis in tasks' nature when selecting tasks would be necessary to develop diverse scientific questions.

A Study on the Name of East Sea in the Francophone Media Source (불어권 언론 매체의 동해 표기 명칭 고찰)

  • The name of a place represents the social and political power relations as well as showing a certain physical space. In particular, the East Sea is not only a representative name of areas represent our country, but also the name of place being in competition with the Sea of Japan internationally. Korea is committed in many ways to spread the name of East Sea in the international community, and gradually expand its name power. The purpose of this study was to investigate the names used in the newspapers and broadcasting in Francophone countries except France by analyzing the newspaper articles and broadcasting contents, and to illuminate how the names of the East Sea produced in France, and the discussion about the names were diffused in Francophone countries and what kind of influence they had on those countries. This study selected Algeria in North Africa, Belgium and Luxembourg in West Europe, and Quebec in Canada for the research areas. As a result, while Algeria in North Africa and Luxembourg are showing inhospitality to the name East Sea, Belgium and Quebec are taking a flexible attitude toward this name. In general, most Francophone countries are provided with press releases from AFP in France. Even in same article provided by AFP, The result shows that some media stick to use the name Sea of Japan solely, and others demonstrate a will to use both name East Sea and Sea of Japan simultaneously. This study was able to show that the diffusion and spread of the place name was significantly influenced by social, political interests and powers, the mess geopolitics in pop cultural materials.

Seasonal Variations of Water Quality and Periphyton in the Cheonggyecheon (청계천의 수질과 부착조류의 계절적 변동)

  • The seasonal variations of water quality and periphyton were investigated in an artificial stream (the Cheonggyecheon Stream) flowing through the Seoul City. TP showed a longitudinal gradient: 10 to $59{\mu}gP\;L^{-1}$ in the upper stream sites, and 15 to $90{\mu}gP\;L^{-1}$ in downstream sites. POP was a major form of TP in the water, occupying over 60%, while the proportion of DIP was less than 10% except for St. 4. N/P atomic ratio ranged from 78 to 554, which implies phosphorus would limit algal growth more than nitrogen. The biomass of periphyton did not show much difference among sites, and it was relatively higher in spring and fall season $(10\sim20{\mu}gChl\;{\alpha}cm^{-2})$ and lower in August $(<5{\mu}gChl\;{\alpha}cm^{-2})$, possibly because biofilms were washed off during spates of summer monsoon. Cyanobacteria was the dominant taxon in the periphyton community throughout the year. The periphyton standing crop can be classified as a nuisance level. It seems that phosphorus level is sufficiently high even though the input water is treated chemically, and modest water velocity $(20\sim90cm\;sec^{-1})$ and rocky bottom provide optimal conditions for periphyton growth.

대면적 플라즈마 공정에서 자장이 내장형 선형 유도결합형 플라즈마 특성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

  • 최근 높은 해상도의 평판 디스플레이 장치 특히 차세대 TFT-LCD를 개발하기 위해서는 건식식각공정의 개발이 필수 불가결하며 이는 플라즈마 공정장치의 대면적화가 가능해야 한다. 따라서 산업계는 이러한 제조 조건에 알맞는 대면적 플라즈마 반응기 개발을 추구하고 있다. 이를 위해서는 건식식각공정의 개발이 필수 불가결하며 이를 위해선 플라즈마 공정장 치의 대면적화가 가능해야 한다. 이러한 대면적 공정을 위해서는 낮은 공정압력, 고밀도, 높은 플라즈마 균일도가 요구된다. 또한 이러한 대면적 고밀도 플라즈마에의 적용을 위하여 새로운 유도결합형 플라즈마 소오스의 개발이 진행되고 있으며, 안정적인 300mm웨이퍼 공정을 위하여 여러 형태의 안테나가 연구되어지고 있다. 그러나 차세대 TFT-LCD에 적용 가 능하게끔 기존의 ICP 소오스를 직접적으로 대면적화 하는데 있어서는 안테나의 인덕턴스의 값이 키지며, 유전물질의 두께 증가 및 그에 따른 재료비의 상슴에 의해 그 한계점을 나타 내었다. 본 연구에서는 차세대 TFT-LCD 및 POP 대면적 공정에 적용 가능한 고밀도 플라즈마를 발생시키기 위해서 내장형 유도결합형 선형 안테나를 사용하였다. 내장형 유도결합형 선형 안테나가 가지고 있는 고유의 정전기적 결합효과를 최소화시키기 위해 직사각형모양의 플라즈마 챔버(830mm*1,020mm)에서 영구자석을 사용하였다. 영구자석을 사용하여 외부자 장을 인가하였을 때가, 그럴지 않은 때보다 RF 안테나에 걸리는 코일의 전압을 낮춰주었으며, 영구자석의 배열에 따라 코일의 인덕턴스의 값이 크게 변함을 알 수 있었다. 그리고, 최적화된 자장의 배열은 플라즈마의 이온밀도를 증가시켰으며, 플라즈마 균일도 또한 10% 이 내로 유지됨을 알 수 있었다. 따른 식각 메커니즘에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. $CF_4/Cl_2$ gas chemistry 에 첨 가 가스로 $N_2$와 Ar을 첨 가할 경 우 텅 스텐 박막과 하부 layer 간의 etch selectivity 증가는 관찰되지 않았으며, 반면에 첨가 가스로 $O_2$를 사용할 경우, $O_2$의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 etch s selectivity 는 계속적으로 증가렴을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이는 $O_2$ 첨가에 따라 형성되는 WOF4 에 의한 텅스텐의 etch rates 의 감소에 비하여, $Si0_2$ 등의 형성에 의한 poly-Si etch rates 이 더욱 크게 감소하였기 때문으로 사료된다. W 과 poly-Si 의 식각 특성을 이해하기 위하여 X -ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)를 사용하였으며, 식각 전후의 etch depth 를 측정하기 위하여 stylus p pmfilometeT 를 이용하였다.X> 피막이 열처리 전후에 보아는 기계적 특성의 변화 양상은 열역학적으로 안정한 Wurzite-AlN의 석출에 따른 것으로 AlN 석출상의 크기에 의존하며, 또한 이러한 영향은 $(Ti_{1-x}AI_{x})N$ 피막에 존재하는 AI의 함량이 높고, 초기에 증착된 막의 업자 크기가 작을 수록 클 것으로 여겨진다. 그리고 환경의 의미의 차이에 따라 경관의 미학적 평가가 달라진 것으로 나타났다.corner$적 의도에 의한 경관구성의 일면을 확인할수 있지만 엄밀히 생각하여 보면 이러한 예의 경우도 최락의 총체적인 외형은 마찬가지로
