이 연구는 KDC 제6판 심령연구 및 비학, 초심리학 분야의 용어와 주기사항의 보완에 대한 개선방안을 제시하기 위한 목적을 지닌다. 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 KDC와 DDC 등 주요 분류의 심령연구 및 비학, 초심리학 분야 분류체계를 상호 비교하였으며, 심령연구 및 비학, 초심리학 분야의 KDC 변천과정과 분류된 자료를 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 심령연구 및 비학, 초심리학 분야의 분류특성과 문제점을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 주기의 미흡, 용어의 부적절함 등으로 인한 문제점으로 분류의 혼동이 있었음을 알 수 있었으며 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 이 연구에서는 187의 각 하위 항목에 주기의 추가, 187.2, 187.3, 187.4, 187.5에 있어서 용어 변경 등의 해결방안을 제시하였다.

Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) was first published in 1876. Since its first edition it has been revised, on an average, 6 years, and now it has become the widely used library classification system of which the scheme was translated in various languages. The purpose of this study is to find out the chief causes for the development of the DDC. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: 1. It allows materials to be shelved in a relative location as the collection expands. before the DDC was introduced, libraries used a fixed location for materials in which each item was assigned to a certain location set aside for a subject. 2. It is a practical system. The fact that it has survived many storms in the past hundred years and is still the most widely used classification scheme in the world today attests to its practical value. 3. The pure notation of arabic numerals is universally recognizable. People from any cultural or language background can adapt to the system easily. 4. The use of the decimal system enable infinite expansion and sub-division. And it has adaptability for use in libraries of various size and kinds because of its hierarchically expressive notation which permits varying degrees of inclusiveness and exclusiveness within its decimal structure. 5. The notation is simple and easily understood. The self-evident numerical sequence facilitates filing and shelving. And the mnemonic nature of the notation helps the readers to memorize and recognize the class numbers. 6. The relative index brings together different aspects of the same subject scattered in different disciplines. 7. We can avail of DDC numbers for specific titles easily because of its use by many central bibliographic services. 8. It is being continuously revised by a permanent office established in the library of congress in 1933. This office has been responsible for editing all editions of the DDC since the 16th (1958). And the periodic revision at regular intervals ensures the currentness of the scheme. 9. It has adaptability both for conventional (manual) shelf or classed catalogue analysis and also, through its meaningful nation, for retrieval through mechanization and computerized systems.

본 연구는 음식 문화 분야에 관한 한국십진분류법(KDC)의 역사적 발전을 고찰하고 음식 문화의 다양한 주제를 보다 더 효과적으로 분류할 수 있도록 KDC를 중심으로 개선 방향을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 KDC 안에 반영된 음식 문화 관련 기호와 항목명의 변천 과정과 더불어 KDC 5판으로 실제 음식 문화 관련 자료를 분류할 때의 문제점을 짚어본 후에 음식 문화 분야를 위한 KDC 5판의 개선 사항을 제시하였다. 음식 문화 분야에 있어서 KDC의 문제점은 분류항목명 및 포함주기의 부족으로 한식 관련 분류항목의 부족과 다양한 국가별 음식 특성이 반영되지 않았고, 색인 대상 및 구조가 검색하기 어려우며, 주기의 내용이 부족하고, 서양식 분류항목명을 번역하였기 때문에 우리나라 음식체계에 부합하지 않았다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 외국의 대표적인 분류 체계에 나타난 자국의 음식 문화와 외국의 음식 문화에 대해 비교하면서 분류항목명 및 포함주기의 내용 확장, 색인 대상 및 구조 변경, 주기의 상세화, 서양식 분류항목명의 변경을 제안하였다.

인터넷이 제공하는 학술정보자원은 풍부하지만 그 중에서 이용자들이 자신에게 필요한, 좋은 정보를 찾기는 쉽지 않다. 체계적으로 정리되어 있지 않기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 도서관에서 오랫동안 이용해온 분류체계인 DDC(Dewey Decimal Classification)을 이용하여 학술분야 인터넷정보자원을 검색할 주제별 디렉토리 검색엔진을 설계하였다. 이 검색엔진을 설계함에 있어서 대개념에서 소개념으로 특정주제를 세분해가는 DDC의 '체계적 배열'에 따라 분류코드를 설계하였고, DDC의 '상관색인'을 이용하여 자동 문서분류사전을 작성하였다.

이 논문은 KDC 제5판에서 개정된 철학류의 항목들에 대해 분석한 것이다. 기존의 KDC 제1판부터 제4판까지 철학분류에서는 어떤 내용들이 전개되고 개정되고 변화되어왔는지 항목별로 비교한 결과 일부 용어의 변경이나 분류기호의 이동, 항목의 신설 및 삭제가 있긴 했지만 KDC 제1판의 기본틀에서 크게 벗어나지 못하였음을 알 수 있었다. KDC 제5판에서는 형이상학과 인식론을 수정 전개하여 동위항목으로 배정하였고, 심리학 중에서는 자료가 늘어나는 양성심리, 발달심리, 상법 운명판단, 응용심리학을 확장 전개하였으며, 윤리학 도덕철학부분을 수정 전개하는데 역점을 두어 살펴본 것이다.

이 연구는, KDC 5판에서 문제점들이 다수 발견되어 시스템으로서의 문헌분류법에 부합하는 표준적인 조건을 제시한 다음, KDC 5판을 대상으로 각종 표준적인 조건에의 부합 여부를 자세하게 진단하여 발견된 구체적인 문제점들에 대한 합당한 처방을 마련 제시함으로써 향 후 KDC 발전에 일조하기 위한 것이다. 고찰대상으로는 기본적인 장치임에도 불구하고 제외된 것들(내부보조표, 우선순위표, 해설, 신 구대비표 등)을 비롯하여 본표, 조기표(공통보조표), 주기, 색인, 양자택일 등을 분석대상으로 삼았으며, 나아가 오류, 표기부적절, 누락, 표현일관성결여 및 삭제해야 할 부분 등도 바로 잡고자 한다.

KDC(Korea Decimal Classification), which is representative literature classification scheme in Korea, was revised and published in 1996. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a reform measure after detecting out issues and problems associated with the KDC 4th ed. through the result of lecture. The outline of suggestions are as follows : (1) There are not all items of auxiliary tables in relative index. (2) Auxiliary table 2 (Geographic Areas) is not detailed. (3) The manual for the shake of efficient usage is nonexistent and notes are poor in content. (4) Sufficient minimax and alternatives must be setted up for efficiency usage. (5) Some parts of the main schedule are disorder and not logical.

이 연구는 토목공학 분야의 KDC, NDC, DDC 분류체계와 한국학술진흥재단의 연구분야분류표, 한국과학재단의 과학기술연구분야분류의 분류체계를 비교 분석한 후, 이를 토대로 KDC 토목공학 분야의 분류체계를 개선할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 시도하였다. 분석결과 KDC 제5판의 토목공학 분야는 학문발전의 추세를 반영하는 분류 항목의 추가, 토목공학 기초이론에 관한 등위류 분류용어의 적절한 전개, 세부 주제의 추가 전개, 분류기호, 한글 및 영문표기의 오류, 분류항목의 상관색인 누락 등에 대한 개선이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구에서는 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위한 개선 방안을 제시하였다.
