본 연구의 목적은 현재 컴퓨터파일의 편목에 사용되는 목록규칙을 비교하여 보면서 우리나라의 컴퓨터 파일에 대한 목록규칙의 발전에 기초를 제공하고자 한 것이다. 이를 위하여 먼저, 컴퓨터 파일의 특성과 종류에 대해 살펴보고, 그 다음에 컴퓨터파일 목록규칙의 근간을 이루는 AACR2R과 ISBD(ER)을 대상으로 기술의 정보원부터 주기사항까지 국제표준서지기술의 각 사항별로 비교 분석하여 컴퓨터파일에 대한 편목 규칙의 발전과정을 살펴보고, 이들 변화의 내용들을 살펴보았다.

이 연구는 한국에서의 목록규칙의 발전과정을 개관하면서 표준화의 과정을 살펴 본 후 가장 최근에 개정하여 출판된 한국목록규칙 4판을 중심으로 이 규칙에 반영되어 있는 중요한 몇 가지 목록의 유용성 문제를 분석하였다. 목록의 유용성 고려라는 측면에서 KCR4는 저록에 포함되는 책임표시의 수에 원칙적으로 제한을 가하지 않은 점, 기술 대상자료의 유형을 제시한 점, 자료의 서지적 특성을 제시하는 기술사항을 추가한 점, 단행본뿐만 아니라 다양한 유형의 자료를 대상으로 하는 통합 목록규칙이라는 점등은 긍정적인 반면 접근점의 선정과 형식을 전거에서 처리하도록 미룬 점, 통일표목의 개념을 배제한 점등은 부정적인 면으로 분석되었다.

이 연구는 국내외 목록규칙의 흐름과 함께 KCR4의 특성과 문제점을 분석하고, 아울러 KCR4의 개정과 관련하여 목록전문가의 설문내용 등을 종합적으로 분석하여 한국목록규칙의 개정방향을 제안 하려는 것이다. 연구결과를 요약하면 아래와 같다. 첫째, 파리원칙 이후 최근의 국제적인 목록규칙 흐름은 국제목록원칙규범과 FRBR을 기반으로 하고 있는 RDA로 집약되어 있다. 둘째, 2003년 KCR4가 제정된 이래 KCR4는 제정 당시부터 전거제어 등에 관한 규정이 미비한 미완성의 규칙이었으며, 표목의 선정과 형식을 별도로 규정하지 않음으로 인해 도서관 현장에서는 혼란과 어려움이 있어 어떠한 형태로든 KCR4가 개정되어야 한다. 셋째, KCR4의 개정에 대한 목록 전문가의 의견을 조사한 결과, 대부분이 RDA와 같은 최근의 국제목록규칙의 흐름을 수용하고, 또한 접근점에 대한 내용추가, 전거제어를 위한 세부규칙 마련, RDA의 대폭적인 수용과 함께 자료유형별이 아닌 기술요소별로 규칙을 개정해야 한다고 응답하여 이러한 점이 개정에 반영되어야 한다.

이 연구는 한국도서관협회 목록분과위원회에서 주관하여 마련한 韓國目錄規則 4版(草案)에 대한 문제점을 도출하고 그 개선책을 제시한 일종의 제안이다. KCR4(草案) 전체를 대상으로 하지 않고 규칙 전체에 공통적으로 영향을 미치는 주요 부분인 '제1부 기술' 가운데 '제0장 총칙', '제1장 기술총칙', '제2장 단행본'과 마지막 章인 '제2부 접근점(제21장 접근점에 관한 규칙)'만을 검토대상으로 하여 살펴 본 결과, 용어상의 문제점, 카드목록규칙에만 적용되는 내용, 문맥상 잘못된 부분, 내용이 서로 상반된 부분, 내용에 일관성이 없는 부분, 그리고 규칙조문으로는 부적절한 부분 등 많은 곳에서 문제점이 발견되어 일일이 개선책을 제시하였고 마지막으로 미래에 대비하여 추가로 요망되는 사항을 제언하였다.

The article sets forth a problem on international exchange and cooperation In the field of library and information science in the People's Republic of China from engles of academic and publication's exchange, It points out international exchange and cooperation between China and Korea should be developed from international exchange of publications and interlibrary loan to openning up standard, authority and current database on publications step by step. China and Korea should supply the database to all of the world, In order to come up to shared resources, the author has compared the Descriptive Cataloguing Rules for Western Language Materials, and the Bibliographical Description for Monographes with the Korean Cataloguing Rules for Description, and analyzed their different. In the end, the article presents the result that the documentation standardzation is the only way of accomplishing shared resources in the world from indentity of description for publications and materials, and unity of cataloguing rules.

The purpose of this study is to review the historical development of British Museum Library and its cataloging rules which really marked the beginning of the modern era of cataloguing. The results of the study can be summarized as follows (1) Sir Anthony Panizzi was the most creative force in the history of the British Museum Library. He devoted himself to the formation of the British Museum Library cataloging policy and the compilation of printed catalogues. Moreover, he laid down the sound acquisitions policy and the vigorous a n.0, pplication of the copyright deposit privilege. He designed a great circular reading room and raised standards of library service and administration. (2) British Museum Library Cataloging Rules : 1. are notable for their pioneering efforts-this was the first major catalogue code-and for their influence on all subsequent codes. 2. introduced the concept of corporate authorship but has never dealt with problem very satisfactory. 3. went to great lengths to avoid title entry. 4. used a number of form heading, example for, ACADEMIES, PERIODICAL PUBLICATION, EPHEMERIDES, CATALOGUES etc.

본고에서는 한국목록규칙 제4판 초안에 있어서, 제8장 "정지화상자료"의 목록규칙을 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위해, International Standard Bibliographic Description for Non-Book Materials(1987), Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd ed. (1998), 그리고 일본목록규칙(1994)을 중심으로 비교하였다. 이에, 다양한 형태를 띄고 있는 정지화상자료에 있어서, KCR 4판의 "정지화상자료" 목록규칙이 목록규칙 사용자나 자료를 찾는 이용자로 하여금 편리하게 이용할 수 있도록 서지사항을 일관성있게 규정되어 있는지에 관하여 분석해 보고자 한다. 그리하여 초안을 더 수정·보완하여, KCR 4판을 발행하는데 있어서 조금이나마 도움이 되고자 한다.

Because of the changes made in the modes of cataloguing and classification in its long history, the present catalogue of the National Central Library has become complicated and provides an inadequate guide to its collection. There can be no doubt that this is a serious deficiency in a closed access library since materials housed in the library are virtually inaccessible to unskilled readers. The whole breakdown of the efficiency of the catalogue is emminent and will ultimately create the most serious problems for the library. The main purpose of this survey is: (a) to identify problem areas created by the frequent changes in the cataloguing and classifying principles in the library and (b) to grope a rational direction for the future development. Analysing the various classification schemes and cataloguing rules adopted in processing materials (mainly books) in the library, the following conclusions have been made. A. The library adopted five different clasification schemes in different periods, of which KDCP was used for the most part of its collection. KDCP is recommended to use for the future colletion. A classification development office is recommended to be established within the library, of which the main function is to revise the KDCP in collaboration with the appropriate committee of the Korean Library Association. B. The present practice in the library is to apply three different cataloguing rules and two different author notation tables to the Oriental, classical, and Western collections. Efforts should be made to find out an efficient system so that this variety is simplified. An alphabetical index should be added to the classified catalogue, and improvements are required in the Japanese collection. C. The technical services division is inadequately staffed. The staff should be sufficiently numerous and specially qualified. D. The present financial support for the technical services of the library is inadequate. Sufficient financial provision should be made to ensure the effective work. E. A feasibility study should be carried out to develop a computer processing system for providing machine-readable catalogue records on magnetic tape for use by the library community in Korea.

이 연구는 IFLA에서 연구되고 있는 '전거데이터의 기능상의 요건'(FRAD)을 FRAR에서의 변화 양상을 중심으로 명확히 이해하기 위한 것이다. 또한 FRAD가 RDA와 MARC21에 끼친 영향을 분석함으로 FRAD와 관련 규칙과의 관계를 정립하였고, 전거제어를 위한 IFLA의 활동에 비추어 국내 전거제어 관련 목록 규칙과 포맷, 주요 전거DB구축 현황을 검토하였다. 이런 분석을 토대로 국내 전거제어 표준을 위한 고려사항으로 접근점제어방식, 적용범위 확대, 개체-관계 모형과 같은 새로운 접근방식의 도입, 국가서지작성기관의 역할 강화 등을 살펴보았다. 이 연구결과는 전거제어를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

본 연구는 새롭게 제정된 한국목록규칙 4판 초안 중에 고서목록규칙의 내용을 분석하여 수정이 요구되는 부분의 발견과 그 대안을 모색함으로써 한국목록규칙이 도서관 현장의 자료조직과정에서 보다 효율적으로 사용되는데 일조하기 위하여 작성되었다. 그 결과 보완되어야 할 사항과 11개의 수정이 요구되는 사항을 제시하였다.
