  • Since the mid 2000s, a large number of Chinese students have come to Korea to study. This study investigates the research trends of Chinese students studying in the fashion field in Korea. For this study, a total of 235 graduate degree theses on fashion written by Chinese students in Korea (from 1992 to 2014) were collected through the RISS website. Various keywords were used to find the theses, including fashion, clothing and costume. Factors used in the analysis of these theses were the number of theses per year, major of the student, research trend of specific areas and research target area. The results are as follows: Most of the theses were written by Fashion/Clothing majors (141 theses/60% of the total), while other majors - such as Business Administration, International Trade, Economics, Journalism/Broadcasting, and Movie Entertainment - made up the rest (94/40%). The theses researched in the study were focused on a specific field in fashion. Fashion Marketing/Socio-Psychology of Clothing was the most popular field (113/48.1%), and Fashion Design/Aesthetics came in second (87/37.0%). Other topics, such as Costume History, Clothing Construction/Textile Science, Costume Culture, followed. Chinese student's research target area was very limited, with Chinese Study being the most popular area, and Korean and Chinese Comparative Study coming in second.

  • This study aimed to present the possibilities that a variety of conversions can be made in terms of the spatial function through the situation analysis and in-depth case studies, focusing on the cases of the conversion of historic buildings. Literature analysis and case analysis technique were conducted as the research methods. For the literature analysis, the researcher selected 105 cases of conversion-type buildings by recombining and reanalyzing them to space functional changes; the SPSS PC+ 18.0 program was used as the analysis tool to conduct a frequency analysis and cross analysis. In-depth analysis was conducted to investigate the overview of the architecture, building history, spatial functional changes, space program, conservation value, and the conserved parts by selecting 9 cases in Korean and foreign countries that have been recently converted through literature analysis and the results of the study were as follows. 1) As a result of analyzing the changes in function, the highest percentage of the cases was conversion into the cultural function (63.8%). 2) There were cases for conversion into the commercial function, business function, accommodation function and educational function besides cultural function. 3) As a result of spatial program, the attempts to increase the utilization of the building generally by applying the complex space with more than two functions could be seen. 4) The buildings with historical and architectural value were conserved most of the outer wall and some portion of internal parts; the buildings with symbolic value were renovated largely, while preserving symbolic parts; and the buildings with practical value were renovated in a way that maintains the structural parts while changing the interior space to be suitable for their function.

  • This paper compares the underpricing of IPOs listed on KOSADQ with that of IPOs listed on KSE. When we consider the last day of upper price limit of IPOs, IPOs on KSE show higher initial excess return than IPOs on KOSDAQ. And AR2 which is the abnormal return based on the stock price of the last day recording upper limit after listing, IPOs on KOSDAQ exhibit larger abnormal return than IPOs on KSE. Our study also reports that the long-term performance of IPOs in two markets does not show any difference. That is, IPOs of both markets under performed in the long-run. The wealth relatives of IPOs are a little higher than market portfolio. We explored the reasons of the underpricing of IPOs in both markets through the multiple regression analysis. The business history is examined asstatistically significant variable to explain the underpricing.

  • Our society witnesses the rapid progress in the areas of politics, economy, society and culture in the process of national modernization since 1960s, which in turn as a reverse function gets to contract a societic pathology, totally lowering the security level of citizens' lives owing to various violent crimes like hostage commotions and murders with rifles and deadly weapons. what is the main reason for that? That may be partly because the chief police force concentrates on the current situation resulting in the vacuum of the public peace. However, the main reason is that the police fall short of man-power and equipments even if the whole police power were put to use in preventing and quelling the crimes. That is true not only of Korea but also of the advanced countries like the U.S.A., England and Japan. We realize that these advanced countries have higher level of security in every individual's life and property than Korea because their progress of the private guard systems can fill in a vacuum of the shortage of the police power, Therefore, we should without delay internationalize our private guard systems expecting the widely opening of the guard service markets in the age of Uruguay Round. To do this, we need to change our ideas for fostering the policy of the private guard from passive defense ideas into positive aggressive ones. Our police should urgently set up a plan to pursue the orientation of vision that we should dispatch our private guards overseas before foreign guards rush into our markets. Accordingly it goes without saying that the private guard group should distinguish their services from the public services initiating their own theory and strategy of private guard services and also readjust themselves between the public duties and the private services with the study of minimizing the reverse function of the private guard systems. The history criminal justice has always shown that the criminal system progressed at the initiative of the civil factor in case its demand and supply do not make both ends meet. Nevertheless, in the process the power of the government never weakens, rather it is built up in general. In conclusion, the necessity of the build-up of the private guard services must duly be acknowledged by the police as well as by the business which has its unique sphere within the criminal justice instead of as the suplemtary services of the simple the police power on the long-term basis. The purpose of the private guard services can be largely classified into the two categories; first it means the function to prevent the crimes against the citizens and secondly to enhance the national interest as an increasing mammoth business with a worldly competition capacity. The police has an absolute responsibility that they should protect the modem public in general from feeling the crisis of the personal threat, tension, anxiety and nervousness. In short, if we develop the complete private guard system to guarantee the societic atmosphere for all citizens, keep the public peace, and protect all citizens' lives and properties, we will sure enjoy a beautiful land, a wholesome society and a happy life in goodharmony of law and order.

  • Recently, the notion of "increasing returns" has been popular not only in academia but also in industries. This notion has been drawn from prior research on network effects, which showed that the market evolution would lock in to a dominant technology. However, the long history of technological change has rarely shown the possibility of lock-in to an inferior technology. How could the market with network effects make transition between incompatible technologies regimes by escaping the lock-in? This paper analyzes the effectiveness of R&D and technological choice to investigate the sources of the dynamic capabilities in the presence of network effects and uncertain technological progress. Why does the market sometimes work against a radical technology, and why, at other times, does the market operate in favor of it? This study is to address this question by modeling the situation of two competing technologies in the presence of network effects. The numerical analysis indicates that the evolution strategy of compatibility is more likely to increase the chance of firm growth when a majority of customers are not power users or when demand for an old technology has been escalated. But when there are a substantial number of power users or when a new technology emerges before such an escalation of demand, the revolution strategy of compelling performance is more likely to be effective. The result suggests a potential mechanism for overcoming the lock-in problem. When the market exhibits some inertia to an obsolete technology, which is reinforced by the increasing customer value with respect to backward compatibility, the survival of a new technology depends on power users. When many power users are cultivated by firms' technological efforts regarding the new technology, the market is less likely to lock into an obsolete technology. Indeed, in the workstation market, where power users characterize much of the demand, innovators like Sun successfully switched to the RISC architecture.

  • The study reviewed the content and the meaning of the present Yeoju Palkyung(eight scenery) through analyzing and interpreting the Palkyung poems, old maps and paintings, and classic materials transmitted in Yeoju area, and investigated the landscape structure of the area around the Cheongshimru(淸心樓: pavilion). On the other hand, many Palkyung poems and Noojeongjeyong(樓亭) poems illustrating the Cheongshimru as the view point or the objective have clarified the scenic excellence when the Cheongshimru is the view point. The Yeoju Palkyung viewed from the Cheongshimru was described as constructing all around allocation structure, and six scenes are categorized as a distant view of the visual influence while the 7th scene Ireungdogyeon and the 8th scene Pasagwau are a psychologically influencing landscapes. The panoramic composition of the Yeoju Palkyung at the Cheongshimru is interpreted as the Seunggyeong distribution considering Palchaejigyeongsaek(八采之景色), where main viewpoint is the Cheongshimru and the distant landscape is Paldaejangrim. The reputation of the Cheongshimru, the central place of the Yeoju Palkyung, is confirmed by the technique of scene processing describing a various way of illustrating landscapes such as near view, distant view, pulling view and collecting view. The restoration of Cheongshimru and Paldaesup(八大藪) currently undertaken is the essential business for the full recovery of the Yeoju Palkyung, which will be not only for physical restoration but also for the shortcut to revitalize the history and the spirit of Yeoju. Furthermore, the business direction should be reconsidered to truly understand the meaning, the value, and the structure of the Yeoju Palkyung to ensure the pursuit of the sustainability aiming at the project "Local attractions", one of the Namhangnag Four rivers project of the ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.

  • Objective: To assess the incremental prognostic value of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) in comparison to a clinical risk model (Framingham risk score, FRS) and coronary artery calcium score (CACS) for future cardiac events in ischemic stroke patients without chest pain. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 1418 patients with acute stroke who had no previous cardiac disease and underwent CCTA, including CACS. Stenosis degree and plaque types (high-risk, non-calcified, mixed, or calcified plaques) were assessed as CCTA variables. High-risk plaque was defined when at least two of the following characteristics were observed: low-density plaque, positive remodeling, spotty calcification, or napkin-ring sign. We compared the incremental prognostic value of CCTA for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) over CACS and FRS. Results: The prevalence of any plaque and obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) (stenosis ≥ 50%) were 70.7% and 30.2%, respectively. During the median follow-up period of 48 months, 108 patients (7.6%) experienced MACE. Increasing FRS, CACS, and stenosis degree were positively associated with MACE (all p < 0.05). Patients with high-risk plaque type showed the highest incidence of MACE, followed by non-calcified, mixed, and calcified plaque, respectively (log-rank p < 0.001). Among the prediction models for MACE, adding stenosis degree to FRS showed better discrimination and risk reclassification compared to FRS or the FRS + CACS model (all p < 0.05). Furthermore, incorporating plaque type in the prediction model significantly improved reclassification (integrated discrimination improvement, 0.08; p = 0.023) and showed the highest discrimination index (C-statistics, 0.85). However, the addition of CACS on CCTA with FRS did not add to the prediction ability for MACE (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Assessment of stenosis degree and plaque type using CCTA provided additional prognostic value over CACS and FRS to risk stratify stroke patients without prior history of CAD better.

  • This article aims to validate empirically and verify theoretically, the applicability of the spa town life cycle model to Bath Spa located in United Kingdom. In order to test the model, the indicators of the model that associated with the rate of transportation infrastructure, the length of stay, tourist facilities, competitive resorts, advertising, tourism policy, environmental problem and the attitude of residents were examined through a comparative analysis. According to the result of this research, the indicators of 7 items excepting competitive resorts applied to Bath Spa. The competitive resorts of Bath Spa emerge at the maturity stage differing from the model that appeared at the stagnation stage. In conclusion if the new hypothesis of competitive resorts is added to the model, the model will be applied to western spa town, which has a small scale and a long history.

  • Korean Blood Services have grown with history of half a century or more, and in its developing process, technological growth have contributed largely toward it. However, Korean Red Cross and public blood centers are finding difficulty in their business because the public doesn't feel necessity of blood donation and have distrust in current blood management system. Recently, smart phone shows new possibility to the modern life as it plays a role of micro PC. With this tendency, mobile application is being highlighted as a new media. Therefore this paper aims to propose an application called 'Nanumi'(tentatively named) to improve negative awareness about blood donation. For specific development suggestion, I analyzed existing theses and applications. Also, I interviewed experts in blood management and did a public survey to firm up necessity and appropriateness of this research. In this paper, I proposed structure of functions and UI design for the application.

  • A regular aperture occurs between persons controlled and a person governing the society according to national formation and development. A ruler is subdivided into a king, the President, or the highest controller who can feel the uncertainty of ruler's position. To protect those people, it is called guard that used all possible means and ways to protect those people or remove the danger. An opening of guard was related to enhancement of royal authority or centralism. Firstly a military organization had acted for this, but the organization gradually became independent according to it's subdivision and systematization. During the period of the Three States and Unified Silla, the guard was needed new management system by enhancement of royal authority, expansion of the territory, and establishment of centralism.
