Considering the present development situation of rental apartment since 1982, the supply of homeless housing for low-income dwellers has contributed a amount of quantities, but has been deficient qualities in housing policy. To propose the energy policy for low-income dwellers, this study investigated the energy consumption and the degree of heating satisfaction by heating system through questionaries in permanent rental apartment and 50 year period rental apartment complexes. The results of this study were as follows; The annual energy consumption of heating and hot water supply is 267.2 Mca1/$\textrm{m}^2$ㆍyr in central heating system, is 163.9 Mca1/$\textrm{m}^2$ㆍyr in unit heating system. But from the view of annual energy cost and the degree of heating satisfaction, central heating system were better than unit heating system in rental apartment.

The apartment house is one of the representative housing types in Korea. However, it has not met the diverse and individualized needs of their residents. This study was intended to identify the residents' preference of interior design in apartment houses and suggest the guidelines for the diversity of Intoner design In apartments. The subjects were 412 apartment residents who lived in Haeundae, Busan. They were asked about their preference for interior images of each room and finishing materials. The findings were as follows. 1) The apartment interior images were composed of nine main factors. 2) The residents preferred to 'practical' interior image in apartment and different interior images for each room. 3) The residents preferred interior images were different by their housing sizes and space organization types. 4) The residents preferred to different finishing materials for each room..

The influx of the apartment housing culture have passed thirty years, but it has been pricipally developed that in terms of the urban's residents. There is very important problem when we think about the improvement of housing's life of dwellers in rural. Therefore, as increased demand of apartment housing and dweller's needs in rural we think that there is worth studing to the residents of rural's apartment housings. The purpose of this study is to understand the housing in rural, to discriminate between rural's and urban's apartment housing plan and to adapt to basic data to satisfy request of rural apartment housing's residents according to the family composition.

The purpose of this paper is to develop ubiquitous systems based upon individual space in an apartment dwelling, which are called space-based systems in a ubiquitous Apartment. This research investigates the present technology-based ubiquitous systems in apartment design and also include the recent design themes such as 'well-being space' and 'flexible space' to develop Space-Based systems. The proposed the Space-based Systems are concretely applied in a characteristic dwelling unit of stepped level apartment with specific activity scenarios to demonstrate their actual realization. This paper also focuses on 'responsive systems' with automated actuators and sensors as well as on 'flexible infill systems' to accommodate various space needs.

This study examines changes of internal structure and the ratios of room sizes of flat-type apartment housing and residents' demand of housing alteration. The main results are follows: First, the auxiliary space, such as multi-purpose room, storage ＆ receiving space, becomes an important component of flat-type apartment housing. Second, apartment housings should be supplied to residents focusing on functions of space rather than the number of rooms. Third, the ratios of living room and storage space sizes have been increased as living space increases. Since the current apartment housings do not meet residents' needs, we suggest that residents' age, number of family, and economic status must be considered when apartment space are planned.

This study examines and analyzes view hindrance factors of high-storied apartment houses at small town like 'Eup' where county office locates and it is found that hindrance factors include designation of residential area and height, length and form of main building. On recognition of view, most subjects of research considered high-storied apartment houses hindered urban view and its regulation is needed. Apartment houses at small cities become main factors of hindering urban view because they were located randomly regardless of scale of city and surrounding situation, but there is no measure to control it. Accordingly, view control through enaction of regulations is urgently needed with establishment of guidelines such as height of large buildings including high-storied apartment houses, length of main building, location and regulation of exterior design.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a social environment to active communities in apartment housing, on the basis of the residents' different social environments of two apartment complexes having their own respective community spaces. A questionnaire was responded by 434 housewives residing in the two apartment complexes which have their own respective space usage and programs in the community spaces larger than is legally specified. The questionnaire comprised items such as neighborhood consciousness, social intercourse, needs of community program diversity. The frequency analysis, the t-test, ANOVA, chi-square analysis were used for the comparison of characteristics of the two apartment complexes. The results of the social environment are as follows. The neighborhood consciousness, social intercourse of residents, and their attitude for participation in the common activities differed according to the residents' socio-demographic characteristics (age, education, number of family, average household income), complex distinctions (presence of clubs, community spaces, and community programs), and the attitude of constructors to foster it. Residents' participation rate and their participation intention showed positive correlation.

Since the apartment was built by Korea National Housing Cooperation in 1961, the amount of its supply has been increased greatly, especially from the late 70's. Recently there are many ongoing studies regarding sustainable construction apartment in Korea, one of the research is developing sustainable apartment that has longer life cycle. Also according as life's quality of residents is upgrading, complain for impact noise and plumbing system noise from upstair or downstair are increasing more and more. To solve this complains, government established impact noise standard as lightweight impact noise of 58dB, heavyweight impact noise of 50dB and presented standard floor system or recognition floor system to satisfy this impact noise standard. So in this study, the aim is to develop dry ondol access floor system for sustainable apartment which have pleasant and quiet life environment.

This study was to analyze land use tendency of the apartment complexes in Banpo in Seoul, Bundang, and Keureng in Chungju. The results of this study were followings. The patterns of Land use in the apartment complexes have been diversified and open spaces have been increased since 1990. In addition, land use relating facilities also has been increased. In the apartment complexes in large cities, park spaces also have been increased. The results of this study indicated that the tendency of apartment complexes is not just residential areas but places for quality of life.

Due to the lack of available land for housing in Korea, apartment has been supplied in great quantities to raise the rate for land-use since the middle of 1980s. Many people in Korea live in apartment because the number of apartment occupies more than half of total houses. Nevertheless, the concern on the house management with respect to the quality is insufficient, it is currently required the concern on the quality of housing. Moreover, many defects in apartment has been occurred repeatedly now, so, it is necessary to analyze the defect in order to raise the quality of living environment. This study aimed to survey the types of defect in apartment according to the construction types through the questionnaire analysis about apartment residents in Gwangju city for the purpose of reducing the defects.
