Test and Fabrication of the 1MJ Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage System (1MJ급 초전도에너지저장시스템 제작 및 평가)

  • For several decades researches and developments on superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system have been done for efficient electric power management. Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute(KERI) have developed of a 1MJ. 300kVA SMES System for improving power quality in sensitive electric loads. We developed the code for design of a SMES magnet. which could find the parameters of the SMES magnet having minimum amount of superconductors for the same stored energy. and designed the 1MJ SMES magnet by using it. This paper describes the design. fabrication and experimental results for the SMES magnet. cryostat, HTS current lead and power converter.

Analyzing Complementarity Structures of KM Strategies and Testing Their Impact on Firm Performance in Small and Medium Enterprises (중소기업에 있어 지식경영 소싱 전략 간 상호보완 구조의 분석 및 기업 성과에 미치는 영향 검정)

  • Scant attention has been given to analyzing how knowledge sourcing strategies affect firm performance in SMEs and what are the differences between SMEs and large firms in the patterns of knowledge sourcing strategies adoption. This study attempts to advance the current literature by examining the impact of knowledge sourcing strategies on SMEs performance. The empirical segment of our work is based on data on knowledge sourcing strategies of SMEs and organizational performance from a sample of 166 Korean firms. Our results indicate knowledge sourcing adoption patterns of SMEs are different from large firms. In addition, the results confirm that substitutability between internal- and external-oriented, person- and external-oriented sourcing strategies. This study sheds new light on knowledge management (KM) research by identifying the relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies and SMEs performance.

  • Although more than 99% of all Korean companies are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which accounts for a large part of the national economy, they are having difficulties in securing information protection capabilities due to problems such as budget and manpower. On the other hand, as 97% of cyber incidents are concentrated in SMEs, it is urgent to strengthen the information protection management and response capabilities of SMEs. Although the government is promoting company-wide information security consulting for SMEs, the need for supplementing it's procedures and consulting items is being raised. Based on the results of information security consulting supported by the government in 2020, this study attempted to derive improvement plans by interviewing SME workers, information security consultants, and system operators. Through the research results, it is expected to create a basis for SMEs to autonomously check the information security management system and contribute to the reference of related policies.

  • Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) system is one of the key technologies to overcome the voltage sag, swell, interruption and frequency fluctuation by fast response speed of current charge and discharge. In order to evaluate the characteristics of over mega joule class grid connected High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) SMES system, the authors proposed an algorithm by which the SMES coil could be connected to the Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). Using the proposed algorithm, users can perform the simulation of voltage sag and frequency stabilization with a real SMES coil in real time and easily change the capacity of SMES system as much as they need. To demonstrate the algorithm, real charge and discharge circuit and active load were manufactured and experimented. The results show that the current from real system was well amplified and applied to the current source of simulation circuit in real time.

  • This study analyzed President Lee's speeches of Korea and the policy of SMES and ventures in the field of information technology using cognitive map analysis. The relationship analysis between policy tool variables and policy goal variables was employed to derive policy direction of IT SMEs and ventures. This paper suggests growth competence reinforcement, investment revitalization, revitalization of start-up companies, enhancement of technology competition, globalization and job creation to the policy direction of IT SMEs and ventures. In this paper, we constructed a cognitive map on the policy vision of SMEs and ventures in the field of information technology. This study also showed that this cognitive map could be characterized by a scarcity of feedback loops and a strong emphasis on the positive loops in the structure of virtuous circle.

  • The shortage of R&D personnel and the lower productivity of SMEs are critical issues in strengthening SMEs. Government provides various policies to deal with these issues. The aim of this paper is to analyze current status and policy issues of R&D personnel and to suggest policy alternatives to improve the availability of R&D personnel in SMEs.

  • This paper describes the design, code of a $\mu$SMES device that we developed. The 0.7MJ $\mu$SMES coil was wound with high winding tension of about 14kbf/$mm^{2}$ in order to prevent wire motion from Lorentz force. This coil was charged up to a current of 1820A with a ramping rate of about 10A/s, where a quench occurred. This quench current is sbout 82% fo the coil critical current.

  • In this paper we present the results of manufacturing and tests of prototype cryostat for micro-SMES. The prototype cryostat with HTS current leads and refrigerator had been designed and manufactured for micro-SMES. The cryostat had been tested the helium boil-off and mechanical stress during transfer and vibration test. These results will be applied to micro-SMES cryostat.

  • SMEs are experiencing difficulties in doing sales promotion due to the low awareness of the image of the company and the products produced by them in the global market. Therefore, the Government should seek ways to raise awareness of SMEs' image and products. SMEs have to carry out global innovation activities needed to develop new products or new technologies, but they are exposed to limitations of these innovative activities due to the limit of their available resources. Therefore, as a national project, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small and Medium Business Corporation are doing project for fostering and constructing global shopping mall (independent mall) so that SMEs can strengthen their global innovation activities. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to succeeding in the project for fostering and constructing global shopping mall (independent mall) by studying the case of Zungle Incorporation which operates a global shopping mall and greatly increases exports by participating in this project, and identifying success factors of Zungle Incorporation in doing this project.
