  • Recently, in Korea, recognizing the importance of satellite imagery and a national project, the development of satellite providing satellite imagery information of 1m high resolution has been carried out. As the application of satellite. imagery information is expanded to the national land, the environment and geographical information, etc, the necessity of integrated management of satellite imagery information increases. Unfortunately, in case of Korea, currently, the results that institutes for satellite imagery processing produce with satellite imagery have been individually managed. Integrated Management of Satellite Imagery Information project which is being promoted by ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute) in Korea will provide the solutions for the above mentioned problems. In this research work, we designed standard metadata for integrated management of satellite imagery information in consideration of international and national standard.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the appraising frame and the accreditation system of universities in both Korea and the United Sates, as well as developing a standard plan to appraise 4 year nursing education institutions in Korea. Research design of this study was descriptive comparative research. The results of the research can be divided into six fields, educational purposes, educational courses, students, faculty, facility .equipments and administration.finance in Korea. Then the results were further categorized into seven fields : mission and governance, faculty, students, curriculum and instruction, resources, educational effectiveness and integrity. Thus Korean appraising frames were suggested to have eight fields of standard. The fields are philosophy and purposes of educational institution, educational courses and instruction, students, faculty, facility .equipments, adminstration.finance, educational effectiveness and integrity.

  • Today's digital broadcasting services based on DVB-SI standard are provided a two-way broadcast. However, using the power of STB if the user does not use a waste of time spent on standby power is becoming a serious problem. Accordingly, for energy savings both at home and abroad to actively promote green policies, but highly functional STB, the internal software to automatically update the appropriate scheduling techniques are not shown, power usage does not meet the standard can. Therefore, In this paper We analyze the current STB technology and the problems, as proper use of power to the standard STB design scheme and the automatic software installation method of operation is presented.

  • The conventional commands & telemetry system of Korean low-earth orbiting satellites has certain limitations in accommodating various missions. As the payload becomes complex, it requires very complicated operational concepts in terms of commands and telemetry. With the current design, commands and telemetry formats have to be rebuilt whenever new payloads or operation concepts are involved, and many constraints in operation shall be produced due to the lacks of its flexibility. In this paper, a new strategy for commands & telemetry development partially derived from PUS (Packet Utilization Standard) of European Space Agency, which provides enhanced features for the accommodation of payloads & operational requirements, is presented.

  • The International Maritime Organization's e-Navigation strategy is to introduce new technologies to ships to support easier and safer navigation. With the e-Navigation strategy, various equipment will be installed in vessels and the system structure will be linked to onshore systems. For this reason, a common data structure between systems became necessary, and finally the S-100 standard developed by the International Hydrographic Organization was selected. This paper describes a design of marine casualty data model based on the S-100 standard. The data model of the S-100 standard is designed in the form of a UML class diagram, and the final encoding follows the GML / XML format. We will look at the S-100 standard and product specifications under development, and describe the S-100 standards-based data design and portrayal definition of marine accident data.

  • This study categorized and analyzed the body types of adult women in their 20s and 30s using 3D human measurement data from the 8th Size Korea, and intended to construct body shape and dimension data necessary for modeling Korean standard avatars. Data analysis considered data from 1302 adult women in their 20s and 30s, and a total of 49 index values, drop values, and angle items were subjected to factor analysis and one-way ANOVA to categorize the body type, and Duncan test to post-verify significant differences by type. As a result of conducting factor analysis, 13 factors were extracted and were categorized into 4 body types. Type 1 is short in the upper torso, long in the lower torso, long in the arms and legs, and has a upright body shape and sagging shoulder. Type 2 is short in the torso, arms and legs, and has large torso flexion and lower body circumference. Type 3 has abdominal obesity with small torso flexion and lower body circumference. Type 4 is a small body bending forward type. For the distribution of body types by age among those in their 20s and 30s, the highest appearance rate was Type 1 and was therefore selected as the represntative body type. The body type information of this study will be used as basic data for developing standard avatars.

  • This study presents an application of object-oriented methodology for structural dcsign process. A prototype system of integrated a structural design system is developed by introducing a structural analysis object model(SAOM) and structural design object model(SDOM). The SAOM module. which is modeled as a part of structural member, performs structural analysis using FEM approach and the SDOM module checks structural members based on Korea steel design standard. • The modular apartment has been completed for the first time in Korea through the national research and development (R&D) project in December 2017, and 30 households moved in. Although conditions such as technicality and constructability have to be satisfied to adopt and spread the modular apartments in the future, economic feasibility is the most important factor among the conditions. The economic feasibility of modular apartments can be compared with that of existing reinforced concrete (RC) structure apartments. It is highly important to reduce the construction cost through standardization above all. The standardization refers to establishment of national design standards and principles, and it is important for manufacturers and building companies to comply with those standards and principles. The modular construction (MC) skill in Korea is at an early adoption stage and the MC market is not widely expanded yet. Thus, the application of the MC design, which is the basis of the standardization, has not been widely accepted. However, related R&D projects are now performing mainly by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport to promote modular apartments in recent years and the design standardization standard (draft) is now prepared to be notified as a result of the steady research. Furthermore, pilot complexes for demonstration purpose are under construction, starting from public rental apartments. Thus, MC method-applied public rental houses will be spread in near future. This study aims to investigate the current design status in the Ga-Yang Housing as a pilot modular complex to produce and supply more economical and efficient modular houses, and analyze the problems by comparing the design standardization standards with pre-notified design standardization standards and summarize the modifications between them thereby presenting foundational data for establishment of the design standardization in the modular business industry.

  • Purpose: Various studies have been performed to address the issue of increased energy use by buildings. In particular, research on complex envelopes that combines diverse envelope element techniques is currently in progress in the building sector. The present study aimed to develop an awning system using a light shelf, and to verify its validity through performance evaluation. Method: In the present study, a testbed was established for the performance evaluation of the awning system using a light shelf, and the uniformity ratio and lighting energy consumption were compared and analyzed relative to those with no awning and light shelf installation (Case 1), awning installation (Case 2), and light shelf installation (Case 3). Result: 1) In the present study, an awning system using a light shelf (Case 4) where an opening is made on the awning screen and natural light can be introduced through the light shelf located at the bottom was developed. 2) The optimum standard for Case 4 obtained through the performance evaluation was a 0.6m lighting length and a 2m extension length at a light shelf angle of $30^{\circ}$. 3) Case 4 with the optimum standard had a 5.5% lower uniformity ratio than Case 2, but had a higher uniformity ratio than Case 1 and Case 3. 4) Case 4 with the optimum standard showed 13.3%, 44.6%, and 0%~8.7% lighting energy reductions compared to Case 1, Case 2, and Case 3, respectively. 5) Based on the above results, Case 4 suggested in the present study was found to be effective for indoor light environment improvement and lighting energy reduction.
