VLSI Design of High Speed Digital Neural Network using the Binary Convolution (Binar Convolution을 이용한 고속 디지탈 신경회로망의 VLSI 설계)

  • Recently, for implementation of neural networks extensive studies have been done especially VLSI technology has been regarded as the one of the most attractive means to implement neural networks. The main drawbacks of digital VLSI implementations are their large area and slow processing speed. In this paper to solve the speed and size problems we designed the efficient architecture using the binary convolution method for basic operation of neural cell, multiplication and addition. When it is used for implementing 3-layer network with 16 neural cell per layer that used neural cell based on binary convolution, clock of 50MHz and 26MCPS on 0.8${\mu}$ standard cell library has been achieved.

  • This paper suggests a PDA-based scientific traffic accident investigation system in order to improve the reliability and accuracy of a traffic accident investigation procedure. In order to fulfill this objective, a standard accident sheet with 32 elements to be used in the PDA system was developed through a reference review and an expert survey. Using this information, the required functionalities and realization procedure of the PDA system for traffic accident investigation were presented including mobile network environment and GPS/GIS design. A prototype of PDA system is presented and more improved and efficientmanagement is highly expected by applying the system developed in this paper.

  • The Train Networks has a goal which requires the fast and correct data communication for distributable equipment systems. For this, in 1999, some train makers had established the standard TCN(IEC61375-1) for the inter-operating between equipment systems. Recently, TCN is being used in EU, China and the requirement to use it is growing up by many other countries more and more. The TCN was adopted at Korea High-speed Train with first in Korea, and Rotem Company finished the design of TCMS with TCN network for Istanbul EMU and KTX-2 Train and tests them. TCN(Train Communication Networks) defines the set of communication vehicle buses and train buses. The MVB(Multifunction Vehicle Bus) defines the data communication interface of equipment located in a vehicle and the WTB(Wire Train Bus) defines the data communication interface between vehicles. This paper examines whether the result of on-board test is satisfied with the IEC61375-1(International Electrotechnical Commission 61375-1) which is the international standard of TCN and introduce the results.

  • The TMO may contain two types of methods, time-triggered methods(also called the spontaneous methods of SpMs) which are clearly separated from the conventional service methods (SvMs). The SpM executions are triggered upon design time whereas the SvM executions are triggered by service request message from clients. In this paper, we describes the application environment as the patient monitor telemedicine system with TMO structure. Vital sign information web viewer systems is also the standard protocol for medical image and transfer. In order to embrace new technologies as telemedicine service, it is important to develope the standard protocol between different systems in the hospital, as well as the communication with external hospital systems.

  • A new type of second-order digital peaking filters for professional-quality digital audio system is proposed whose frequency response can be elaborately controlled throughout the composite structure of a standard band-pass filter and a 0-dB bypass gain. The proposed method for designing the peaking filter uses the Q-compensation technique to prevent the Q-distortion caused by the variation of the gain factor and is reduced into a compact form which is proper to the real-time implementation. Methods are examined for computing its coefficients, which are exact and very straightforward to compute with small amount of the system resources.

  • Recently, as the heterogeneous network (HetNet) has been deployed widely to support various kinds of Radio Access Networks(RANs) with a combination of Macro, Pico, and/or Femto cells, research and standardization efforts have been very active regarding the concept of Licensed Shared Access (LSA) for supporting spectrum sharing. In order for a mobile device to efficiently support the spectrum sharing, the mobile device shall be reconfigurable, meaning that its radio application code has to be adaptively changed in accordance with the hopping of desired spectral band. Especially, Working Group 2 (WG2) of Technical Committee (TC) Reconfigurable Radio System (RRS) of European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) has been a main driving force for developing standard architecture for Multi-mode Mobile Device (MD) that can be applied to the LSA system. In this paper, we introduce the Multi-mode MD architecture for supporting LSA-based spectrum sharing. An implementation of a test-bed of Multi-mode MD is presented in order to verify the feasibility of the standard MD architecture for the purpose of LSA-based spectrum sharing through various experimental tests.

Fatigue Life Evaluation of Motor Block Bracket Units for KTX-Sancheon Trains (KTX-산천 열차용 모터 감속기 고정대의 피로 수명 평가)

  • In this study, fatigue life of the motor block bracket units for KTX-Sancheon trains was assessed. Design evaluation for railway structures was performed based on the UIC 566 regulation, and test and evaluation of fatigue life in welded parts was performed in accordance with standard ERRI B 12/RP17 and ERRI B 12/RP60. The actual vehicle dynamic stress testing was executed in KTX-Sancheon service line with the service operating speed. The dynamic stress was measured with commercial data acquisition system (MGC plus). The cumulative damage was evaluated by applying standard BS 7608 - Class F and cycle counting was used rain-flow counting method. As a result, the motor block bracket units for KTX-Sancheon trains was designed to fit the regulation and the safety of fatigue life for 30 years, assuming that KTX-Sancheon trains travels 600,000km annually, were confirmed under current operating conditions.

  • As more application programs have graphic functions, standards in the computer graphics are becoming important. To develop a computer aided design and production system for ships, which would be used by different shipyards, a graphic library should be chosen as a standard. Existing ISO graphic standards and de facto industrial standards are surveyed. They are, to name some of them, GKS, PHIGS, X-Window, PEX, PDES, and STEP. GKS and PHIGS concern about the application programmer's interface. Others handle the device interface. PDES and STEP are to standardize the graphical data transfer between heterogeneous systems. Their inter-relations are investigated. Some preliminary suggestions for the choice of graphic standards are included in this paper.

Bioavailability of Digoxin Tablets in Healthy Volunteers

  • The bioavailability of digoxin generic tablets manufactures in Korea (formulations A & B) wwere compared to a standard (formulation C; Lanoxin brand digoxin, Burroughs Wellcome, USA) in 12 healthy Korean male volunteers (mean age 31.4 years) in a single dose, randomized, complete block crossover study. Using a latin square design, each of the subjects was randomized to the order number and allocated to each of the three treatments of 0.5mg oral digoxin. Digoxin conc4ntrations in serum and urine samples collected for 48 hours after dosing were measured by fluoprescence polarization immunoassy and radioimmunoassy, respectively. Treatments were compared by using nonlinear least squares regession analysis to evaluate the following pharmacokinetic parameters : maximum serum concentation $(C_{max})$; time of maximum serum concentation $(T_{max})$; area under the serum concentration-time curve $AUC_{0-12}$, $C_{max}$\;and\;(AUC_{0-12})$; and cummulative urinary excretion for 0-48 hours $(CLE_{0-48}.\;Mean\;AUC_{0-12},\;C_{max},\;and\;CUE_{0-48}$ values for formulations B and C were significantly different from formulation A (P<0.001), but not significantly diffeerent form each other. Basede on $AUL_{0-12}\;and\;CUE_{0-48}$ respectively, the relative availability of formulation B was 87.5% and 89.6% and the relative availability of formultation A was 43% and 35% when compared to formulation C(the standard).

  • The introduction of BIM in domestic construction industry has become more active. Library development and standardization in civil-engineering are unexhausted. This research develop and standardize prototype library for railway infrastructure. We define target facility for library based on railway standard drawings and select BIM software according characteristic of each facility. In this research, we develop libraries composed of 199 files and 489 types for alignment, roadbed and track and make specifications as defined attribution item and description. As we consider for application to diverse use case, develop prototype library in low LoD. We expect that library can increase 3D design productivity and ensure consistency of quality.
