A Study of Contents Analysis on Questioning Daehan- Sin- Gygi - Focusing on the Contents of Physical Geography - (문답 대한 신지지 내용분석- 자연지리를 중심으로)

  • This article focuses on the period from the beginning of Twentieth, the period commonly regarded as the Enlightenment Period in Korea. Questioning Daehan-Sin-Gygi( 問答大韓新地誌) textbook consists of contents of physical geography aimed at rational and objective perception of the nature, within the frame of Sirak(實學) and Progressive Thoughts. In terms of contents organization, there are too wide range of facts and knowledge covered, with mechanical imitation of statement style of systematic and regional approach. Particularly, Geography textbook in this period attached greater importance to contents of physical geography than any other times. It is possible to conclude that real outcomes of geography education at the time contributed significantly to enlightenment of people and integration of the society. I consider that statement style of question-response used at the time is very worth-while.

A Transformation Technique for Constraints-preserving of XML Data (XML 데이터의 제약조건 보존을 위한 변환 기법)

  • Many techniques have been proposed to store efficiently and query XML data. One way achieving this goal is using relational database by transforming XML data into relational format. But most researches only transformed content and structure of XML schema. Although they transformed semantic constrainment of XML schema, they did not all of semantics. In this paper, we propose a systematic technique for extracting semantic constrainment from XML schema and storing method when the extracting result is transformed into relational schema without any lost of semantic constrainment. The transforming algorithm is used for extracting and storing semantic constrainment from XML schema and it shows how extracted information is stored according to schema notation. Also it provides semantic knowledges that are needed to be confirmed during the transformation to ensure a correct relation schema. The technique can reduce storage redundancy and can keep up content and structure with integrity constraints.

  • Steel hollow section members have been widely used as a major material in the construction market due largely to their efficiency, their aesthetic appeal and to the technical development. But it is true that the commercial Program for dealing with a joint problem using hollow section members is not firmly established due to its uncertain and variable design parameters. The qualitative analysis program developed by using computer is introduced in this study. The results of that analysis are shown in the two-dimensional space in variable ranges and diagrams, so it would be useful to whom have not many experiences and knowledges. It is represented that the differences between Canadian code and the Korean standard for the connections of hollow section members. And It is verified that the software is applicable to the Preliminary design in steel tubular structures.

Middle School Students' Construction of Physics Inquiry Problems and Variables Isolation and Clarification during Small Group Open-inquiry Activities (중학생의 소집단 자유탐구활동 중 물리 영역 탐구문제의 구성과 변인 추출 및 명료화 과정)

  • The study aimed to analyze middle school students construction of physics inquiry problems for open inquiry from the viewpoint of variable isolation and clarification, and investigate students' difficulties during the processes of variable isolation and clarification to get implications for teaching and learning strategies for small group open inquiry activities which have been included in the 2007 national curriculum. The participants were 4 students who had attended an outreach program for the science gifted run by a university institution located in Seoul area. They performed an open inquiry on egg drop for 13 lessons for 30 hours. Level descriptions for variable isolation and clarification have been developed and applied to analyze students' inquiry problems and variables included by the problems. Students iterated inquiry processed 5 times and the inquiry problem showed progress gradually. Dependent variables have been isolated ahead and the levels of variable isolation and clarification showed higher than the independent variables. Many kinds of independent variables isolated extensively and the independent variables and control variables have been mingled. One of the reasons why students had some difficulties in isolation of independent variables could be the absence of theoretical models. The realities of school lab could restrict the variable isolation and clarification as well as topic selections. Some sensory or extensive variables such as broken eggs and drop height seem to be salient to be focused on as core variables. Lack of background knowledges could be one of the reasons for students' difficulties in variable clarification, such as theoretical definitions and operational definitions. As a result of lacking background knowledges, students could not construct theoretical models even though they could isolate and clarify variables as scientific lexical definitions. Some perceptions of inquiry as trial and error or reckless establishment of causal relations between variables could be accounted as one reason.

Embryonic Development and Early Life History of the Northern Loach, Cobitis pacifica (Pisces: Cobitidae) (북방종개 Cobitis pacifica(Pisces: Cobitidae)의 배 발생과 초기생활사)

  • We investigated developmental stages of embryo and early life history of the Korean indigenous fish, the northern loach, Cobitis pacifica in 2009 in order to understand fundamental knowledges for conservation of this species. Eggs were obtained after hormones injections (LHRH-a, HCG) and were artificially fertilized by the dry method. The embryo was spherical, separative demersal, faint white, and averaged $1.09{\pm}0.04\;mm$ (n=20) in diameter. The hatching of the embryo took place in about 48 hours after fertilization under water temperature of $21.0{\sim}24.0^{\circ}C$ and the newly hatched larvae averaged $2.87{\pm}0.05\;mm$ (n=20) in total length (TL). Four days after hatching, the larvae grew up to $6.86{\pm}0.10\;mm$ (n=10) in TL and york sac absorption, mouth and anus opening were shown. Fourteen days after hatching, most of fin-rays appeared at $10.71{\pm}0.34\;mm$ (n=10) in TL and color spots on the body surface were attained. Twenty six days after hatching, the larvae grew up to $14.88{\pm}0.45\;mm$ (n=10) in TL, and all their fin-rays were formed. Therefore, according to current study regarding the morphological development of Cobitis pacidica, the conversion from larval to juvenile stages occurred at 26 days after hatching. Eighty days after hatching, the larvae were $33.3{\pm}1.25\;mm$ (n=10), and their body shape and color pattern were similar to adult fish. In this study, embryonic development and early life history of the northern loach, Cobitis pacifica show morphological characteristics of Cobitidae family. We expected that our results can be used as an fundamental knowledges for restoration study of indigenous fish species.

A Mathematics Teacher's Reflective Practice as a Process of Professional Development (전문성 신장 과정으로서의 한 수학교사의 성찰적 실천)

  • Most of every teachers' life is occupied with his or her instruction, and a classroom is a laboratory for mutual development between teacher and students also. Namely, a teacher's professionalism can be enhanced by circulations of continual reflection, experiment, verification in the laboratory. Professional development is pursued primarily through teachers' reflective practices, especially instruction practices which is grounded on $Sch\ddot{o}n's$ epistemology of practices. And a thorough penetration about situations or realities and an exact understanding about students that are now being faced are foundations of reflective practices. In this study, at first, we explored the implications of earlier studies for discussing a teacher's practice. We could found two essential consequences through reviewing existing studies about classroom and instructions. One is a calling upon transition of perspectives about instruction, and the other is a suggestion of necessity of a teachers' reflective practices. Subsequently, we will talking about an instance of a middle school mathematics teacher's practices. We observed her instructions for a year. She has created her own practical knowledges through circulation of reflection and practices over the years. In her classroom, there were three mutual interaction structures included in a rich expressive environments. The first one is students' thinking and justifying in their seats. The second is a student's explaining at his or her feet. The last is a student's coming out to solve and explain problem. The main substances of her practical know ledges are creating of interaction structures and facilitating students' spontaneous changes. And the endeavor and experiment for diagnosing trouble and finding alternative when she came across an obstacles are also main elements of her practical knowledges Now, we can interpret her process of creating practical knowledge as a process of self-directed professional development when the fact that reflection and practices are the kernel of a teacher's professional development is taken into account.

  • This article is to investigate into the philosophical background and the applicability of the humanities programmes effectively to practice them, not to educate the religious doctrines, based on the traditional-cultural resources in the education center affiliated with the religious institution. These humanities programmes can be understood on the lifelong education associated with a person. In the light of common curriculum practising in the existing education center, contents of those programmes are reviewed with classifying the humanities programmes into 3 parts, that is, eastern classical language education, eastern classical education, and eastern traditional prognosticating arts branching off from the eastern philosophy. Eastern classical language education indicates the classical Chinese characters and literatures in the context of our historical tradition. Eastern classical education implies the education which can acquire classical literatures in a modern way, as a accumulation of knowledges having been in charge of a person's lifelong education, and as a entity responsible for making a person to bring to maturity of his character by comprehending the life of human being and the world in pre-modern, Finally, the eastern philosophy is chosen for the reason that have the very interesting contents which can report facts that recover the integral relationship between nature and human being lacking in contemporaries, and instead of rejecting to interpret human being excessively in terms of materialism, is a significant one endowed with the mission which should develop his potentials through the his lifelong. Especially, eastern traditional prognosticating arts are selected that people has considered with them so kindly, and are the knowledges forming the cores of national culture. It may be a very important that attempts to develop the humanities programmes practising in the education center affiliated with the religious institution are not only the demands of the times in our days, but also a new teaching way replacing with old fashioned teachings.

  • This thesis is a study to develop the tentative objectives and present the professional and courses for the nursing college. The conclusions conducted by the purpose of this study are as follows. First, on the basis of the concepts of the nursing and the view-points of nursing education, the tentative goals for the nursing education are set up as follows. 1. To understand human being's life, dignity and their physical, mental, and social aspects. 2. To understand the basic concepts and the principles of human sciences, social sciences, natural sciences, and medical sciences. To apply their knowledges to nursing practices. 3. To diagnose and assess the problems of individual, family and community in terms of nursing practice. To develop the ability of planning, negotiation, management, and evaluation for the nursing education. 4. To develop appropriate knowlege, attitudes, and skills to promote the clients' health and treat their illness. 5. To accomplish all tasks effectively as a trained and qualified professional nurse through the endless studies.   • Extending the success of the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM), the spaceborne measurement of precipitation by Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) is initiated. The GPM consists of a core satellite which will have a dual-frequency precipitation radar (DPR) and a constellation of small satellites equipped with microwave radiometers. The GPM is inherently a global program. Responding to the GPM plan, many other nations are much interested in participating in the GPM team or simply utilizing GPM products aiming at the development of meteorological technology. Korea can fully function its role if Korea is selected as a CAL/VAL site for the GPM because Korea maintains a well-established dense rain gauge network (AWS), precipitation radars, and the Haenam super site for surface observation. In this feasibility study, the necessities of the GPM project in the context of academical and social backgrounds and associated international and domestic activities are investigated. And GPM-related core technologies and application areas are defined. As a result, it is found that GPM will represent a great opportunity for us because of its ability to provide not only much enhanced three-hourly global rain products but also very useful tools for the enhancement of weather forecasting capabilities, management of water resources, development and implementation of monitoring techniques for severe weather phenomena, agricultural managements and climate application. Furthermore, rain retrieval and CAL/VAL technologies obtained during the involvement in the international GPM project will serve as basic knowledges to run our own geostationary satellite program.

Comparison between Early Childhood Teachers and Mothers in Perception of Oral Health Behavior and Education for Children (일부 유아교사와 어머니의 유아구강건강행동 및 구강건강교육에 대한 인식 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare between early childhood teachers and mothers in oral health knowledge, oral health care behavior, and perception of oral health education. The subjects in this study were 90 early childhood teachers who worked in all of kindergartens and child-care centers and 235 mothers who have young children (aged from 1 to 5) in 2 kindergartens and 2 childcare centers Y region. They completed questionnaires about oral health knowledges, oral health care behaviors, and perception of oral health education. The collected data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, and Fisher's exact test of SPSS WIN. The results were as follows: 1. There was not statistically significant difference between early childhood teacher's knowledge about oral health and mothers'. 2. There was statistically significant difference between early childhood teachers' oral health care behaviors for children and mothers' in prevention of cavity, keeping toothbrushes, guiding oral health behaviors, and check up at dentist's. 3. There was statistically significant difference between early childhood teachers' perception of interest and experience in oral health education and mothers'. Therefore, There was not difference between early childhood teacher's knowledge about oral health and mothers. But early childhood teachers more frequently carry out preventing of cavity, keeping toothbrushes, guiding oral health behavior to their children than mothers. Mothers were more interested in oral health than early childhood teachers. And Mothers wanted to be educated about children' oral care and early childhood teachers wanted to be educated about guidebook and media of oral health education.
