Development of the Expert Seasonal Prediction System: an Application for the Seasonal Outlook in Korea

  • An Expert Seasonal Prediction System for operational Seasonal Outlook (ESPreSSO) is developed based on the APEC Climate Center (APCC) Multi-Model Ensemble (MME) dynamical prediction and expert-guided statistical downscaling techniques. Dynamical models have improved to provide meaningful seasonal prediction, and their prediction skills are further improved by various ensemble and downscaling techniques. However, experienced scientists and forecasters make subjective correction for the operational seasonal outlook due to limited prediction skills and biases of dynamical models. Here, a hybrid seasonal prediction system that grafts experts' knowledge and understanding onto dynamical MME prediction is developed to guide operational seasonal outlook in Korea. The basis dynamical prediction is based on the APCC MME, which are statistically mapped onto the station-based observations by experienced experts. Their subjective selection undergoes objective screening and quality control to generate final seasonal outlook products after physical ensemble averaging. The prediction system is constructed based on 23-year training period of 1983-2005, and its performance and stability are assessed for the independent 11-year prediction period of 2006-2016. The results show that the ESPreSSO has reliable and stable prediction skill suitable for operational use.

  • 최근 IT 산업의 급격한 성장과 스마트폰의 출현으로 인해, 우리는 시와 장소를 가리지 않고 인터넷 환경에 접속할 수 있게 되었다. 하지만, 이로 인한 부정적인 영향도 발생하였다. 그중 하나는 피싱(Phishing), 스미싱(SMishing)과 같은 금융 범죄의 증가이다. 피싱, 스미싱과 같은 범죄로부터 이용자를 보호하기 위한 많은 연구들이 진행 중에 있지만, SNS에서의 보안 관련 지식공유를 통한 범죄 완화에 대한 연구는 현재 찾아보기 어려운 실정이다. 본 연구에서는, SNS 이용자가 보안 관련 지식공유 의도를 불러일으키는 영향 요인에는 무엇이 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 연구를 통해 다음을 알 수 있었다. 지식제공 자기효능감은 자기표현에 유의미한 영향을 미친다. 그리고 자기표현, 정보보안 의식, 소속감은 SNS 내에서 보안 관련 지식공유 의도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 반면에, 이타성은 SNS 내에서 보안 관련 지식공유 의도에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 향후에는 본 연구를 토대로, SNS 뿐만 아니라 모든 형태의 온라인 공동체로 연구의 범위를 넓혀, 가설을 일반화시키려는 노력이 필요할 것으로 보인다.

지식 생성 및 활용을 위한 지식 커뮤니티 효과 분석 (Analysis of Knowledge Community for Knowledge Creation and Use)

  • 지식의 생성과 활용의 원천으로서 인터넷 커뮤니티를 '지식 커뮤니티'로 정의할 때 지식 커뮤니티는 '검색엔진', '공개공동체', '전문공동체', '활동공동체'의 4대 유형으로 구분되며 개별 지식 커뮤니티는 시간이나 환경의 변화에 따라 각 유형을 넘나들며 변화하고 있다. 변화하는 지식 커뮤니티를 기업경영에 적절하게 활용하기 위해서는 각 지식 커뮤니티 유형별 활용전략이 절실함에도 불구하고, 지식 커뮤니티 유형별 효과 분석과 활용전략에 대한 연구는 많지 않다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지식 커뮤니티 유형별 분류에서 제안한 4대 지식 커뮤니티 유형에 대해 지식 생성 및 활용에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증분석을 통해 도출함으로써 지식 커뮤니티의 변화를 설명하고 그 활용방안을 제시하고자 한다. 첫째, 관련 선행연구를 통해 지식 커뮤니티 유형별로 지식의 생성과 활용에 영향을 미치는 요인을 적합성, 신뢰성, 체계성, 충실성, 유사성, 피드백, 이해도로 파악하였다. 둘째, 유형별 대표사이트에 30개의 실제 질문을 질의하여 전문가의 평가를 통해 각 요인을 평가했다. 마지막으로 Stepwise 회귀분석을 이용해 각 유형별로 지식 커뮤니티의 지식 생성과 활용에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인을 도출했다. 회귀분석 결과 검색엔진 유형의 지식 커뮤니티는 신뢰성과, 공개 공동체 유형은 적합성과, 전문공동체 유형은 신뢰성 및 유사성과, 활동공동체 유형은 충실성 및 유사성과 높은 상관관계가 있었다. 본 연구에서 제시한 지식 커뮤니티 유형별 영향요인에 대한 실증분석 결과는 지식 커뮤니티의 변화를 설명하고 그 활용방안을 제시하는데 유용할 것으로 기대된다.

국내 종양유전상담 간호사를 위한 단기 교육프로그램 개발 (The First Korean Cancer Genetic Counseling Program for Nurses)

  • Genetic knowledge for oncology nurses is important in Korea because oncologists are incorporating genetic counseling and genetic testing into their practice. The purpose of this paper is to describe our method of developing the first academic cancer genetic risk assessment and counseling course for Korean nurses. A one-week (non-credit) cancer genetics counseling program was constructed for master's level Korean oncology nurses. The course emphasized basic genetic concepts and principles the genetics of cancer; hereditary cancer syndromes; family history assessments; pedigree construction; risk calculation; surveillance recommendations and treatment options ethical, legal, social, and psychological issues inherent in genetic testing. The goals of this program are to: 1) provide a comprehensive knowledge base for nurses who are currently expanding their scope of practice into the genetic counseling role 2) introduce this knowledge to nurses who want to use it in their practice; and 3) provide cancer genetic knowledge and resources to Korean nursing faculty who plan to incorporate this knowledge into existing master's courses. This academically-based course is recognized as valuable by nurses, nursing faculty, and physicians. With this new knowledge nurses can begin toexpand their role in delivering comprehensive cancer care services.

Ontology를 활용한 무기체계 품질경영 연구 (Quality Management Study of Weapon System using Ontology)

  • Purpose: This study is addressing the establishment of the knowledge information system supplying the quality management of weapon system. It is going to support the continuous quality management through the linkages and integration between the product structure and the quality information. Methods: The interrelated relationship of the product structure information and quality information of weapon system would be expressed explicitly by taking advantage of the ontology concept. The quality information of distributed systems would be integrated through the SOA(Service Oriented Architecture)-based Web services. After defining the inference rules, which could be utilized in the quality management, in the constructed knowledge information system, the quality information would be inferred through the queries. Results: By building the integrated quality information knowledge system through the ontology and SOA, the connectivity between the product structures and dispersed quality information was enhanced. The utility and applicability of this study were checked up through the inferences on the products and quality information by using the information built by the semantic relationship of facts. Conclusion: We established the knowledge and information system as a systematic approach to support the quality management of weapon system. This is not affected by the organizations and systems, and it seems that it could be utilized across the quality management as the efficient knowledge sharing architecture supporting the quality management of weapon systems in the aspect of the product integration.

  • Rrecently, companies have made great efforts to satisfy various needs and heightened expectations of customers, and the importance of customer center as customer contact department for customer relationship management is increasing. In the knowledge ecosystem, corporate customer centers are emerging as a new alternative to acquiring corporate competitiveness by increasing sales and increasing market share by improving marketing support activities and customer relationship management at customer contact points. As a result, the interest in the customer center has increased rapidly because it provides the opportunity to contact with the customer. In addition, in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, the customer center, which is a collection of information and communication technologies, has a big databased voice recognition technology to elaborate customer service, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and contributing to marketing through continuous interaction with customers. Of course, we have the opportunity to transform into the frontline business intelligence front for customer knowledge. This study is a comparative case study on how the customer center of K Life Insurance that takes the lead in the customer center industry has successfully renewed and established their key information systems to improve customer services and reinforce marketing support competencies. Based on the above, this study will present factors affecting successful implementation and settlement of the customer service information systems of customer centers by independently analyzing two individual cases.

South Korean first-time mothers' knowledge of digestive health problems in infancy and their utilization of health care facilities for digestive health concerns: a descriptive study

  • Purpose: This study aimed to assess the knowledge level of first-time mothers regarding digestive health issues in infancy and to examine the utilization of healthcare facilities for such problems. Methods: Data from 119 first-time mothers of infants under 6 months of age were analyzed. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANO-VA) were conducted using the SPSS software. Results: The average correct response rate for first-time mothers' knowledge of digestive health problems in infancy was 61.9%. The highest correct response rate was observed for infantile colic, while diarrhea had the lowest. Less than 50% of mothers received education on infant digestive health problems across all categories. Among digestive health problems in infancy, diarrhea exhibited the highest rate of healthcare utilization, whereas infantile colic had the lowest. First-time mothers' knowledge of digestive health problems in infancy varied based on maternal age (t=-3.66, p<.001), education level (t=-2.26, p=.026), and planned pregnancy (t=3.24, p=.002). Moreover, mothers who received education on infant digestive health problems demonstrated better overall knowledge of digestive health problems. Conclusion: The rate of education regarding digestive health problems during infancy among first-time mothers was < 50%. Furthermore, mothers educated on infant digestive health issues exhibited improved knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to provide appropriate pre-education to primiparous common gastrointestinal health issues in infants.

Offline-to-Online Service and Big Data Analysis for End-to-end Freight Management System

  • Freight management systems require a new business model for rapid decision making to improve their business processes by dynamically analyzing the previous experience data. Moreover, the amount of data generated by daily business activities to be analyzed for making better decisions is enormous. Online-to-offline or offline-to-online (O2O) is an electronic commerce (e-commerce) model used to combine the online and physical services. Data analysis is usually performed offline. In the present paper, to extend its benefits to online and to efficiently apply the big data analysis to the freight management system, we suggested a system architecture based on O2O services. We analyzed and extracted the useful knowledge from the real-time freight data for the period 2014-2017 aiming at further business development. The proposed system was deemed useful for truck management companies as it allowed dynamically obtaining the big data analysis results based on O2O services, which were used to optimize logistic freight, improve customer services, predict customer expectation, reduce costs and overhead by improving profit margins, and perform load balancing.

  • 우리 사회는 산업 전반에 걸쳐 빠른 성장을 보이고 있으나 핵가족화와 고령화 시대에 접어들고 있어 노인에 대한 요양 서비스와 같은 사회복지 서비스의 수용가 급격하게 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 그러나 노인과 관련된 요양시설에 종사하고 있는 사회복지사들의 직무가 명확하지 않아 직무 스트레스가 발생되고 있으며, 직무 만족도가 현저하게 낮아지고 있는 상황이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 노인요양시설의 사회복지사 직무와 관련하여 복지 서비스를 실천함에 있어 보다 좋은 환경 및 표준화된 절차에 의하여 서비스에 집중할 수 있도록 직무와 융합한 지식 기반의 관리시스템을 제안한다. 제안 시스템을 통하여 사회복지사들이 자기 개발 및 정보 공유를 통하여 신속한 업무 파악과 직무 스트레스에서의 탈피에 의한 업무 만족도를 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

KDD에 기반한 경영성과 분석 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Management performance Analysis System with KDD)

  • In modern dynamic management environment, there is growing recognition that? information & knowledge management systems are essential for CEO's efficient/effective decision making. As a key component to cope with this current, we suggest the management performance analysis syystem based on Knowledge Discovery in Database (KDD). The system measures management performance that is considered with both VA(Value- Added), which represents stakeholder's point of view and EVA(Economic Value-Added), which represents shareholder's point of view. The relation ship between management performance and some 80 financial ratios is analyzed, and then important financial ratios are drawn out. In analyzing the relationship, we applied KDD process which includes such as multidimensional cube, OLAP(On-Line Analytic Process), data mining and AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). To demonstrate the performance of the system, we conducted a case study using financial data over the 16-years from 1981 to 1996 of Korean automobile industry which is taken from database of KISF AS(Korea Investors Services Financial Analysis System).
