  • Architectural design works are proceeded by the collaboration of experts working in many fields, but the traditional method of collaboration, so to speak offline collaboration, has limitation on time and space. The meeting agenda is not well organized in the meeting. Often there are so many items to discuss, that some get left out, and remain unaddressed. The knowledge relying on people's memory is not always accurate. To solve the above problems, we would like to suggest web-based collaboration system in architectural design and provide contents which are called checklists and knowledge database for collaboration.

BDI Architecture Based on XML for Intelligent Multi-Agent Systems

  • Many intelligent agent systems are known to incorporate BDI architecture for cognitive reasoning. Since this architecture contains all the knowledge of world model and reasoning rule, it is very complex and difficult to handle. This paper describes a methodology to design and implement BDI architecture, BDIAXml based on XML for multi-agent systems. This XML-based BDI architecture is smaller than any other BDI architecture because it separates knowledge for reasoning from domain knowledge and enables knowledge sharing using XML technology. Knowledge for BDI mental state and reasoning is composed of specific XML files and these XML files are stored into a specific knowledge server. Most systems using BDIAxml architecture can access knowledge from this server. We apply this BDIAXml system to domain of Hospital Information System and show that this architecture performs more efficiently than other BDI architecture system in terms of knowledge sharing, system size, and ease of use.

  • This paper deals with automated computer-aided process planning by which designers can determine operation sequences even if they have little experience in the design of press working products. The computer-aided process planning in hot forging, deep drawing and blanking requires many kinds of technical and empirical skills based on investigation and collection of the knowledge of their processes. An approach to the CAPP system is based on the knowledge-based rules and the process knowledge base consisting of process planning rules is built. The methodology adopted to develop the system is elaborated in this paper. This system has been written in AutoLISP on the AutoCAD with a personal computer and provides powerful capabilities for process planning of hot forging, cold forging, deep drawing and blanking products.

Exploring Human Performance Technology (HPT) Models for Knowledge Workers

  • The purpose of this paper is to review a variety of challenges facing the Human Performance Technology (HPT) in supporting knowledge workers' performance, and to explore possible HPT models for knowledge workers. The first section of this paper investigates the core attributes and major models of HPT as a foundation. While HPT has a lot of strengths in terms of systemic, systematic, methodologically eclectic, evidence based, and results oriented approaches, some pitfalls - which could be detected if these principles were mindlessly applied to problem areas - are explored. The second section presents some considerations such as analysis, intervention design, and leadership that HP technologists need to take in order to make HPT a better field of practice for knowledge workers. The author also suggests a tentative diagnostic model and a process model for knowledge workers, core principles of which are based on systems thinking, in particular Senge's the fifth discipline and Checkland's soft systems methodology. The importance of formative evaluations to improve these models is noted as a conclusion.

  • 오늘날의 정보이용자는 단순 정보 차원 이상의 구체적인 지식을 필요로 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 지식 정보의 메카인 대학의 인적.지적 자원의 효과적 활용과 원활한 지식의 공유 및 교류를 가능하게 하는 지식관리시스템을 최소한의 비용으로 효과적으로 구축하기 위한 시스템의 개발방법과 설계에 대해 연구하였다.

  • Ubiquitous computing is a model of computing in which computer functions are integrated into everyday life, providing services and information in anywhere and anytime fashion. Augmented Reality is one of ubiquitous computing technologies to provide new paradigm utilized to interact between human and computer. By adding computer-generated non-visual information to real information and their interaction. user can get the improved and more knowledgeable information about real world. The purpose of this paper is the integration of AR and knowledge-base reasoning technology in ubiquitous computing. Through the introduced concept, it is enable to provide adequate knowledge in the process of ship design and manufacturing easily (Knowledge Everywhere). That is, this is a basic research to construct knowledge-based ubiquitous environment (KAD/KAM) in shipbuilding industry.

  • 본 연구에서는 정보통신 기반 체계적이고 효율적인 스포츠 이벤트 운영지원을 위한 온톨로지 기반 스포츠 이벤트 운영 정보 및 지식의 통합관리 방법을 제안하였다. 사용자에게 스포츠이벤트 운영관련 정보 및 지식에 대한 맞춤형 정보제공과 체계적인 정보 및 지식의 저장/관리를 위하여, 스포츠 이벤트의 라이프사이클과 핵심운영프로세스를 분석하였으며, 이를 근거로 지식체계 및 객관적 개념 온톨로지를 구축하였다. 또한 본 연구에서 제안하는 온톨로지 기반 지식 서비스를 골프 대회 운영지원에 적용하기 위한 지식 서비스 시스템 설계하였다.

  • In this paper, we developed an expert system that helped a machine-tool designer to select a moderate servomotor of the feed drive unit of a machine tool. With the specification of the drive unit, it searches for the set of servo-motors that have enough torque and power to satisfy the driving condition which the designer defines from the database. me database also contains knowledge and rules, which describe the design process and calculate design parameters of a feed drive. The knowledge-based design support module shows every steps of inference and reason for the solution that it provides.

  • A CAD system of grid element for vacuum fluorescent disply has been developed. In order to reduce design man-houre and human erros, it is used to automate the design process using a knowledge base system. In the case of VFD product design, the most important consideration is the short-life cycle. So the development of CAD system for VFD product is needed. The developed system is based on the knowledge base system which is involved in a lot of expert's technology in the practice field. Using C-language under the HP-UNIX system, CIS customer language of the EXCESS CAD/CAM is used as the overall CAD environment. Results of this system will provide effective aids to the designer in this field

  • Recently, as the shape and function of high-rise buildings have become more complex, engineering for reflecting the constructability in the design phase has the increasing importance. However, engineering tasks are not performed at the appropriate level and timing in most projects, which leads to inefficient work such as design changes and reworks. Hence, this study investigated the constructability knowledge, design elements, and supporting tools required to conduct engineering tasks related to temporary work at the design phase, and also analyzed the relationship between these factors using the correlation analysis. As a result, when the engineering tasks are applied in the design phase, constructability knowledge related to 'construction method and process' is the most important and the design factor related to 'layout/arrangement' should be considered as the most important factor. Based on the results of this study, the project participants can efficiently use necessary constructability knowledge during the design phase and facilitate effective decision-making and design alternatives for enhancing constructability.
