이 연구의 목적은 S 대학교 전공 선택 과목 중 하나인 영상번역 수업을 효율적으로 지도할 수 있는 수업 지도안을 활용하여 학생들의 영상번역에 대한 이해력과 수업 효과를 증명하는 것이다. 수강 후 설문지를 조사하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 수업 내용에 대한 반응과 만족도는 긍정적이고 매우 높았고 특히 영화 배경지식이 번역 실습하는데 도움이 되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 수업 효과는 자막 번역에 초점을 둔 것으로 설문에 응답한 결과를 축약 부분만 표로 나머지는 서술적으로 표현하였다. 구체적으로 축약, 대명사, 인물관계에 알맞은 호칭, 주어와 술어를 가까이 붙이기, 영화에 자주 나오는 표현에 대한 응답 비율이 가장 긍정적인 반응이 나타났고, 자연스러운 표현, 부호 쓰기, 존칭어와 반말 처리, 주어와 술어를 가까이 붙이기, 반대로 번역하기, 단위 환산 순으로 긍정적인 반응이 나타났다.

본 논문에서는 이종 분산 지식기반 시스템을 구축하는데에 온톨로지가 어떤 역할을 하는지에 대해 논의한다. 먼저 다중 에이전트 시스템 기반 지식 공유와 재사용의 구조물인 지식사회에서 온톨로지와 에이전트간 관계를 논의하는데 온톨로지는 각 에이전트에 있어 지식사회에 연결되기 위한 최소한의 요구조건이다. 둘째로 지식사회에서 온톨로지가 어떻게 사용되고 있는가를 보여주기 위해 온톨로지에 의한 중재를 설명한다. 중재자라 불리는 특별한 에이전트는 주소가 없는 메시지들을 분석해서 온톨로지와 상의하고 온톨로지와 에이전트간 관계를 참고로 해서 수신후보 에이전트들을 추론한다. 셋째, 개념화 방식을 나타낼 수 있는 각 상황들의 결합으로서 온톨로지를 모델링한다. 상황통합을 의미하는 결합상황 혹은 상황선택을 의미하는 범주 상황으로서 상황들이 결합된다. 상황에 의한 온톨로지는 실세계 현상에 대한 이종 다중 기술을 허용하기 때문에 이종 지식기반시스템에게는 적합하다. 또한 다중상황을 해석하는 방식으로서 메시지 번역을 보여준다. 번역에이전트는 상황들의 종속성을 분석하여 어떤 상황을 가진 메시지를 다른 상황을 가진 메시지로 번역할 수 있다. 에이전트들을 쉽고 자연스럽게 구축하기 위해서 메시지의 중재와 번역은 중요한데 각 에이전트에 대하여 다른 에이전트들에 대한 지식이 덜 요청되기 때문이다.

In the conventional systems, a human must have knowledge of machines and of their special language in communicating with machines. In one side, it is desirable for a human but in another side, it is true that achieving it is very elaborate and is also a significant cause of human error. To reduce this sort of human load, an intelligent man-machine interface is desirable to exist between a human operator and machines to be operated. In the ordinary human communication, not only linguistic information but also visual information is effective, compensating for each others defect. From this viewpoint, problem of translating verbal expressions to some visual image is discussed here in this paper. The location relation between any two objects in a visual scene is a key in translating verbal information to visual information, as is the case in Fig.l. The present translation system advances in knowledge with experience. It consists of Japanese Language processing, image processing, and Japanese-scene translation functions.

KANT(Knowledge-based Accurate Natural language Translation) 시스템 생성 엔진을 위한 한국어 언어 정보를 구축하였다. KANT 시스템은 언어 중립적인 생성 엔진을 갖고 있기 때문에 한국어 언어 정보의 구축은 사실상 한국어 생성 모듈의 개발을 의미한다. 구축된 언어 정보는 개념별 한국어 대응 규칙, 범주별 한국어 대응 규칙, 한국어 사전 및 템플리트 선언, 한국어 문법 규칙, 한국어 어휘 유형, 한국어 어휘 규칙, 한국어 다시 쓰기 규칙 등으로 구성된다. 구축된 언어 정보를 이용해 KANT 시스템 개발 측이 준비한 118 문장 분량의 중간 언어 표현로부터 106 문장을 올바르며 완전한 한국어 문장으로서 생성하였다.

PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)는 원자력 발전소의 디지털 제어시스템의 개발을 위해 널리 사용되어왔지만 복잡성의 증가와 유지보수 비용 등의 문제로 인해 FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) 기반 제어시스템이 대안으로 떠오르고 있다. 하지만 PLC 개발자가 FPGA 기반 제어시스템을 개발하기 위해서는 FPGA 개발을 위한 언어를 사용해야 하고 기존의 PLC 개발에서 획득한 노하우 및 지식의 재사용을 어렵게 만든다는 등의 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위해서 PLC 소프트웨어 개발을 위한 언어 중 하나인 FBD (Function Block Diagram)를 FPGA 개발을 위한 하드웨어 기술 언어 중 하나인 VHDL로의 자동 변환을 위한 방법과 이를 기반으로 개발한 자동 변환 도구인 FBDtoVHDL을 소개한다. 본 연구에서 소개하는 FBDtoVHDL 도구를 사용하여 FBD를 VHDL로 자동 변환함으로써 PLC 개발자는 하드웨어 기술 언어에 대한 지식이 없이도 FPGA 개발하는 것이 가능하다.

In recent years, most of the researches on pattern recognition are for medical diagnosis or for characters recognition. In fact its applications are very wide. In this paper, the pattern recognition is employed by linguistic translation, i.e. the output of Pattern Recognition is translated into another language. In this paper, it focuses on several fields: (1) System overview-explicate the functions of each part individually; (2) Criteria on the system-discuss the difficulties in each part; (3) System implementation-discuss how to design the approaches for constructing the system. Furthermore, intelligent approaches are considered be use on the system in different parts. They are discussed in the late paper, and also we concentrate on user interface, which can make a serious of processes in order, and easy control-just only pressing a few buttons. It is a new and creative attempt in digital system.

This paper describes our ongoing Korean-Chinese machine translation system, which is based on verb patterns. A verb pattern consists of a source language pattern part for analysis and a target language pattern part for generation. Knowledge description on lexical level makes it easy to achieve accurate analyses and natural, correct generation. These features are very important and effective in machine translation between languages with quite different linguistic structures including Korean and Chinese. We performed a preliminary evaluation of our current system and reported the result in the paper.

Translation has attained an important role in transmission and maintenance of human culture. As the world gets closer translation is regarded as one of the most useful means to carry knowledge and information through the language barrier. Translations of literary works in particular have been regarded as one of the most valuable means of helping people to understand and cooperate with one another in the interest of world peace. Korea has maintained a very close relationship with the United States of America since she first opened her door to the States in 1882. No one can deny that American has had a strong influence on Korean culture, politics, economics and education through the long close relationship between two countries. This study has been carried to find out how many and what American literary works have been introduced into Korea through translation from 1882 to 1982.

In a machine translation system, word sense disambiguation has an essential role in the proper translation of words when the target word can be translated differently depending on the context. Previous research on sense identification has mostly focused on adjacent words as context information. Therefore, in the case of nominal compounds, sense tagging of unit nouns mainly depended on other nouns surrounding the target word. In this paper, we present a practical method for the sense tagging of Korean unit nouns in a nominal compound. To overcome the weakness of traditional methods regarding the data sparseness problem, the proposed method adopts complement-predicate relation knowledge that was constructed for machine translation systems. Our method is based on a sentential form recovery technique, which recognizes grammatical relationships between unit nouns. This technique makes use of the characteristics of Korean predicative nouns. To show that our method is effective on text in general domains, the experiments were performed on a test set randomly extracted from article titles in various newspaper sections.
