본 연구는 지식정보사회의 등장 배경으로 세계화, 정보화, 네트워크화에 대하여 살펴보고 이들이 만들어낸 '지식지리학'의 연구분야와 지식정보사회에서의 경제지리학의 연구과제를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 1970년대 후반 세계화, 정보화, 네트워크화가 토대가 되어 지식정보사회를 맞이하였으며, 지식정보사회에서는 신경제가 주도적인 역할을 했다. 이러한 신경제는 높은 기술수준과 고부가가치를 가진 지식을 중요시하는 경제이므로 지리학 분야에서 투입과 산출과정에서 지식집약도가 높은 경제활동을 대상으로 하는 '지식지리학'의 등장을 가져왔다. '지식지리학'은 제조업의 첨단기술산업과 신산업집적론, 금융 서비스 산업, 미디어 산업, 문화산업, 창조산업 등이 넓은 의미에서의 지식창조로 경제지리학에서도 이에 대한 연구의 축적이 이루어지고 있다.

소프트웨어 글로벌화란 다양한 나라 및 문화에 적합한 소프트웨어를 쉽게 체계적으로 개발할 수 있도록 지원하는 활동이다. 지금까지 소프트웨어 글로벌화를 위한 노력은 주로 소프트웨어 구현 기술 및 도구 개발에 초점을 맞추어왔다. 하지만 다른 나라 및 문화에 판매되는 글로벌 소프트웨어 제품은 다양한 환경 차이에 의해 요구사항이 다르게 되고, 이러한 요구사항의 차이는 상이한 아키텍처 설계를 유도하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 아키텍처 설계 지식을 체계화된 지식 모델로 정의하고, 이러한 지식 모델을 작성하고 이용하는 방법론을 제안한다. 또한 디지털 데이터 방송용 셋톱박스 미들웨어 시스템의 아키텍처 설계에 제안된 모델과 방법론을 적용하여 타당성을 평가한다.

Global firms have to acquire various kinds of knowledge from worldwide markets and use it strategically in local markets. Especially, the ability to learn competitive advantage of an industry leader or competing firm is a critical factor in a firm's competitiveness. The concept of knowledge transfer has been used to explain these phenomena. However, with the broadening concept of knowledge and increasing importance of interaction between firms, the perspective of knowledge transfer has reached its limits. In this study we will conceptualize the new concept of 'knowledge translation', and analyze the globalization case of Hyundai Motor Co. to improve the validity and usefulness of this perspective. The results show that knowledge translation is a critical factor of success in a firm's globalization and efficient management of the knowledge translation process enhances a firm's global competitiveness.

Objectives : This study investigated the effects of teaching English medical journals to traditional Korean medical students as a way of integrated curriculum, focusing on evidence-based traditional Korean medicine (EBKM) in the light of globalization of traditional Korean Medicine. Methods : 232 students (l16 1st year and t 16 2nd year) were asked to complete a questionnaire at the end of the course in order to validate the course's efficacy on acquisition and utilization of the latest medical knowledge as well as change of attitude toward English itself. Results : The courses were very useful in reducing discomfort toward English journals and to applying the latest medical knowledge to academic reports, clinical practices, and finally to establish abilities for EBKM. The 1st year students who took the courses for two semesters consecutively showed more significant satisfaction than the 2nd year students with only one semester. Conclusion : The findings suggest that English medical journals are an essential curriculum f3r the advance of EBKM and globalization of traditional Korean Medicine and therefore developing adequate textbooks, teaching methods, and quality of instructors should be considered for successful achievements.

The purpose of this study is to provide useful information for establishing efficient marketing direction of globalization and commercialization of Korean foods by investigating the performance(satisfaction) and importance of food-coordinators' role. The results of the survey are summarized as follows: The most influential improvement variable of Korean food for globalization was 'hygiene'(23.6%) followed by 'taste', 'price', and 'shape and color'. Interest degree about food-coordinators showed 3.68 points in 5 points, and necessity of food-coordinators' job and education was 4.15 points. Food-coordinators' quality for globalization of Korean food was "a skill should be excellent"(4.51 points), "it must be original troubleshooting ability."(4.43 points) and "It must be professional ethics consciousness."(3.99 points) in the order. They were highly important of "freshness of food"(4.75 points) and "cleanliness of food and tableware" (4.65 points) in terms of the quality of korean food for globalization. The role importance of food-coordinators for globalization of Korean food was 'ability of development of Korean dish and Korean menu'(4.22 points), 'coordinate ability for various Korean special diet'(4.14 points) and 'knowledge for wann welcome service that consider table manners, service method and other person(4.12 points) in the order. The most influential unsatisfied variable of food coordinators' role was 'consulting ability connected with management of Korean restaurant' followed by 'ability of presenting concept connected with restaurant development of Korean style' and 'production ability for banquet party plan and representation in a Korean style'. In terms of IPA analysis on food-coordinators' role for globalization of korean food, it was noteworthy that items with high importance but low performance included "ability of development of Korean dish and Korean menu", "event coordinate ability connected with a Korean-style dish", and "production ability for banquet party plan and representation in a Korean style".

In recent years, knowledge has emerged as a major source of competitive advantage due to the continuous development of information and communication technology, the acceleration of globalization, and the entry into knowledge-based society. Thus interests in knowledge management have been increased significantly. Nevertheless theoretical backgrounds of knowledge management are not actively discussed. Studies on the knowledge management of R&D groups initiating knowledge creation and sharing are not actively conducted either. This study, therfore, provides a research model of knowledge management to investigate relationships among resource and institutional characteristics, knowledge management activities, and knowledge management performance of R&D groups based on knowledge-based theories and institutionalization theories. This study further offers research propositions inherent in the model.

Purpose - This paper empirically investigates the relationship between the Economic Complexity Index (ECI) and the level of development. Moreover, this research attempts to discover the determinants of ECI in the globalization wave. Design/methodology - Our empirical model considers the relationship between ECI and the level of development in middle- and high-income economies from 1995 to 2010 by using systemic qualitative analysis, including OLS, fixed-effects, and system GMM. Next, this research used OLS regression to find the determinants of ECI. In particular, we compared the effects of different factors on ECI in the different development stages. Findings - Our main findings can be summarized as follows: 1. If the ECI increases by 1, it could lead to an increase of about 30% in the level of development in middle- and high-income economies. 2. Human capital plays an important role in the development of and increase in ECI. 3. GVC participation and outflow FDI enhance an increase in ECI, in particular in middle-income economies. 4. The development of manufacturing industries is helpful to increase ECI; however, middle-income economies should pay more attention to their comparative advantage industries. 5. R&D has positive effects on the ECI. Originality/value - To the best of our knowledge, this is the first paper that uses systemic qualitative analysis to investigate the relationship between ECI and the level of development. The paper provides suggestions for policy makers to increase ECI under the current wave of globalization, in particular in middle-income economies.

The creation of S&T knowledge and development of S&T- based innovation has spread worldwide from traditionally advanced countries to traditionally developing countries, often under the direction of governments. Korea is an exemplar in this new locus. Korea's burst in Science and Technology during the last three decades has made Korea a substantive player in the global production of S&T knowledge and its application to business. Although Korea still trails the US and other top countries in the quality of research, it has leaped from its 1980s standing as bit player in the knowledge economy to being among the leaders in the early 21st Century. This paper shows that Korea's advance benefited from its active participation in the global market in higher education, in international research collaborations, and its close ties to the U.S. Korea's experience offers lessons for other countries who seek to advance by becoming knowledge economies. Korea proves that a developing country can gain comparative advantage in knowledge production and use; that government policy can stimulate such a development; and that openness to the world of higher education and research is the best way to move forward and overcome the middle income trap.

한국의 급속한 세계화는 과학 분야에도 어김없이 적용된다. 지금까지 과학의 세계화에 대한 연구는 SCI 등재 저널에 출판된 논문 수의 증감을 중심으로 이루어져 왔다. 본 연구에서는 한국의 과학지식 세계화에 있어서 생산, 유통 그리고 소비의 차원을 각각 살펴봐야 할 것을 제안하며, 과학지식 생산과 유통에 있어서 세계화를 고찰한다. 기초과학, 응용과학, 의학 각 분야에서 대표적인 한국 SCI 저널을 선정하여 국내외 공동연구 추이 및 국외 연구자 참여 논문 증가 추세를 살펴보고, 국가 수준의 공동연구 네트워크 구조의 비교를 통해 학문 분야별 차이를 짚어본다. 또한, 국내 SCI 저널에서 국외 연구자 포함 논문 출판이 증가하는 요인을 분석한다. 국가 수준에서의 공동연구 네트워크 구조 분석을 통해서는 학문 분야별로 국내 SCI 저널에 게재하는 국가들의 범위와 정도가 다름을 확인할 수 있었다. 한국 SCI 저널에 중국 연구자들의 참여가 가장 높은 반면, 지리적으로 인접하고 문화적으로 교류가 많은 미국 일본 연구자들의 참여 비율은 상대적으로 낮다. 이는 한국 과학저널의 위상 및 한국 과학지식의 세계화 수준을 보여주는 한 단면이라 할 수 있다. 국외저자 참여 논문 증가 요인을 고정효과가 통제된 모형(패널 회귀 모형)을 통해 살펴본 결과 출판 논문 수를 통제하였을 때, 2년 전의 영향력 지수와 1년 전의 국외 편집위원 수가 국외저자 참여 논문 수에 양의 영향을 끼친다는 것을 발견했다. 이는 영향력 지수가 과학지식 평판의 부익부빈익빈을 생성하는 요인임을 확인한다.
