  • As information resources have become more various and the number of the resources has increased, knowledge customization on the social web has been becoming more difficult. To reduce the burden, we offer a framework for context-based similarity calculation for knowledge customization using ontology on the CBR. Thereby, we newly developed context- and intensity-based similarity calculation methods which are applied to extraction of the most similar case considered semantic similarity and syntactic, and effective creation of the user-tailored knowledge using the selected case. The process is comprised of conversion of unstructured web information into cases, extraction of an appropriate case according to the user requirements, and customization of the knowledge using the selected case. In the experimental section, the effectiveness of the developed similarity methods are compared with other edge-counting similarity methods using two classes which are compared with each other. It shows that our framework leads higher similarity values for conceptually close classes compared with other methods.

  • The requirements of knowledge customization have increased as information resources have become more various and the numbers of the resources are increased. Even if the method for collecting the information has improved like Really Simple Syndication (RSS), information users are still struggling for extracting and customizing the required information through the Web. To reduce the burden, we offer the dynamic knowledge customization framework by using ontology-based CBR. The framework consisting of three phases is comprised of the conversion phase of web information as a machine-accessible case, the extraction phase to find a case appropriate for information users' requirements, and the case customization phase to create knowledge depending on information user's requirements. Newly, the dynamic and intensity-based similarity is adopted to support timely dynamic change of users' requirements. The framework has adopted to create traveler's knowledge to the level users wanted.

  • To know about the performance of KREONET, we installed an active network performance measurement tool, PingER. For customization, we modified its architecture and some codes. Although this customization is a minor change of PingER, it gives much benefit and convenience for both operators and users. Using PingER, we can measure the effect of the STAR TAP link. The new networking through the link is a little bit slower than the previous networking. But the new link shows far fewer packet losses and provides more reliable networking.

  • Purpose: This study aims to investigate the factors influencing the adoption of Generative AI in the workplace, focusing on both enablers and inhibitors. By employing the dual factor theory, this research examines how knowledge support, customization, entertainment, perceived risk, realistic threat, and identity threat impact the intention to adopt Generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT. Methods: Data were collected from 192 participants via MTurk, all of whom had experience using Generative AI. The survey was conducted in June 2024, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to ensure the validity and reliability of the measurement model. Attention-check questions were used to ensure data quality, and participants provided demographic information at the end of the survey. Results: : The findings reveal that knowledge support and entertainment significantly enhance the intention to adopt Generative AI, whereas realistic threat poses a substantial barrier. Customization, perceived risk, and identity threat did not significantly affect adoption intentions. Conclusion: This study contributes to the literature by addressing the gap in understanding the adoption mechanisms of Generative AI in professional settings. It highlights the importance of promoting AI's knowledge support and entertainment capabilities while addressing employees' concerns about job security. Organizations should emphasize these benefits and proactively mitigate perceived threats to foster a positive reception of Generative AI technologies. The findings offer practical implications for enhancing user acceptance and provide a foundation for future research in this area.

  • The computer is an important tool to design an engineering system and CAD systems are widely used for various design practice. To meet the market requirements, the old mass production system is being changed into the mass customization system. As for CAD systems, it is increasingly required to extend, automate, and customize a wide range of functionality. This article describes the state-of-the-art of the principal technologies for customizing CAD systems. And we have implemented an application that enables the parametric design by directly inputting numerical values of parameters for a CAD model. Based on this application, we have developed another system that makes it possible sharing of part family data between SolidEdge and Pro/Engineer. Through customization of CAD systems, it is possible to improve the product quality using external knowledge-based systems or to integrate with external system such as CAE tools. This paper can be a guide for engineering designers who want to customize CAD systems.

  • This study aims to discuss what changes Korean clothing companies and manufacturers have undergone with production facilities moving abroad due to offshore outsourcing and examine what conditions the clothing manufacturers are facing and how the clothing companies recognize those manufacturers. For these purposes, in-depth interviews were conducted with 24 firms with annual production capacity of more than 200,000 pieces among clothing brands for the domestic market, clothing exporters and promotion agencies. Those interviewed firms were the companies who were found to produce more than 200,000 pieces of clothing per year, and the interview-based survey was conducted from December 18, 2008 to January 30, 2009. The key findings from this study are as follows; first, a high percentage of interviewed firms were producing only a small number of items in Korea with a large part of their production line transferred abroad or outsourcing all of their production abroad only with their headquarters in Korea. Second, many were employing contractors rather than their own factories. Third, when asked about the wage levels of clothing manufacturers, many of the clothing companies gave responses such as: 'They are just our contractor, so we respect their decision,' 'We don't know because it's none of our business,' or 'We don't know at all.' Fourth, when asked about the work environment of clothing manufacturers, the clothing companies gave responses such as: 'We know in part,' 'To our knowledge, they conform to the Labor Standards Law,' or 'We don't know at all.' Fifth, the production line of clothing manufacturers featured straight-line systems, specialization, pairing and compounding/mixing. Sixth, it was found that clothing companies had interest in mass customization but their preparations were not satisfactory.

  • This work addresses a three-dimensional nonlinear structural analysis of the constructive phases of a cable-stayed segmental concrete bridge using The Finite Element Method through ANSYS, version 14.5. New subroutines have been added to ANSYS via its UPF customization tool to implement viscoelastoplastic constitutive equations with cracking capability to model concrete's structural behavior. This numerical implementation allowed the use of three-dimensional twenty-node quadratic elements (SOLID186) with the Element-Embedded Rebar model option (REINF264), conducting to a fast and efficient solution. These advantages are of fundamental importance when large structures, such as bridges, are modeled, since an increasing number of finite elements is demanded. After validating the subroutines, the bridge located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and known as "Ponte do Saber" (Bridge of Knowledge, in Portuguese), has been numerically modeled, simulating each of the constructive phases of the bridge. Additionally, the data obtained numerically is compared with the field data collected from monitoring conducted during the construction of the bridge, showing good agreement.
