We have developed and demonstrated the use of a new kinetic method as an analytical tool for the measurement of $HO_2{\cdot}/O_2{\cdot}^-$. This new method is based on the reduction of $Fe^{3+}$-Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetate, EDTA) into $Fe^{2+}$-EDTA by $HO_2{\cdot}/O_2{\cdot}^-$ and the well-known Fenton-like reaction of $H_2O_2$ and $Fe^{2+}$-EDTA to yield the hydroxyl radicals ($OH{\cdot}$). Since this method for $HO_2{\cdot}/O_2{\cdot}^-$ shows high sensitivity and allows a simple calibration system, it can contribute significantly to understanding the basic functions of $HO_2{\cdot}/O_2{\cdot}^-$ in advanced oxidation processes for water treatment. Moreover, the present technique has the advantage of using inexpensive and easily available nonenzymatic reagents and of being insensitive to the moderate concentration of possible interferences often found in aqueous phase.
A simple and new experimental method for determination of lysozyme-M. lysodeikticus cell lysis reaction and lysozyme activity was suggested using Beer's law. The UV transmittance of the solution changed with the concentration of M. lysodeikticus and the relationship between the UV transmittance and M. lysodeikticus cell concentration followed Beer's Law. In addition, it was experimentally proven that the UV transmittance of the solution was not influenced by the lysozyme concentration and product of the lysis reaction. During the lysozyme-M. lysodeikticus cell lysis reaction, thus, M. lysodeikticus cell concentration in the solution could be measured in-situ by UV-spectrophotometer. By using these experimental data, kinetic Parameters of the Michaelis-Menten equation for the lysozyme-M. lysodeikticus cell 1ysis reaction was simply determined The maximum reaction rate constant ($k_3$) and Michaelis-Menten constants were $0.1734sec^{-1}$ and $9.83{\times}10^{-6}M$ respectively. The activity of the lysozyme could also be obtained with this experiment because the lysis reaction rate of the 1ysozyme depended on its activity.
In order to investigate the adsorption characteristics for Sr ion using the Na-X zeolite synthesized from coal fly ash, batch tests and response surface analyses were carried out. The adsorption kinetic data for Sr ions, using Na-X zeolite, fitted well with the pseudo-second-order model. The uptake of Sr ions followed the Langmuir isotherm model, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 196.46 mg/g. Thermodynamic studies were conducted at different reaction temperatures, with the results indicating that Sr ion adsorption by Na-X zeolite was an endothermic (${\Delta}H^o$>0) and spontaneous (${\Delta}G^o$<0) process. Using the response surface methodology of the Box-Behnken method, initial Sr ion concentration ($X_1$), initial temperature ($X_2$), and initial pH ($X_3$) were selected as the independent variables, while the adsorption of Sr ions by Na-X zeolite was selected as the dependent variable. The experimental data fitted well with a second-order polynomial equation by multiple regression analysis. The value of the determination coefficient ($R^2=0.9937$) and the adjusted determination coefficient (adjusted $R^2=0.9823$) was close to 1, indicating high significance of the model. Statistical results showed the order of Sr removal based on experimental factors to be initial pH > initial concentration > temperature.
The determination of rate limiting step in the metabolic process is of great importance to understand the metabolic properties. In this paper the authors propose a modified enzymatic method instead of thermodynamic method. This method is based on the assumption that the over-all rate increment would be larger than by any other steps to which the individual enzyme are added respectively, provided that the enzyme participated in the rate limiting step is added to the reactions composed of n steps of metabolic process with which n kind of enymes are concerned. The present paper deals with analysis and discussion about some factors having influence on the proposed process, mainly about the metabolic process constituted with homogeneous steps. The results show that the determination of rate limiting step by a modified enzymatic method is feasible, provided that some restrictions are added in any type of mechanisms.

Inertia friction welding, a relatively recent innovation in the art of joining materials, is a forge-welding process that releases kinetic energy stored in the flywheel as frictional heat when two parts are rubbed together under the right conditions. In a comparatively short time, the process has become a reliable method for joining ferrous, and dissimilar metals. The process is based on thrusting one part, attached to a flywheel and rotating at a relatively high speed, against a stationary part. The contacting surfaces, heated to plastic temperatures, are forged together to produce a reliable, high-strength weld. Welds are made with little or no workpiece preparation and without filler metal or fluxes. However, In order to obtain a good weld, the determination of the optimum weld parameters is an important problem. Especially, because the amount of the flywheel mass will be determined according to the initial rotating velocity values at the constant thrust load, the initial rotating velocity is an important factor to affect a weld character of the inertia-welded IN713C-SAE8630, which is used for the wheel-shafts of turbine rotors or turbochargers, exhausting valves, etc. In this paper, the effects of initial rotational velocity on a weld character of inertia-welded IN713C-SAE8630 was studied through considerations of weld parameters determination, micro-structural observations and tensile tests. The results are as the following: 1) As initial rotating velocity was reduced to 267 FPM, cracks and carbide stringers were completely eliminated in the micro-structure of welded zone. 2) As initial rotating velocity was reduced and flywheel mass was increased correspondingly, the maximum welding temperatures were decreased and the plastic working in the weld zone was increased. 3) As initial rotating velocity was progressively decreased and carbides were decreased, the tensile strengths were increased. 4) And also the fracture location moved out of the weld zone and the tensile tests produced, the failures only in the cast superalloy IN713C which do not extend into the weld area. 5) The proper initial rotating velocity could be determined as about 250 thru 350 FPM for the better weld character.

A 3-dimensional numerical model of wind-induced flows has been established. and comparative evaluation of determination methods of vertical eddy viscosity has been performed. The model uses turbulence models to calculate vertical eddy viscosity. The examined methods arp 0-equation model of functional form, 1-equation model of turbulence kinetic energy, and two 2-equation models ($textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ and $textsc{k}$-ι models). The evaluation includes the verification tests against experimental data for wind-driven current On a closed one-dimensional channel and a recirculating one-dimensional channel. Comparative study of turbulence models has shown that the proper distribution of turbulence scale is parabolic and the eddy viscosity is depending strongly on mixing depth due to wind.

We present a set of high-resolution 3D MHD simulations exploring the evolution of light, supersonic jets in cluster environments. We model sets of high- and low-Mach jets entering both uniform surroundings and King-type atmospheres and propagating distances more than 100 times the initial jet radius. Through complimentary analyses of synthetic observations and energy flow, we explore the detailed interactions between these jets and their environments. We find that jet cocoon morphology is strongly influenced by the structure of the ambient medium. Jets moving into uniform atmospheres have more pronounced backflow than their non-uniform counterparts, and this difference is clearly reflected by morphological differences in the synthetic observations. Additionally, synthetic observations illustrate differences in the appearances of terminal hotspots and the x-ray and radio correlations between the high- and low-Mach runs. Exploration of energy flow in these systems illustrates the general conversion of kinetic to thermal and magnetic energy in all of our simulations. Specifically, we examine conversion of energy type and the spatial transport of energy to the ambient medium. Determination of the evolution of the energy distribution in these objects will enhance our understanding of the role of AGN feedback in cluster environments.

A dimeric precursor, $[Cu(dmae)(OCOCH_3)(H_2O)]_2$ for the CVD of copper metal films, (dmaeH = N,N-dimethylaminoethanol) was synthesized by the reaction of copper(II) acetate monohydrate ($Cu(OCOCH_3)_2{\cdot}H_2O$) and dmaeH in toluene. The product was characterized by m.p. determination, elemental analysis and X-ray crystallography. Molecular structure of $[Cu(dmae)(OCOCH_3)(H_2O)]_2$ shows that a dimeric unit $[Cu(dmae)(OCOCH_3)(H_2O)]_2$ is linked to another through hydrogen bond and it undergoes facile decomposition at 300 C to deposit granular copper metal film under nitrogen atmosphere. The decomposition temperature, thermal behaviour, kinetic parameters, evolved gas pattern of the complex, morphology, and the composition of the film were also investigated.
It was attempted in this study to assess the vitamin $B_{1},\;B_{2}$, and $B_6$ status in tissue by determination of erythrocyte transketolase (TK), glutathione reductase (GR), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activities, and their activation by their respective coenzymes, thiamine pyrophosphate, flavin-adenine dinucleotide, and pyridoxal-5-phosphate. The activities of erythrocyte enzymes were stable for more than 30 days when erythrocyte had been stored at $-20^{\circ}C$ and affirmed that the enzyme activities were more stable in the case of deep frozen sotrage of erythrocytes rather than hemolysates. The assay procedures involving ultraviolet kinetic analysis with continuous monitoring for each of enzymes have good within-batch and between-batch precisions and will be avalable in the routine laboratories for the nutritional and clinical surveys. Activity coefficient of TK, GR, and AST was studied in healthy medical students (fifteen men and twelve women, between 21 and 30 years old) on an unrestricted diet. The mean activity coefficient of TK, GR, and AST were 1.18, 1.35, and 2.01 for men, and 1.14, 1.33, and 1.83 for women, respectively. And the upper limit of normal (mean+2SD) were 1.52, 1.69, and 2.61 for men, and 1.50, 1.61, and 2.37 for women, respectively.

This study is aimed at determining an algorithm capable of estimating the erosion index of rainfall for the region of Maceió-Alagoas in the northeast of Brazil. The sample of the truncated data from 2003 to 2006 counts 26,889 droplet size distributions integrated per minute, with 680 rain events with duration longer than 10 minutes. The equation proposed to estimate erosion index used as a dependent variable and independent variable, presenting a coefficient of determination of 99%. The statistical significance validated the relation between minimum rainfall intensity and erosion.
