Digital Blood Pressure Estimation with the Differential Value of the Arterial Pulse Waveform (맥파의 차동값에 의한 디지털 방식의 혈압 추정 기법)

  • We proposed the new method to estimate the blood pressure with the differential value of the digital arterial pulse waveform and BP relation equation. To get the digital arterial pulse waveform, we use the arterial pulse waveform measurement system that has digital air-pressure sensor device and smart phone. The acquired digital arterial pulse waveforms are classified as hypertension group, normal group, and hypotension group, and we can derive the average differential value between the highest point and lowest point of a single waveform of individuals along with the group. In this study, we found the functional correlation between the blood pressure and differential value as a form of BP relation equation through the regression process on the average of differential value and blood pressure value from a tonometer. The Experimental results show the BP relation equation can give easy blood pressure estimation method with a high accuracy. Although this estimation method has over 66 % error rate and does not give the high level of the accuracy for the diastolic compares to the commercial tonometer, the estimation results for the systolic show the high accuracy that has less than 10 % error rate.

Dual Path Impacts of the Consumer Innovativeness in the New Products Adoption Situation (소비자의 감각적 혁신성향과 인지적 혁신성향이 신제품 구매의도에 미치는 이중 경로)

  • There are many researches about effects of consumer innovativeness on the new product adoption behavior. However most of these studies regard this construct as one dimensional concept so that the extant studies suggest very ambiguous results about the relationship between consumer innovativeness and adoption behavior. This study subdivides the construct as cognitive innovativeness and sensory one and suggest these two types of consumer innovativeness affect on the risk perception of the potential adopter differently when the consumer adopt new product. In the empirical research through regression analysis and structure equation model with 217 samples, the study shows the consumer who have high level of cognitive innovativeness are more sensitive to functional risk of new products compared to one who have high level of sensory innovativeness. On the other side, sensory innovative consumer perceive social risk more when they adopt new products than cognitive innovator who have higher level of cognitive innovativeness. The result means there are dual paths on the relationship between consumer innovativeness and new products adoption behavior. Unlike the early studies, this study shows that there's dual path in relationship between the consumer's innovativeness and new product adoption. That is the consumer who have higher sensory innovativeness perceive the social risk of new products more sensitively than functional risk but the consumer who have cognitive innovativeness perceive functional risk more. So, new product adoption behavior would be different depending on the sensory or cognitive innovativeness.

Health-related quality of life in female patients with reumatoid arthritis: a structural equation model (여성 류마티스 관절염 환자의 건강관련 삶의 질 구조모형)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to construct a structural equation model to explain and predict factors affecting the health-related quality of life (QoL) in female rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients based on the health-related QoL model by Ferrans et al. (2005) and a literature review. Methods: Patients (N=243) who were either registered members of an internet cafe composed of patients with RA or rheumatology outpatients at two tertiary general hospitals in Busan, Korea, were recruited via convenience sampling. Data were collected from July 2 to September 9, 2021, and the survey was conducted using a web-based questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS and AMOS 26.0. Results: The goodness-of-fit statistics of the final model exhibited good results (χ2/degree of freedom=2.68, Turker-Lewis index=.94, comparative fit index=.96, standardized root mean-squared residual=.04, root mean- square error of approximation=.08), and 11 out of 14 paths of the model were supported. The squared multiple correlation, which reflected the explanatory power of the environmental characteristics, symptoms, functional status, and perceived health status on health-related QoL, was 80%. In the hypothesis model, 10 paths had significant direct effects, 6 paths had significant indirect effects, and 12 paths had significant total (direct and indirect) effects. Conclusion: Considering that factors directly affecting the health-related QoL of female patients with RA were social support, symptoms (fatigue and depression), resilience, and perceived health status, and that resilience was the most influential factor, clinicians can encourage resilience. Hence, to improve the health-related QoL of female patients with RA, continuing management is necessary, using various intervention methods that focus on enhancing resilience from the early stage to the end of treatment for RA.

Factors Affecting Relative Attractiveness and Adoption of Convergence Products (컨버전스제품의 상대적 매력도와 채택의 영향요인)

  • Purpose This study reviews technology acceptance research in the information system area and consumer behavior research in the marketing area, sets characteristics of convergence products, personality of consumers and communication channels as main concepts and demonstrates their effects on 'relative level of attraction' and 'intent to adoption. Design/methodology/approach The survey was conducted against potential consumers who have the intent to purchase electric communication media products that provides a variety of functions and service, such as a smart TV, a tablet PC and a smart watch. All items were adapted from previous literature and revised as appropriate the purpose of this study and measured on a 7-point Likert scale with answer choices ranging from "strongly disagree" (1) to (7) "strongly agree." Totally, 300 respondents participated in the survey. Out of the 276 respondents, incomplete or invalid 24 were discarded. With them, SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 20.0 for structural equation modeling were used for the analysis. Findings Main findings are as followed;- First, it is found that 'interrelationship of technology' and 'functional diversification' of convergence products has positive effects on relative level of attraction. Second, perceived behavior control has significant effects on the intent to adoption convergence products. Third, communication through mass media has positive effects on making potential consumers feel attraction about products while there is no relationship with the intent to a. On the other hands, it is demonstrated that there is no relationship influential relationship between communication through interpersonal channels and relative level of attraction while communication through interpersonal channels has significant effects on the intent to adoption.

The Effect of Market Orientation on Social Media Marketing Performance in Korean Financial Institutions (금융기업의 시장지향성이 소셜미디어 마케팅 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The study supports not only the implicative results and strategic implication to social media staff and managers, but also extended the marketing studies in Korean financial institutions. This paper examined the effect of market orientation on social media marketing performance in the Korean financial institituions. Narver and Slater's market orientation theory was employed for the structural equation model framework. Indirect and direct implication on the social media marketing performance were analyzed. This study conducted online survey social media marketing staff and managers in 230 Korean financial institutions such as banks, securities, asset management, credit card, insurance companies. 102 responses were collected and analyzed. The results revealed that financial institutions' customer orientation, competitor orientation and inter-functional coordination have a positive impact on marketing communications execution degree but not direct effect on social media marketing performance except competitor orientation. Although it does not appear to have a statistically significant association between market orientation two concepts such as customer orientation and inter-functional coordination, and social media marketing performance directly, the competitive orientation has statistically positive impact.

Studies on the Functional Properties of Modified Soy Protein Isolate (변형대두 단백질의 기능 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Soy protein isolate was acylated with succinic anhydride and acetic anhydride. The functional properties are markedly improved by acylation of the $\varepsilon$-amino groups. Acylation of the available amino groups shifted the isoelectric point from 4.5 to 4.0 and enhanced the solubility between pH 4.0-6.0. In the 0.03M-$CaCl_2$ solution the solubility of the modified soy protein is much larger than that of the unmodified protein above the isoelectric point. The emulsion properties and foaming properties also improved by the modification and the effects of pH on the properties paralleled its effect on protein solubility. The changes of reduced viscosity with concentration followed Huggin's equation and by modification the intrinsic viscosity of the soy protein increased and the interaction coefficient decreased.

Optical flow of heart images by image-flow conservation equation and functional expansion (영상유체보존식과 함수전개법에 의한 심장영상의 광류)

  • The displacement field (Optical flow) has been calculated by bottom-up approaches based on local processing. In contrast with them, in this paper, a top-down approach based on expanding in turn from the lowest order mode the whole motion in an image pair of sequential images is proposed. The intensity of medical images usually represents a quantity which is conserved during the motion. Hence sequential images are ideally related by a coordinate transformation. The displacement field can be determined from the generalized moments of the two images. The equations which transform arbitrary generalized moments from a source image to a target image are expressed as a function of the displacement field. The appareent displacement field is then computed iteratively by a projection method which utilizes the functional derivatives of the linearized moment equations. This method is demonstrated using a pair of sequential heart images. For comparative evaluation, we applied Horn and Schunck's method, a standard multigrid method, and our proposed algorithm to sequential image.

Characteristics of Glucose Oxidase Reaction of Onion Juice (양파 착즙액과 포도당 산화효소의 반응 특성)

  • The onions are considered to be a favorable functional source of beverage because they contain much sugar and various nutrients, and they are juicy vegetable. Recently, consumers have a new trend to take functional foods with health benefits. To meet this need, this study was the basic research to establish a manufacturing process of functional onion beverage by glucose oxidase. Glucose oxidase catalyzes reaction of glucose oxidation and makes generation of gluconic acid. Kinetics of the reaction was also investigated, and maximum glucose consumption rate $(V_{max})$ of $26.1{\times}10^{-2}\;g/L{\cdot}min$ and $K_m$ of 5.84 g/L were obtained. Optimum conditions were obtained when the glucose oxidase catalyzed reaction was carried out at temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, agitation rate of 450 rpm and aeration rate of 4 vvm in a 2.5 L jar fermentor. Finally, the enzyme reactor was 10-times scaled up and a similar glucose oxidation performance was achieved in the scaled-up reactor.

Defects and Electrical Properties of NiO and Co3O4-doped ZnO-Bi2O3-Sb2O3 Ceramics (NiO와 Co3O4를 첨가한 ZnO-Bi2O3-b2O3 세라믹스의 결함과 전기적 특성)

  • In this study we aims to examine the effects of $Co_3O_4$ and NiO doping on the defects and electrical properties in ZnO-$Bi_2O_3-Sb_2O_3$ (Sb/Bi=0.5) varistors. It seemed to form ${Zn_i}^{{\cdot}{\cdot}}$(0.20 eV) and ${V_o}^{\cdot}$(0.33 eV) as dominant defects in Co and Ni co-doped ZBS system, however only ${V_o}^{\cdot}$ appeared in Co- or Ni-doped ZBS. Even though the same defects it was different in capacitance (1.5~4.5 nF) and resistance ($0.3{\sim}9.5k{\Omega}$). The varistor characteristics were improved with Co and Co+Ni doping (non-linear coefficient, ${\alpha}$= 36 and 29, relatively) in ZBS. The various parameters ($N_d=1.43{\sim}2.33{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3}$, $N_t=1.40{\sim}2.28{\times}10^{12}cm^{-2}$, ${\Phi}b$=1.76~2.37 V, W= 98~118 nm) calculated from the C-V characteristics in our systems did not depend greatly on the type of dopant, which were in the range of a typical ZnO varistors. It should be derived a improved C-V equation carefully for more reliable parameters because the variation of the varistor capacitance as a function of the applied dc voltage is depend on the defect, frequency, and temperature.

Effect of potassium permanganate pretreatment of pitch on the textural properties of pitch-based activated carbons

  • Petroleum pitch-based activated carbons (ACs) were obtained in this work from a combination of pretreatment with different amounts of potassium permanganate ($KMnO_4$) and chemical activation with potassium hydroxide. The surface characteristics of the pitch after the $KMnO_4$ pretreatment were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The structural characteristics of the pitch after the $KMnO_4$ pretreatment were determined by means of X-ray diffraction. The influence of the $KMnO_4$ treatment on the textural properties of the petroleum pitch-based ACs was investigated by means of $N_2$/77K adsorption isotherms. The investigation also involved the use of the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller equation and the Dubinin-Radushkevich method. The FT-IR results show that the pretreatment promotes the formation of surface oxygen functionalities and leads to an increase of the interplanar distance ($d_{002}$) of the functional groups induced between carbon layers. Moreover, the specific surface area of the pitch-based ACs increases in proportion to the amount of $KMnO_4$ pretreatment and reaches its highest value of 2334 $m^2$/g with 2 g of $KMnO_4$ because the surface oxygen groups of the pitch act as an active site during chemical activation.
