The purpose of this study was to analyze customer attraction effects of restaurant promotion for kids. The questionnaires were distributed to 300 parents who have children under 12 years old and a total of 269 questionnaires were collected and used in analysis(usage rate 90.0%). The data was analyzed using SPSS 12.0 for descriptive analysis and paired t-test. The major results were as follows; First, customers mainly got information on coupon from mail. In case of premium and membership, the information was obtained when customers were visiting restaurants. Second, among the types of promotion for kids, coupon was mostly preferred by customers. 'Discount coupon' for the coupon, 'free gift' for the premium and 'pay-back' program for the membership were more preferable than other types of kids promotion. Third, A 'discount coupon' was more effective than 'free coupon'(p<.0l) in term of customer inducement. In case of premium, 'free gift' was more effective than 'lottery'(p<.05) and in case of membership, the customer attraction effect was not significantly different according to the types of membership. In case of coupon and membership, it was more effective in family restaurant than fastfood restaurant(p<.05), but the effect of premium was not significantly different in family vs fastfood restaurant. The results of the study revealed that 'coupon' was the most preferred type of promotion for kids and specifically customers preferred 'discount coupon', 'free gift' and 'pay-back program'.
Background: Using KIDS-KAERS database (KIDS-KD) from 2016 to 2020, the aim is to investigate signals of adverse events of alpha-adrenoceptor antagonists and to present adverse events that are not included in the precautions for use when marketing approval. Methods: This study was conducted by disproportionality analysis. Data mining analysis was performed to detect signals of alpha-adrenoceptor antagonists, such as terazosin, doxazosin, alfuzosin, silodosin, and tamsulosin. The signal was defined by three criteria as proportional reporting ratio (PRR), reporting odds ratio (ROR), and information component (IC). Detected signals were compared with product labeling and the European Medicines Agency-Important Medical Events list. Results: Out of the total number of 408,077 reports for adverse events, 6,750 cases were reported as adverse events of alpha-adrenoceptor antagonists. Dizziness, mouth dryness, hypotension postural, and oedema peripheral are identified as common adverse events of five alpha-adrenoceptor antagonists and are typically listed on drug labels. However, new signals were detected for pneumonia, chronic obstructive airway disease, eye diseases such as glaucoma and cataracts, fracture, and ileus of tamsulosin that were not previously listed on the drug labels in Korea. Conclusions: This study identified signals related to adverse drug reactions of alpha-adrenoceptor antagonists and presented serious adverse events, suggesting new adverse reactions to be aware of when using alpha-adrenoceptor antagonists.
Objectives: To introduce a protocol of Mobi-kids study which was aimed to examine an association between radiofrequency (RF) radiation exposure by mobile phone use and brain tumor risk in children and adolescents. Methods: The Mobi-kids study was a multinational matched case control study using a standardized protocol with the number of subjects targeted about 1,000 cases and 2,000 controls aged 10 to 24. In Mobi-Kids Korea, the source population was restricted to Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do province. Eligible cases of primary brain tumor (glioma, meningioma, and others) were diagnosed from January 2012 to June 2015. Eligible controls were appendicitis patients operated during the study period. Two controls were matched on age, gender, and study region for 1 case. Information about pattern and history of mobile phone use and other covariates were obtained by face to face interview by trained interviewer. The Mobi-kids study has been involved in Mobi-expo as a validation study about mobile phone use, XGridmaster to localize tumor in the brain for RF energy calculation, and histological review for validation of diagnosis. Results: The Mobi-kids was the first and largest study in children and adolescents to estimate risk of brain tumor in association with the RF energy absorption in the brain estimated by mobile phone use. Forty-six-cases and 54 controls were collected as of September 2014 in Korea. Conclusions: The meaningful results of the study were expected because of the largest sample size, high validity of EMF exposure assessment as well as the susceptible study populationof children and adolescents.
The glass compositions of $PbO-SiO_2-B_2O_3$ system and $P_2O_5-PbO-ZnO$ system for the transparent dielectric materials for front panel and $P_2O_5$-ZnO-BaO and $SiO_2-ZnO-B_2O_3$ for the reflective dielectric materials for back panel of PDP (Plasma Display Panel) were investigated. As a result, transparent dielectric materials for front panel showed good dielectric properties, high transparency, and proper thermal expansion matching to soda lime glass substrate. And the reflective dielectric layers for back panel were prepared from two series of parent glass and oxide filler. It was found that these glassceramics are useful materials for dielectric layers in PDP device, as they have similar thermal expansion to soda-lime glass plate, high reflectance, and low sintering temperature. In particular, the addition of $BPO_4$ and $TiO_2$ as fillers to $SiO_2-ZnO-B_2O_3$ system is considered to be the most effective for acquiring good properties of lower dielectric layer for PDP device.
Childhood verbal communication impacts children's language skills and has a positive effect as partners use more vocabulary. But reduction in family time, caused by lowered age for private education and so on, has reduced the chance for children to speak with partners who have a proficient language skill. This vacancy was naturally occupied by the media, which has become one of the cornerstones of the growth of kids' contents. Kids contents are making various attempts to expand the breadth of services. But most contents still focus on unilateral visual information delivery yet, so there is a limit to satisfy the vacancy of conversation partners. Therefore this paper suggests an ECA(Embodied conversational agent) to induce children's spoken conversation using a virtual character frequently used in kids contents. This system is implemented by the voice bot and agent model produced using an IBM assistant and Unity. As a result of using ECA for 66 children of 5-9 years old, it showed meaningful results in terms of induction of verbal communication.
The objective of the study was to determine the effect of Acacia karroo supplementation on growth, ultimate pH, colour and cooking losses of meat from indigenous Xhosa lop-eared goats. Eighteen castrated 4-month-old kids were used in the study until slaughter. The kids were subdivided in two treatment groups A. karroo supplemented (AK) and non-supplemented (NS). The supplemented goats were given 200 g per head per d of fresh A. karroo leaves. The kids were slaughtered on d 60 and sample cuttings for meat quality assessment were taken from the Longistimus dorsi muscle. The supplemented kids had higher (p<0.05) growth rates than the non-supplemented ones. The meat from the A. karroo supplemented goats had lower (p<0.05) ultimate pH and cooking loss than the meat from the non-supplemented goats. Acacia karroo supplemented goats produced higher (p<0.05) $b^*$ (yellowness) value, but supplementation had no significant effect on $L^*$ (lightness) and $a^*$ (redness) of the meat. Therefore, A. karroo supplementation improved growth performance and the quality of meat from goats.
In this paper, a detection and warning system is proposed for the remaining kids in a school bus. For detecting the remaining kids, an ultrasonic sensor is used. The basic experiments of the ultrasonic sensor are performed, and a modified ultrasonic sensor is proposed. Also, the appropriate location of the ultrasonic sensor is proposed by considering various sitting positions. Based on the above kid detection system, a warning algorithm is designed. Using the above detection and warning system, experiments are performed. From the experimental results, it is found that the proposed system, based on the modified ultrasonic sensor, can detect the remaining kids in a school bus. The proposed system can also give an appropriate warning signal.
Objective: To compare the transverse dental changes induced by the palatally applied Frog appliance and buccally applied Karad's integrated distalizing system (KIDS). Methods: We evaluated the pre- and post distalization orthodontic models of 39 patients, including 19 treated using the Frog appliance, which is palatally positioned (Frog group), and 20 treated using KIDS, which is buccally positioned (KIDS group). Changes in intermolar and interpremolar distances and the amount of maxillary premolar and molar rotation were evaluated on model photocopies. Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney U tests were used for statistical evaluations. A p-value of < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Significant distopalatal rotation of premolars and distobuccal rotation of molars were observed in Frog group (p < 0.05), while significant distopalatal rotation of molars (p < 0.05), with no significant changes in premolars, was observed in KIDS group. The amount of second premolar and first molar rotation was significantly different between the two groups (p < 0.05 and p < 0.001, respectively). Furthermore, expansion in the region of the first molars and second premolars was significantly greater in KIDS group than in Frog group (p < 0.001 for both). Conclusions: Our results suggest that the type and amount of first molar rotation and expansion vary with the design of the distalization appliance used.
