The purpose of this study was to investigate the physicochemical properties of Su Ri Chwi (Synurus Palmatopinnonatifidus var. indivisus KiTAM.) cooked in different solution (distilled water, 1%, salt and 1% sodium bicarbonate added water) and time. The content of crude fiber showed the highest percentage among the alcohol-insoluble solids of cooked Su Ri Chwi. The contents of Ca and Mg were decreased by the addition of 1% sodium bicarbonate. The main neutral sugars of alcohol insoluble solids were arabinose, galactose, and glucose. The content of glucose was increased regardless of method used. The main neutral sugars of crude pectins were rhamnose, arabinose and glucose. Galactose was increased by the cooking. The gel chromatography on Sepharose CL-4B indicated that the pectin extracted from cooked Su Ri Chwi had lower molecular weight distribution than that of the raw Su Ri Chwi. Total pectin was decreased by the cooking method used. The amounts of soluble pectins of Su Ri Chwi cooked in 1% sodium bicarbonate added water were lower than those of raw material.

Purpose To investigate the impact of Nosa Ki Jung-jin on the development of Sasang Constitutional Medicine by Dongmu Lee Je-ma. Objectives and Methods To establish the correlation between Nosa and Dongmu through an analysis of 『Nosajip(蘆沙集)』 and 『Nosaseonsaengyeonwonrok(盧沙先生淵源錄)』. Conclusion 1. While it is not definitive to assert that Lee Mupyeong, referenced in the 'SongLeemupyeongBukgwiseo(送李務平北歸序)' of 『Nosajip』, is Dongmu, there exists a strong probability that he is indeed Dongmu. 2. Dongmu Lee Je-ma's name does not appear among the disciples listed in 『Nosaseonsaengyeonwonrok』, and the 'SongLeemupyeongBukgwiseo' is only found in the third edition of 『Nosajip』. 3. It is challenging to attribute Dongmu's development of Sasang Constitutional Medicine solely to his exposure to Nosa's teachings during his youth.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to observe the anti-oxidative effects of electroacupuncture at Taegye($KI_3$) in rats. Methods : The methods are measures of experimental items including change of body weight, relative liver weight, level of alblumin, total bilirubin, LDL-cholesterol, LDH, GOT and GPT in blood serum, level of SOD, GSH, catalase, NO and MDA concentration in liver, histological change of liver. Results: 1. The $KI_3$-EA group lost weight in the beginning, and gained it gradually. 2. The liver ratio of the $KI_3$-EA group increased compared to the holder group, without any statistical significance. 3. The SOD activity, Glutathione concentration, and Catalase concentration increased, and the NO concentration and MDA concentration decreased in the $KI_3$-EA group significantly, compared to the holder group. 4. $KI_3$-EA group had more similar density to the normal group, than the holder group. Conclusion : The electroacupuncture application on Kb has anti-oxidation effect, by improving the body defence against the oxidation stress- induced cytotoxicity, and by supressing the oxidative liver damage.

Objective : This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Plantaginis Semen herbal-acupuncture (PS-HA) at KI10 (Umgok) on nephritis induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in rat. Methods : The authors performed several experimental items including measurements of urinary volume, WBC in blood, BUN, creatine, TNF-$\alpha$, CINC-1 in serum, creatinine, total protein in urine, TNF-$\alpha$, MPO in kidney and histological analysis of renal tissue. Results : PS-HA at KI10 significantly reduced WBC in blood, BUN, TNF-$\alpha$ in serum of LPS-stimulated rats. PS-HA at KI10 significantly increased urinary volume in LPS-stimulated rats. And PS-HA at KI10 significantly reduced MPO in kidney of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusion : Taken together, PS-HA at KI10 has a therapeutic effect on nephritis in LPS-stimulated rat. Therefore, it is suggested that PS-HA at KI10 may be an useful therapeutics for nephritis in clinical field.
