  • Asian Journal of Innovation and Policy (AJIP) would like to introduce an interview section on innovations, innovators, and entrepreneurs if possible in every issue. The interviews introduced will be selected not based on a journalistic view, but rather by its theoretical or practical implications. This issue will introduce an entrepreneur who was a key engineer, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and CEO of Samsung Electronics, in addition to being the Minister of ICT in the Korean government. Currently, he is the CEO of an investment company. His success was tied to the success of semiconductors at Samsung Electronics, which became the world leader, leading some to even call him "the god of semiconductors". This interview resurrects the debates on the mode 2 society and the role of education in entrepreneurship.

  • Environmental issue is one of the key factors to industry area using fossil fuels, because it accelerates the global warming. So it is supposed to reduce greenhouse gases around the developed nations of the world at times go. This issue is especially for the power industry. Under this background, MicroGrid system that consists of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) system, such as natural power system (wind, solar) and fuel-cell, co-generation, also known as CHP (Combined heat and power), has been developed greatly during the last 10 years. This paper adopts optimal model using GAMS to develop methods for conducting an integrated assessment of MicroGrid system.

  • Recently the blockchain technology has been actively studied due to its great potentiality. The smart contract is a key mechanism of the blockchain system. Due to the short history of the smart contract, many issues have not been solved yet. One main issue is vulnerability and another main issue is cost optimization. While the vulnerability of smart contract has been actively studied, the cost optimization has been rarely studied. In this paper, we propose two cost optimization methods for smart contracts running on the blockchain system. Triggering a function in a smart contract program code may require costs and it is repeated continuously. So the minimization of costs required to trigger a function of smart contract while maintaining the performance equally is very important. The proposed two methods minimize the usage of expensive permanent variables deployed on the blockchain system. We apply the proposed two methods to three prevalent blockchain platforms: Ethereum, Klaytn and Tron. Evaluation experiments verify that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the costs of functions in the smart contract written with Solidity.

  • Recent paradigm in technology shifts from object-based technology to environment-based technology. Issue here is interaction among humans and the world around humans. The world we consider includes natural and artificial "space." Interactive technology, which explore holistic interactions based on "Mom (embodiment)," suggests a good starting point for exploring this issue. Soft engineering, "Mom," holistic interactions, tangible space, ubiquitous computing, science of emotion, and interactive media are key concepts in interactive technology. Interactive tangible media "iT_Media" is proposed to explore and synthesize these ideas. Interactive technology initiative (ITI) is an interdisciplinary research group to search for the proper technology and the proper way of implementing technology: "interactive technology" or "soft engineering." Some experimental activities conducted by ITI are presented in this paper.tal activities conducted by ITI are presented in this paper.

  • Main focus on balance shaft module is to reduce the vibration triggered from engine block and compensate it from unbalance mass in balance shaft. Since the performance of balance shaft module is controlled by rotor shape including unbalance mass, a design strategy on rotor is key issue on determine the quality of balance shaft system. Even the design result on balance shaft mostly affect the lay-out of housing and other related components, its issue on balance shaft should be considered in advance throughout the total design procedure. In this paper, optimal design strategy focused on balance shaft is presented to make a design process efficiently with ensuring its high performance. And its method is verified with field design process of balance shaft in commonly adapted vehicle with 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder engine.

  • Localization is one of the key issues of demandable applications, especially smart services. Beside the traditional GPS based localization technique, the localization issue by visible light communications is promising market because of possibility of combining visible light communications with positioning technique for a high accurate, especially indoor localization service. This paper provides the overview and new image sensor scheme for localization issue based on visible light communication. The survey is introduced from core techniques to enhancement issues of localization. We hope these will be the essential references for the impact selection method in implementation and standardization issues.

  • As practical use degree of multicasting increase, security for multicast is recognized as an important issue. Previous research in the area of secure multicast has mainly focused on group key management. The most important thing about the security of multicast is that only authorized members of this group will be able to access the data. The member of access to multicast communication is to use cryptography with a common shared session encryption key. We propose decentralized group key management based on agent for dynamic multicast with large groups and frequent joins or leaves in this paper. Whole group divide to several subgroup using agent technology and each agent manage members of each subgroup. Also, when rekeying updates that using one-way hash function can prevent the key exposure, and reduce the key distribution delay.

  • With the swift growth of wireless technologies, an increasing number of users rely on the mobile services which can exchange information in mobile networks. Security is of key issue when a user tries to access those services in this network environment. Many authentication schemes have been presented with the purpose of authenticating entities and wishing to communicate securely. Recently, Chou et al. and Farash-Attari presented two ID authentication schemes. They both claimed that their scheme could withstand various attacks. However, we find that the two authentication schemes are vulnerable to trace attack while having a problem of clock synchronization. Additionally, we show that Farash-Attari's scheme is still susceptible to key-compromise impersonation attack. Therefore, we present an enhanced scheme to remedy the security weaknesses which are troubled in these schemes. We also demonstrate the completeness of the enhanced scheme through the Burrow-Abadi-Needham (BAN) logic. Security analysis shows that our scheme prevents the drawbacks found in the two authentication schemes while supporting better secure attributes. In addition, our scheme owns low computation overheads compared with other related schemes. As a result, our enhanced scheme seems to be more practical and suitable for resource-constrained mobile devices in mobile networks.

  • The security of wireless sensor networks is a challenging research area where the resources constraints are a bottleneck for any successful security design. Due to their computational feasibility, symmetric key algorithms that require key pre-distribution are more desirable for use in these networks. In the pre-distribution scheme, keys or keying materials are assigned to each node prior deployment to guarantee a secure communication within the entire network. Though several works are introduced on this issue, yet the connectivity and resiliency are imperfectly handled. In this paper, we revisit the grid based key pre-distribution scheme aiming to improve the connectivity, introduce a higher resiliency level, simplify the logic of key establishment and maintain same level of used of resources usage. The core of our modification relies on introducing the novel plat-based polynomial assignment and key establishment mechanism. To demonstrate the advantageous properties of our scheme over the revisited one, details of consumed resources, resulting connectivity, security and comparisons with relevant works are introduced.
