  • This letter presents a pairwise key establishment scheme that is robust against the compromise of nodes in mobile ad hoc networks. Each node establishes local keys with its neighbor nodes that are at most three hops away at network boot-up time. When any two nodes establish a pairwise key, they receive the secret information from the nodes on the route between them, and construct the pairwise key using the secret information. Here, the local keys are utilized by the nodes on the route to send the secret information securely. The simulation results have proven that the proposed scheme provides better security than the key pre-distribution-based scheme.

  • Wireless sensor networks will be broadly deployed in the real world and widely utilized for various applications. A prerequisite for secure communication among the sensor nodes is that the nodes should share a session key to bootstrap their trust relationship. The open problems are how to verify the identity of communicating nodes and how to minimize any information about the keys disclosed to the other side during key agreement. At any rate, any one of the existing schemes cannot perfectly solve these problems due to some drawbacks. Accordingly, we propose a new pre-distribution scheme with the following merits. First, it supports authentication services. Second, each node can only find some indices of key spaces that are shared with the other side, without revealing unshared key information. Lastly, it substantially improves resilience of network against node capture. Performance and security analyses have proven that our scheme is suitable for sensor networks in terms of performance and security aspects.

  • As the use of the sensor device increases in IoT environment, the need for device security is becoming more and more important When a sensor device is deployed in IEEE 802.15.4-based LoWPAN, it has to perform the join operation with PAN Coordinator and the binding operation with another device. In the join and binding process, authentication and key distribution of the device are performed using the pre-distributed network key or certificate. However, the network key used in the conventional method has problems that it's role is limited to the group authentication and individual identification is not applied in certificate issuing. In this paper, we propose a secure join and binding protocol in LoWPAN environment that solves the problems of pre-distributed network key.

  • This study was examined for investigating the quality changes of spring kimchi cabbage under various treatments (pre-drying/pre-cooling, packaging types, and stacking and loading in container and pallete in the storage room) during cold storage. The results showed that control (upward stacking without pre-drying/pre-cooling and HDPE or PVC film cover) was increased significantly in weight loss and trimming loss, compared to other treatments such as DPDH (downard stacking + pre-drying + HDPE), DPDP (downard stacking + pre-drying + PVC), DPCH (downnard stacking + pre-cooling + HDPE), and UPCH (upward stacking + pre-cooling +HDPE) during storage for three months. In Sensory evaluation, judging from marketable properties, the desirable appearance of spring kimchi cabbage with the modified pallet-unit MA packed, PE, and PVC film wrapping could be maintained until 9 weeks after pre-drying/pre-cooling. Meanwhile, the control without any treatments after 6 weeks, the sensory score was declined, significantly. In general, the low temperature (10℃ and 2℃) of pre-treatment with combination of plastic film packaging in spring kimchi cabbage storage could inhibit the physiological activity and reduce the direct exposure of environmental cold air in the storage. Therefore, these two variables were the key points for extending the shelf-life of spring kimchi cabbage.

  • There are various technical problems need to be solved in the construction process of pre-setting an isolation wall into a double lane in the outburst prone mine. This study presents a methodology that pre-setting an isolation wall into a double lane without a coal pillar. This requires the excavation of two small section roadways to dig a wide section roadway, followed by construction of the separation wall. During this process the connecting lane is reserved. In order to ensure the stability of the separation wall, the required bearing capacity of the isolation wall is 4.66 MN/m and the deformation of the isolation wall is approximately 25 cm. To reduce the difficulty of implementing support the roadway is driven by 5 m/d. After the construction of the separation wall, the left side coal wall is brushed 1.5 m to make the width of the gas roadway reach 2.5 m and the roadway support utilizes anchor rod, ladder beam, anchor cable beam and net configuration. During construction, the concrete pump and removable self-propelled hydraulic wall mold are used to pump and pour the concrete of the isolation wall. In the process of mining, the stress distribution of coal body and isolation wall is detected and measured on site. The results demonstrate that the deformation of the surrounding rock of roadway and separation of roof in the roadway is small. The stress of the bolt and anchor cable is within equipment tolerance validating their selection. The roadway is well supported and the intended goal is achieved. The methodology can be used for reference for similar mine gas control.

  • During bolted flange assembly, the contact stiffness of some areas of the joint surface may be low due to the elastic interaction. In order to improve the contact stiffness at the lowest position of bolted flange, the correlation model between the initial bolt pre-tightening force and the contact stiffness of bolted flange is established in this paper. According to the stress distribution model of a single bolt, an assumption of uniform local contact stiffness of bolted flange is made. Moreover, the joint surface is divided into the compressive stress region and the elastic interaction region. Based on the fractal contact theory, the relationship model of contact stiffness and contact force of the joint surface is proposed. Considering the elastic interaction coefficient method, the correlation model of the initial bolt pre-tightening force and the contact stiffness of bolted flange is established. This model can be employed to reverse determine the tightening strategy of the bolt group according to working conditions. As a result, this provides a new idea for the digital design of tightening strategy of bolt group for contact stiffness of bolted flange. The tightening strategy of the bolted flange is optimized by using the correlation model of initial bolt pre-tightening force and the contact stiffness of bolted flange. After optimization, the average contact stiffness of the joint surface increased by 5%, and the minimum contact stiffness increased by 6%.

  • Future mobile communications face enormous challenges as traditional voice services are replaced with increasing mobile multimedia and data services. To address the vast data traffic volume and the requirement of user Quality of Experience (QoE) in the next generation mobile networks, it is imperative to develop efficient content distribution technique, aiming at significantly reducing redundant data transmissions and improving content delivery performance. On the other hand, in recent years cloud computing as a promising new content-centric paradigm is exploited to fulfil the multimedia requirements by provisioning data and computing resources on demand. In this paper, we propose a cooperative caching framework which implements State based Content Distribution (SCD) algorithm for future mobile networks. In our proposed framework, cloud service providers deploy a plurality of cloudlets in the network forming a Distributed Cloud Service Network (DCSN), and pre-allocate content services in local cloudlets to avoid redundant content transmissions. We use content popularity and content state which is determined by content requests, editorial updates and new arrivals to formulate a content distribution optimization model. Data contents are deployed in local cloudlets according to the optimal solution to achieve the lowest average content delivery latency. We use simulation experiments to validate the effectiveness of our proposed framework. Numerical results show that the proposed framework can significantly improve content cache hit rate, reduce content delivery latency and outbound traffic volume in comparison with known existing caching strategies.

  • The duration of star formation activity is a key to understanding the formation process of star clusters. Although a number of astronomers have attempted to derive the underlying age spread in photometric diagrams with a variety of stellar evolutionary models, the resultant findings are subject to uncertainties due to intrinsic variability of pre-main sequence (PMS) stars, observational errors, difficulties in reddening correction, and systematic differences in adopted stellar evolutionary models. The distribution of Li abundance for PMS stars in a cluster could, on the other hand, provide an alternative way to estimate the age spread. In this study, a total of 134 PMS stars in NGC 2264 are observed with the high resolution multi-object spectrogragh Hectochelle attached to the 6.5m Multi Mirror Telescope. We have successfully detected Li ${\lambda}6708$ resonance doublet for 86 low-mass PMS stars. The Li abundance of the stars is derived from their equivalent width using a curves of growth method. After correction for non-LTE effects, the underlying age spread of 3 - 4 Myr is inferred from the Li abundance distribution of low-mass PMS stars. We suggest that NGC 2264 formed on a timescale shorter than 5 Myr given the presence of embedded populations.

  • In this paper we propose a new group key renewal scheme suitable for secure mobile communications in which all members of the group can re-share the new group common key excepted a revoked member using a key distribution center(a trusted center). A renewal group key in the proposed scheme can be shared many times using pre-distributed data by a smart card without a preparation stage. This scheme is also avaliable for a large group network because the transmitted data amount after identifying the revoked member does not depend on a size of group. The secuirty of this scheme is based on the difficulty of the discrete logarithm problem.

  • Wireless sensor networks consist of numerous sensor nodes that have inexpensive and limited resources. Generally, most of the sensors are assigned to the hazardous or uncontrollable environments. If the sensor nodes are randomly assigned to the wide target area, it is very hard to see the accurate locations of sensor nodes. Therefore, this study provides an efficient key distribution scheme to solve these problems. Based on the provided scheme, the study enabled the closely neighboring nodes to exchange information with each other after securing safe links by using the pre-distributed keys. At the same time, the provided scheme could increase the probability of multiparty key detection among nodes by using the location information of sensor node. Lastly, the study intended to show the superiority of the limitation method through a performance test.
