This paper proposes an effective method to remedy the acoustic modeling problem inherent in the usual log-normal Parallel Model Composition intended for achieving robust speech recognition. In particular, the Gaussian kernels under the prescribed log-normal PMC cannot sufficiently express the corrupted speech distributions. The proposed scheme corrects this deficiency by judiciously selecting the 'fairly' corrupted component and by re-estimating it as a mixture of two distributions using data-driven PMC. As a result, some components become merged while equal number of components split. The determination for splitting or merging is achieved by means of measuring the similarity of the corrupted speech model to those of the clean model and the noise model. The experimental results indicate that the suggested algorithm is effective in representing the corrupted speech distributions and attains consistent improvement over various SNR and noise cases.

The Korean peninsula has a number of coastal sites where the rhythmic rising and lowering of water surface due to tides result in strong tidal current. The kinetic energy of these currents can be efficiently exploited by using tidal current turbines. The pilot tidal current power plant is to be constructed at the Uldolmok between Chindo and Haenam. Extensive coastal engineer ing research works have been carried out. This paper describes some observation results of field campaign, design of the supporting structure of a pilot plant of 1,000kW and a future tidal current power plant and so on.

The purpose of this study is the improvement of the prediction model of highway noise. It includes the measurement and analysis of the highway noise for various types of roads and environments. The results of the measurement are compared with the noise levels predicted by highway noise prediction models including domestic and foreign ones and any recommendation to improve the accuracy of the models should be provided.

A new analytical expression for the temperature variation characteristics of hydrogenerated amorphous silicon (a-si:H) thin film transistors, between 223K and 433K, is presented and experimentally virified. The result show that the experimental transfer and output characteristics at several temperatures are easily modeled between $-50^{\circ}C\;and\;90^{\circ}C$. The model is based on three function obtained from the experimental data of $I_D$ versus $V_G$. Theoretical results comfirm the simple form of the model in terms of the device geometry. It was determined that as the temperature increaseed, the saturated drain current increased.

In spite of the development of the service industry, research on measuring customers' service satisfaction is far insufficient. Therefore, ways to measure the service quality accurately need to be established due to the ambiguous types of service business. This research classifies the types of service business into service factory, service shop, mass service, professional service by using Schmenner's Service Process Matrix and conducts research on domestic literature that measured service satisfaction with Servqual and ServPerf. This study intends to suggest guidelines to measure customer satisfaction according to types of service business by researching ways to measure service satisfaction according to the types of service business and analysing the actual application methods based on a table that summarizes previous research on Servqual and Servperf.
