A Comparison Study of the Effect of Adding Ar or Kr Gas into the Conventional Gas Mixtures in a Matrix Type PDP

  • This paper provides a novel scheme to enhance luminous efficiency within Plasma Display Panels (PDPs). The He-Xe or Ne-Xe mixtures are mainly used in conventional PDP cells, where their discharge characteristics exemplify different behavior. Significantly, the excitation efficiency in He-Xe is lower than that of the Ne-Xe mixture. This paper demonstrates that by adding a small quantity of Ar or Kr gas in Ne-Xe mixture increases cell efficiency, while for the He-Xe mixtures their cell efficiency is reduced.

  • KrF excimer laser, which is useful for fabrication of fiber gratings, was irradiated on the PLC-type WDM directional coupler and the transmission wavelength shift was observed as a function of UV exposure time. The effective refractive index change of rectangular silica waveguide was calculated from the wavelength shift measurement and the coupled mode theory. heory.

  • We investigated the output characteristics of Nd:YAG lasers at wavelength of 1444 nm, which were pumped by 450 Xe-flashlamp, 700 torr Xe-flashlamp and 700 torr Kr-flashlamp. With a Xe-flashlamp of 700 torr of gas pressure, the pulse energy of 0.738 J was obtained with repetition rate of 9.16 Hz and pumping pulse width of 400 ms. In case pumping pulse width of 5 ms and repetition rate of 1 Hz, 700 torr Kr-flashlamp showed the highest pulse energy of 1.44 J.

  • 현재 JDBC를 통한 웹 어플리케이션의 제작은 데이터베이스 커넥션에 대한 관리 기능의 부재, 다중 데이터베이스에 대한 효율적인 접근 방법의 부재, 예외 처리(try…catch) 구문의 부담, 질의 결과(ResultSet)에 대한 subset을 처리 방법의 어려움이 존재하는 JDBC의 한계로 인해 개발에의 상당한 까다로움과 고려해야 할 사항이 다수 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 어려움을 해결함과 동시에 개발비용과 개발 시간을 단축하고 사용자 요구에의 응답 시간을 최소화할 수 있는 데이터베이스 connectivity를 위한 컴포넌트를 설계하고 그것을 구현한다. 본 컴포넌트는 다중 데이터베이스를 지원하고, 데이터베이스에 대한 커넥션을 관리하며 JDBC 드라이버의 등록과 로딩을 관장하며, 예외 상황을 내부적으로 처리하고 ResultSet을 효율적으로 다룰 수 있는 기능 및 다중 생성자 권한으로 관련 테이블에의 접근 용이성을 제공한다. 본 컴포넌트를 이용한 웹 어플리케이션을 제작에 필요한 코드의 양은 그렇지 않았을 때에 비해서 약 30%의 절감 효과가 있다. 더불어, 디버깅에 필요한 시간을 최소화 할 수 있어 개발해서 약 30%의 절감 효과가 있다. 더불어, 디버깅에 필요한 시간을 최소화 할 수 있어 개발 기간을 약 2/3 수준으로 단축할 수 있으며 시스템 성능 향상에 도움을 준다. 이것은 실제 프로젝트(한국통신 웹사이트-www.kt.co.kr-, 존슨앤존슨 웹사이트-www.cleanandclear.co.kr-)를 통해 검증되었다.

A Study on the Corrosion Properties of Underwater Wet Arc Welds using the SM 41 (선체용 압연 강판의 습식 수중 아크 용접부의 부식특성에 관한 연구)

  • Underwater wet arc welds were experimentally performed on 11mm thick KR-RA steel plate using six different types of flux coated electrodes of 4.0mm diameter, KSKR, KSKT, USBL, JPUW, UWEA and UWEB. From analysis of bead appearance, detachability of weld slag, spatter occurrence and arc stability, JPUW gives the best result, and UWEB is superior to KSKR and KSKT. By experimental result of hardness distribution on the weld bonds, UWEB weld has the narrowest bond structure which is probable condition to get the best mechanical properties of weld. UWEB and JPUW welds have more even hardness distribution across weld deposit and base metal. Upon polarization test to measure the respondency of corrosion, the electrode of UWEB shows the most excellent degree due to the low open circuit potential difference.

  • For the micro-lithography using a excimer laser beam $(\lambda\leq0.248$\mu\textrm{m})$. a mirror system consisting of four spherical surfaces with reductlon magnification 5X is designed. Initially the aplanat, flat field and the distortion free condition of the system are analytically investigated within Seidel 3rd order aberrations. And the computer-aided optimization technique has been employed for the further improved performance of the system. The final system has N.A. of 0.15 and image field diameter 3.3 mm, and has the diffraction-limited performance for KrF eximer laser beam.

  • Recently, as the amount of fine dust has risen rapidly, our interest is increasing day by day. It is virtually impossible to remove fine dust. However, it is best to predict the concentration of fine dust and minimize exposure to it. In this study, we developed a mathematical model that can predict the concentration of fine dust using various information related to the weather and air quality, which is provided in real time in 'Air Korea (http://www.airkorea.or.kr/)' and 'Weather Data Open Portal (https://data.kma.go.kr/).' In the mathematical model, various domestic seasonal variables and atmospheric state variables are extracted by multiple regression analysis. The parameters that have significant influence on the fine dust concentration are extracted, and using ANN (Artificial Neural Network) and SVM (Support Vector Machine), which are machine learning techniques, we proposed a prediction model. The proposed model can verify its effectiveness by using past dust and weather big data.

  • Prolongation of the QT interval may result in a potentially dangerous arrhythmia. The most commonly proposed mechanism for QT interval prolongation(LQT) by pharmaceuticals is inhibition of the rapid delayed rectifier potassium channel (I$\sub$Kr). The LQT potency of pharmaceuticals can be effectively evaluated by examining the effect on human ether-a go-go-related gene (hERG) channels expressed in CHO cells, known to be equal to I$\sub$kr/. We have transfected JERG into CHO cell lines transiently to express high levels of functional hERG channels. (omitted)
