  • This paper proposes an efficient code acquisition scheme for direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) based real-time locating systems (RTLS). The proposed scheme employs multiple bit integration to significantly decrease false alarms when no packet signal is transmitted and increase the detection probability when the RTLS tags are excited. The performance of the proposed code acquisition scheme is analyzed and numerically evaluated, and compared with those of single-dwell and traditional double-dwell code acquisition schemes. The simulation results show that the proposed multiple-bit integration scheme outperforms single-dwell and double-dwell schemes.

  • HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) is a recently proposed video compression standard that has a two times greater coding efficiency than previous video compression standards. The key factors of high compression performance and increasement of computational complexity are the various types of block partitions and modes of intra prediction in HEVC. This paper presents an intra prediction hardware architecture for HEVC utilizing pipelining and interleaving techniques to increase the efficiency and performance while reducing the requirement for hardware resources.

  • In this paper, we develop an interference neutralization (IN) method based on a set of multi-antenna relays for K-user interference channel. The feasibility condition for IN is fully characterized. We further provide a relaxed IN method for the cases in which there are not enough relays to satisfy the feasibility condition.

  • We propose a linear precoding scheme combining the merits of beamforming and orthogonal space-time block coding based on the imperfect CSI without knowing the CSI reliability. We first investigate the impact of the CSI reliability on precoding performance by assuming various values of the CSI reliability. Then, we propose a method of predicting the CSI reliability based on the received SNR for the design of an efficient precoder. We show the efficiency of the proposed scheme by simulation.

  • In this letter, a QR decomposition based sequential BP detection scheme is proposed for MIMO systems. The proposed scheme performs the sequential updates from the observation node having the smallest degree among all the observation nodes. Our simulation results verify that the proposed scheme achieves an improved error performance with a significantly accelerated detection convergence speed compared to the conventional schemes.

  • Recently barcode detection using a camera is popular, but the recognition performance is low at the effectively low-resolution. The paper propose sub-pixel synchronization technique for better recognition performance. The experiments with ITF-18 demonstrates its performance gain (66% for CIF, 100% for VGA) against the existing recognition algorithms.

  • The noise in a power signal degrades the detection rate of the power quality (PQ) event signals. We present a new wavelet de-noising technique for PQ event detection that employs the correlation-based thresholding instead of the wavelet-scale-based thresholding of existing schemes. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is more robust to Gaussian and impulsive noisy conditions and has further improved detection ratio than existing schemes.

  • 3D FLS is a active sonar that can represent the underwater inside visually in forward direction. We discuss on the decrease of bubbles from breaking waves in 3D FLS frames. In the experiment using the bubbles reduction filter the effect of bubbles was decreased a lot.

  • In this letter, we investigate the performance analysis of massive MIMO systems using MRT and ZF precodings according to the number of DoF. We analyze the ergodic received SINRs with MRT and ZF precodings as closed-forms over the number of DoF normalized by the number of antennas. In simulation results, we verify the analyzed results and observe that MRT precoding is better than ZF precoding in terms of the ergodic received SINR with a small number of DoF.
