즉발감마선 계측시스템의 반사체를 이용한 열중성자 효율증대 연구 (Study on Thermal Neutron Efficiency for Neutron Induced Prompt Gamma-ray Spectrometer Using Various Reflectors)

  • Neutron induced prompt gamma-ray spectroscopy (NIPS) system equipped with a $^{252}Cf$ neutron source and a n-type coaxial HPGe detector was installed for the quantitative analysis of aqueous samples in KAERI, Korea. Since the thermal neutron flux for the $^{252}Cf$ neutron source is relatively low compared to that for the reactor, the use of a thermal neutron reflector in the NIPS system may lead to improved results. The enhancement by using various reflectors was carried out by comparing the Cl peak with or without a cadmium plate between sample and the $^{252}Cf$ source. The use of pyrolitic graphite as a reflector provided a good result.

  • Changes in the rabbit Leydig cell from birth to adulthood were studied in New Zealand white rabbits of 1, 7, 21, 35, 49, 70, 105, 147, 196, and 252 days (n = 8 rabbits per group) of age. The objectives of this study were to understand the fate of the fetal Leydig cells, to determine the changes in serum testosterone levels, and leutenizing hormone-stimulated testosterone production per testis in vitro, and to quantify adult Leydig cells by number and average volume with age. Testes of rabbits were fixed by whole body perfusion using a fixative containing 2.5% glutaraldehyde in cacodylate buffer, processed and embedded in Epon-araldite. Using $1{\mu}m$ sections stained with methylene blue-azure II, qualitative and quantitative (stereological) morphological studies were performed. Testosterone levels in the incubation medium of luteinizing hormone-stimulated (100 ng/ml) testosterone secretion per testis in vitro, and in serum were determined by radioimmunoassay. The average volume of a testis of 1-day-old rabbits was determined as $0.0073cm^3$ and the parameter increased linearly from birth to 252 days ($3.93cm^3$). The volume density of the seminiferous tubules increased with age from 33.76% at day 1 to 88.2% at day 252. The volume density of the interstitium represents 66.24% of the testicular parenchyma at day 1. This proportion progressively diminished during development to reach a value of 11.8% at day 252. The volume density of Leydig cells increased almost linearly from birth (0.001%) to 252 days (2.62%). Leydig cell mass per testis increases from 0.0012 mg to 0.25 mg between days 1 and 35, from 2.66 mg to 44.3 mg between days 49 and 105 and from 65.42 mg and 102.9 mg between days 147 and 252. The absolute numbers of adult Leydig cells per testis increased linearly from birth to 252 days. The average volume of adult Leydig cell on days 1, 7, 21 and 35 was not significantly different; a gradual and continued increase was observed thereafter, reaching a 3-fold increase at 196 and 252 days. Serum testosterone concentrations were not significantly different at day 1 compared days 7, 21, 35. Significant increases were observed at days 49 and 70. Values at days 70 and 105 and days 147, 196, and 252 were not significantly different. LH-stimulated testosterone production per testis in vitro was significantly different at day 1 compared days 7, 21, 35. Significant increases were observed at days 49 and 70. Hormonal values at days 105, 147, 196, and 252 were not significantly different. These data suggested Leydig cell developmental phase can be classified: a neonatal phase (1-7 days), a prepubertal phase (14-49 days) and an adult phase (70-252 days). Immature and mature adult Leydig cells, initially detected at days 7 and 49, respectively, and mature adult Leydig cells were abundant Leydig cell type according to the number and absolute volume per testis form day 49 onwards.

252Cf 중성자장에서 열형광선량계(TLD)를 이용한 중성자 방사선량 측정 (Neutron Dose Measurements Using TLDs in a 252Cf Neutron Field)

  • TLD를 이용하여 중성자 선량을 측정할 경우, TLD는 중성자 에너지에 대한 반응도 차이가 크기 때문에 현장 중성자장의 스펙트럼 특성에 맞는 에너지 반응도 보정이 반드시 필요하다. 본 실험에는 소형으로 가공된 TLD 소자를 사용하여 $^{252}Cf$ 중성자장에 설치된 내부구조가 복잡하고 좁은 Long-Counter (중성자 검출기) 내외부에서의 중성자 주위선량당량(ambient dose equivalent)을 측정하였다. 측정결과는 입자수송해석코드(MCNPX)를 이용한 계산결과와 비교하였다. 기존의 TLD 교정 선원인 $D_2O$ 감속 $^{252}Cf$만으로 교정하여 판독한 결과값은 전산모사 계산값과 많은 차이를 보였다. 그러나 bare 및 $D_2O$ 감속 $^{252}Cf$ 선원을 사용하여 생산한 두 교정인자를 혼용한 판독값은 계산값과 비슷하였다. 결과적으로, TLD 소자는 사용 현장과 비슷한 특성을 가지는 중성자장에서 교정되어야지만 올바른 선량평가가 가능함을 확인하였다.

  • The lichen species Polychidium muscicola was found in South Korea for the first time and this is the first record of the genus Polychidium from the Korean peninsula. This species is characterized by a dichotomously branched minute thallus with clustered cells of Nostoc as the photobiont. A detailed description and illustrations of this species are provided.

  • M2M의 발전에 따라 사람에게 편리하고 간편한 정보를 전달해주고 있다. 하지만 사회복지 업무에서는 현실과 다르게 아직 발전을 하지 못하고 있다. 현재 우리나라의 사회복지사는 과중한 업무와 강도 높은 노동을 감당하고 있는 상황에서 M2M 기술을 융합하여 사회복지사의 업무 프로세스 시간 단축 및 업무 스트레스 감소를 위한 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

Effect of Staurosporine on the Long-term Secretion of Catecholamines Induced by Various Secretagogues in Cultured Bovine Adrenal Medullary Chromaffin Cells

  • Long-term treatment of cultured bovine adrenal medullary chromaffin (BAMC) cells with arachidonic acid $(100\;{\mu}M),$ angiotesnin II (100 nM), prostaglandin $E_2\;(PGE_2;\;10\;{\mu}M),$ veratridine $(2\;{\mu}M)$ or KCl (55 mM) for 24 hrs increased both norepinephrine and epinephrine levels in the supernatant. Pretreatment with staurosporine (10 nM), a protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor, completely blocked increases of norepinephrine and epinephrine secretion induced by arachidonic acid, angiotensin II, $PGE_2,$ veratridine or KCl. In addition, K252a, another PKC inhibitor whose structure is similar to that of staurosporine, effectively attenuated both norepinephrine and epinephrine secretion induced by arachidonic acid. However, K252a did not affect the catecholamine secretion induced by angiotensin II, $PGE_2,$ veratridine or KCl. Our results suggest that staurosporine may inhibit long-term catecholamine secretion induced by various secretagogues in a mechanism other than inhibiting PKC signaling. Furthermore, long-term secretion of catecholamines induced by arachidonic acid may be dependent on PKC pathway.

$MnSO_4$용액조 장치 개발 연구 (The Development Study of A Manganese Sulphate Bath System)

  • 중성자 측정의 국가표준을 확립하기 위하여 국제원자력거주(IAEA)로 부터 기술지원을 받아서 $MnSO_4$용액조장치를 개발하였다. 본 용액조장치는 구형의 s.s. 316L $MnSO_4$용액조(두께 3.5mm, 내경 125cm), 용액의 순환계 및 5$^{56}Mn\;{\gamma}$-선 검출계동으로 구성되어 있다 .용액조 본체로부터 퍼내어진 용액은 2개의 $3.8cm{\phi}{\times}3.8cm$ NaI(T1) 검출기가 설치된 Marinelli 비이커형의 모니터 용기로 진입되어 순환된다. 본 장치의 성능검사는 $^{241}Am-Be$$^{252}Cf$ 중성자 선원 을 사용하여 수행하였다. $^{56}Mn$ 방사능의 붕괴 곡선을 분석한 결과, $^{252}Cf$의 중성자 방출율은 1985년 11월 15일 현재 $3.71{\times}10^7\;n/s\;per\;50{mu}g$ 으로 얻어졌다.
