Determination of k0 factors of short-lived nuclides 46mSc and 110Ag for the k0-NAA

  • The k0-standardization neutron activation analysis method has successfully determined the mass fraction of elements of interest using around a hundred analytical radionuclides. However, several very short-lived nuclides with half-life less than 100 s have not been used at Dalat research reactor. One of the reasons is that the values of k0-factors of these nuclides are significantly different. Therefore, this work focused on re-determination and evaluation of k0-factors of very short-lived nuclides 110Ag (T1/2 = 24 s) and 46mSc (T1/2 = 18.75 s). The results of determination of the short-lived nuclides revealed that k0-factor of 110Ag is significantly difference between the existing data and the obtained results in this work. The evaluation of the k0-factors was done by using the obtained results for application of k0-NAA for NIST-1566b and NIST-2711A standard reference materials.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the shear bond strength and marginal microleakage of composite to enamel and dentin according to different treatment methods when the applied bonding agent was contaminated by artificial saliva. For the shear bond strength test, the buccal and occlusal surfaces of one hundred twenty molar teeth were ground to expose enamel(n=60) and dentin surfaces(n=60). The specimens were randomly assigned into control and 5 experimental groups with 10 samples in each group. In control group, a bonding system(Scotchbond$^{TM}$ Multi-Purpose plus) and a composite resin(Z-100$^{TM}$) was bonded on the specimens according to manufacture's directions. Experimental groups were subdivided into 5 groups. After polymerization of an adhesive, they were contaminated with at artificial saliva on enamel and dentin surfaces: Experimental group 1 ; artificial saliva was dried with compressed air. Experimental group 2 ; artificial saliva was rinsed with air-water spray and dried. Experimental group 3 ; artificial saliva was rinsed, dried and applied an adhesive. Experimental group 4 ; artificial saliva was rinsed, dried, and then etched using phosphoric acid followed by an adhesive. Experimental group 5, artificial saliva was rinsed, dried, and then etched with phosphoric acid followed by consecutive application of both a primer and an adhesive. Composite resin(Z-100$^{TM}$) was bonded on saliva-treated enamel and dentin surfaces. The shear bond strengths were measured by universal testing machine(AGS-1000 4D, Shimaduzu Co. Japan) with a crosshead speed of 5mm/minute under 50kg load cell. Failure modes of fracture sites were examined under stereomicroscope. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test. For the marginal microleakage test, Class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of sixty molars. The specimens were divided into control and experimental groups. Cavities in experimental group were contaminated with artificial saliva and those surfaces in each experimental groups received the same treatments as for the shear test. Cavities were filled with Z-100. Specimens were immersed in 0.5% basic fuchsin dye for 24 hours and embedded in transparent acrylic resin and sectioned buccolingually with diamond wheel saw. Four sections were obtained from the one specimen. Marginal microleakages of enamel and dentin were scored under streomicroscope and averaged from four sections. The data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test and Fisher's LSD. The results of this study were as follows. 1. The shear bond strength to enamel showed lower value in experimental group 1(13.20${\pm}$2.94MPa) and experimental group 2(13.20${\pm}$2.94MPa) than in control(20.03${\pm}$4.47MPa), experimental group 4(20.96${\pm}$4.25MPa) and experimental group 5(21.25${\pm}$4.48MPa) (p<0.05). 2. The shear bond strength to dentin showed lower value in experimental group 1(9.35${\pm}$4.11MPa) and experimental group 2(9.83${\pm}$4.11MPa) than in control group(17.86${\pm}$4.03MPa), experimental group 4(15.04${\pm}$3.22MPa) and experimental group 5(14.33${\pm}$3.00MPa) (p<0.05). 3. Both on enamel and dentin surfaces, experimental group 1 and 2 showed many adhesive failures, but control and experimental group 3, 4 and 5 showed mixed and cohesive failures. 4. Enamel marginal microleakage was the highest in experimental group 1 and there was a significant difference in comparison with other groups (p<0.05). 5. Dentin marginal microleakages of experimental group 1 and 2 were higher than those of other groups (p<0.05). This result suggests that treatment methods, re-etching with 35% phosphoric acid followed by re-application of adhesive or repeating all adhesive procedures, will produce good effect on both shear bond strength and microleakage of composite to enamel and dentin if the polymerized bonding agent was contaminated by saliva.

칼라꼬마감자와 일반꼬마감자의 영양성분 및 이화학적 특성 (Comparison of Nutritional Components and Physicochemical Properties of Small Colored Potatoes and Small Regular Potatoes)

  • 본 연구에서는 칼라꼬마감자의 영양성분 등의 품질특성을 분석하였고, 항산화활성 효과를 평가하였다. 칼라꼬마감자 100 g(wet weight basis)중에는 수분 79.7%, 탄수화물 17.9%, 조단백질 1.0%, 조지방 0.1%, 조회분 1.3%가 함유되어 있으며, 탄수화물 중 총 식이섬유소 함량은 11.45%이었다. 총 식이섬유의 함량은 4.0%로 나타났다. 또한 칼라꼬마감자 100 g의 총 열량은 337.3 kcal로 분석되었다. 칼라꼬마감자의 구성아미노산 중 asparagine (1,514.3 mg/100g)과 glutamic acid(1,240.3 mg/100g)함량이 가장 높은 함량을 차지하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 무기질 함량은 칼륨이 약 1,454.7 mg으로 가장 함량이 높았으며, 인(245.3 mg), 마그네슘(82.8 mg), 칼슘(62.1 mg)순이었다. 미량영양소인 철분(28.1 mg), 망간(28.1 mg), 구리(3.4 mg) 및 아연(2.5 mg)이 함유되어 있었다. 칼라꼬마감자 추출물의 페놀 함량은 chlorogenic acid가 $3,730.60{\pm}0.62mg/100g$로서 가장 많은 양이 함유 되어 있었고 catechin, caffeic acid, gallic acid의 함량이 높은 것으로 나타났으나, p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid는 확인되지 않았다. 칼라꼬마감자의 우수한 영양성분 및 항산화 활성을 나타내는 성분 및 그 활성에 대한 연구가 추가로 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 칼라꼬마감자의 우수한 생리활성을 나타내는 성분에 대해서는 더욱 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료되며, 이러한 결과로 보아 칼라꼬마감자의 영양성분 및 항산화 활성 천연소재로 이용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 따라서 칼라영양성분 및 항산화감자 추출물 제조시 기능성 향상을 위한 추출공정의 개선 및 최적화 등의 추후 연구가 필요한 것으로 사료된다.

다중 클래스 데이터셋의 메타특징이 판별 알고리즘의 성능에 미치는 영향 연구 (The Effect of Meta-Features of Multiclass Datasets on the Performance of Classification Algorithms)

  • 기업의 경쟁력 확보를 위해 판별 알고리즘을 활용한 의사결정 역량제고가 필요하다. 하지만 대부분 특정 문제영역에는 적합한 판별 알고리즘이 어떤 것인지에 대한 지식은 많지 않아 대부분 시행착오 형식으로 최적 알고리즘을 탐색한다. 즉, 데이터셋의 특성에 따라 어떠한 분류알고리즘을 채택하는 것이 적합한지를 판단하는 것은 전문성과 노력이 소요되는 과업이었다. 이는 메타특징(Meta-Feature)으로 불리는 데이터셋의 특성과 판별 알고리즘 성능과의 연관성에 대한 연구가 아직 충분히 이루어지지 않았기 때문이며, 더구나 다중 클래스(Multi-Class)의 특성을 반영하는 메타특징에 대한 연구 또한 거의 이루어진 바 없다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 다중 클래스 데이터셋의 메타특징이 판별 알고리즘의 성능에 유의한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 실증 분석을 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 다중 클래스 데이터셋의 메타특징을 데이터셋의 구조와 데이터셋의 복잡도라는 두 요인으로 분류하고, 그 안에서 총 7가지 대표 메타특징을 선택하였다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 기존 연구에서 사용하던 IR(Imbalanced Ratio) 대신 시장집중도 측정 지표인 허핀달-허쉬만 지수(Herfindahl-Hirschman Index, HHI)를 메타특징에 포함하였으며, 역ReLU 실루엣 점수(Reverse ReLU Silhouette Score)도 새롭게 제안하였다. UCI Machine Learning Repository에서 제공하는 복수의 벤치마크 데이터셋으로 다양한 변환 데이터셋을 생성한 후에 대표적인 여러 판별 알고리즘에 적용하여 성능 비교 및 가설 검증을 수행하였다. 그 결과 대부분의 메타특징과 판별 성능 사이의 유의한 관련성이 확인되었으며, 일부 예외적인 부분에 대한 고찰을 하였다. 본 연구의 실험 결과는 향후 메타특징에 따른 분류알고리즘 추천 시스템에 활용할 것이다.

아토피 피부염 동물모델에서 피부에 도포한 한약 복합추출물의 염증 억제 효과 (Topical Application of Herbal-mixed Extract on back skin suppresses inflammation in Ovalbumin-induced Atopic Dermatitis)

  • Objective : This study is conducted to evaluate the efficiency of ethanol extracts of 4 mixed herbs(CP001 or CP002) on mouse model of atopic dermatitis induced by ovalbumin. Methods : Female BALB/c mice were internally sensitized with ovalbumin($20{\mu}g$) plus aluminum hydroxide hydrate(4mg) once per week. After 3 weeks, they were dermally challenged with patches containing ovalbumin ($100{\mu}g$) plus aluminum hydroxide hydrate(20mg) every other day for 3 weeks. After induction of atopic dermatitis, mice back skin were gently rubbed with CP001 or CP002(200mg/$m{\ell}$, $100{\mu}{\ell}$) for two weeks(every 2 days). Results : In CP001 or CP002 treated group, there was a remarkable reduction in infiltration of eosinophils on the skin areas and diminution of mast cells and total T cells in blood samples as compared with control group. Cutaneous expressions of interleukin-13, 17 were also decreased by CP001 or CP002. Moreover, blood immunoglobulin E level was decreased by drug administration while there was no decrease in OVA sensitization group. Conclusion : In summary, our result shows that herbal extracts(CP001 and CP002) could be potential candidates for the treatment of chronic atopic dermatitis.

진단용 다엽콜리메이터 개발을 위한 몬테칼로 시뮬레이션 연구 (Monte Carlo Simulation for Development of Diagnostic Multileaf Collimator)

  • 진단방사선 검사 시 환자선량을 감소하기 위한 목적으로 진단용 다엽콜리메이터를 제작하고자 하며, 제작 전 사전연구로서 진단용 다엽콜리메이터에 사용되는 차폐물질 및 차폐효율에 대한 몬테칼로 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 몬테칼로 시뮬레이션 코드(MCNPX, LANL, USA)를 이용하여 진단방사선 기기(ReX-650R, Listem, Korea)을 모델링하기 위하여, SRS-78 프로그램을 이용하여 관전압(80, 100, 120 kVp)에 따라 에너지 스펙트럼을 획득하였다. 진단용 다엽콜리메이터의 제작을 위하여 사용된 재료는 SKD-11(탄소 : 1.6%, 규소 : 0.4%, 망간 : 0.6%, 크롬 : 5%, 몰리브덴 : 1%, 바나듐 : 0.3%, 밀도: $7.87g/cm^3$)이며 이를 진단방사선 기기에 진단용 다엽콜리메이터($10{\times}0.5{\times}0.5cm^3$, 좌우 20개씩) 형태로 전산 모사하였다. 진단용 다엽콜리메이터의 차폐효율을 확인하기 위하여 MCNPX 코드의 tally6을 이용하여 에너지별로 차폐효율을 계산하였다. 에너지에 따른 차폐효율은 80 kVp 일 때, 98.3% 차폐되었으며, 100 kVp는 95.7%, 마지막으로 120 kVp는 93.6%가 차폐되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과를 기반으로 MLC형태 및, 누설선량에 대한 연구를 진행하여 진단방사선 기기에서 사용 가능한 진단용 다엽콜리메이터 개발에 필요한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것이라 사료된다.

열처리(熱處理)에 의한 홍삼(紅蔘)엑기스의 성분변화(成分變化) (Quality Changes in Red Ginseng Extract during High Temperature Storage)

  • 열처리(熱處理)가 홍삼(紅蔘)엑기스의 성분변화(成分變化)에 미치는 영향(影響)을 조사(調査)하기 위하여 저온(低溫)에서 추출(抽出), 조제(調劑)된 홍삼(紅蔘)엑기스를 각온도별(各溫度別)로 $40^{\circ}Bx$까지 농축(濃縮)하고 다시 온도별(溫度別), 시간별(時間別)로 숙성(熟成)시켜 숙성과정중(熟成過程中)에 일어나는 pH, 당(糖), saponin 및 색상(色相) 등을 조사(調査)하여 다음과 같은 유의성(有意性)있는 결과(結果)를 얻었다. (1) 홍삼(紅蔘)엑기스의 pH는 농축(濃縮) 및 숙성(熟成)중에 차차 감소(減少)하였으며 $100^{\circ}C$에서 96시간(96時間)까지 숙성(熟成)하면 pH가 4.15까지 감소(減少)하였다. (2) HPLC에 의한 방법(方法)으로 rhamnose, glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose 둥의 당(糖)을 동정(同定) 및 정량(定量)하였으며 $100^{\circ}C$에서의 당(糖)의 변화(變化)는 sucrose가 30시간(30時間)에서 95%이상 감소(減少)하였고 glucose는 50시간(50時間)까지는 증가(增加)하다가 감소(減少)하였고 fructose는 10시간(10時間)까지 약간 증가(增加)되다가 감소(減少)하였으며 rhamnose는 큰 변화(變化)가 없었다. (3) 수삼(水蔘)이나 백삼(白蔘)에는 없는 rhamnose가 홍삼(紅蔘)엑기스중에서는 동정(同定)되었으며 이는 인삼중(人蔘中)의 일부 배당체(配糖體)의 분해(分解)에 의한 것으로 생각되며 온도(溫度)의 변화(變化)에 따라 큰 변화(變化)가 없는 것으로 보아 다른 당(糖)에 비(比)해 amino-carbonyl 반응(反應)에 적게 관여(關與)하는 것으로 생각된다. (4) 열처리중(熱處理中)의 홍삼(紅蔘)엑기스중의 saponin은 ginsenoside-Re와 $-Rg_1$이 감소(減少)하는 반면(反面) $ginsenoside-Rg_2$와 -Rh group은 증가(增加)되어 saponin group간(間)의 상호변환(相互變換)으로 추정(推定)할 수 있다. (5) 열처리(熱處理)에 의한 홍삼(紅蔘)엑기스의 갈변색소(褐變色素)는 벤젠층에 비해 부탄올층(層)이 약(約) 10배(10倍), 수층(水層)이 약(約) 100배(100倍)로 나타나 홍삼(紅蔘)엑기스의 갈변색소형성(褐變色素形成)은 비효소적(非酵素的) 갈변반응(褐變反應)인 amino-carbonyl 반응(反應)이 주도적(主導的) 역할(役割)을 하고 있음을 알 수 있다. (6) 총당(總糖)과 갈변반응속도(褐變反應速度)는 유의성(有意性)이 있었으며 $100^{\circ}C$의 경우 20시간(20時間)에 가장 색도(色度)가 높아 갈변반응속도(褐變反應速度)가 0.2로 나타났다.

Reinforced fibrous recycled aggregate concrete element subjected to uniaxial tensile loading

  • In this study, effect of recycled aggregates and polypropylene fibers on the response of conventionally reinforced concrete element subjected to tensile loading in terms of tension stiffening and strain development was experimentally investigated. For this purpose, concrete prisms of 100 × 100 mm cross section and 500 mm length having one central deformed steel re-bar were cast using fibrous and non-fibrous Recycled Aggregate Concrete (RAC) with varying percentages of recycled aggregates (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) and tested under uniaxial tensile load. For all fibrous RAC mixes, polypropylene fibers were used at constant dosage of 3.15 kg/㎥. Effect of recycled aggregates and fibers on the compressive strength of concrete was also explored in this study. Through studying tensile load versus global axial deformation of composite and strain development in concrete and steel, it was found that replacement of natural aggregates with recycled aggregates in concrete negatively affected the cracking load, tension stiffening and strain development, and this negative effect was observed to be increased with increasing contents of recycled aggregates in concrete. The results of this study showed that it was possible to minimize the negative effect of recycled aggregates in concrete by the addition of polypropylene fibers. Reinforced concrete element constructed using concrete containing 50% recycled aggregates and polypropylene fibers exhibited cracking behavior, tension stiffening and strain development response almost similar to that of concrete element constructed using natural aggregate concrete without fiber.

Analysis of Esophageal Cancer Time Trends in China, 1989-2008

  • National cancer incidence data were utilized to analyze trends in esophageal cancer incidence in China in order to provide basic information for making cancer control strategy. We retrieved and re-sorted valid esophageal cancer incidence data from National Central Cancer Registry Database over 20 years period from 1989 to 2008. Crude incidence and age-standardized incidence rates were calculated for analysis, with annual percent change estimated by Joinpoint software for long term trend analysis. The crude incidence rate of esophageal cancer was found to have remained relatively stable in both urban and rural areas over the 20 year period. Age standardized incidence rate (ASR) in cancer registration areas decreased from 39.5/100,000 in 1989 to 23.0/100,000 in 2008 in all areas (AAPC=-3.3%, 95% CI:-2.8~-3.7). The trend was no change in urban areas and 2.1% average annual decrease observed in rural aras. Before the year of 2000, esophageal cancer incidence rates significant decreased with 2.8% annually and then the rates kept stable. Over 20 years from 1989 to 2008, esophageal cancer age standardized incidence rate in cancer registration areas decreased with time. However, esophageal cancer is still a big issue and efforts for control should be continuously enhanced. Cancer registration is playing an important role in cancer control with the number of registries increasing and data quality improving in China.

Analysis of Physical Properties for Various Compositions of Reusable LMG and LCV Micelle Gel

  • In this study, we evaluated the reusable leuco malachite green (LMG) micelle gel properties dependent on various components of chemical concentration and compared with leuco crystal violet (LCV). The gels were delivered to 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 Gy at 6 MV photon beam from linear accelerator and analyzed using spectrophotometry. We confirmed that the reusable LMG and LVC absorbance wavelength peak were made up at 630 nm and 600 nm respectively. The transparency of reusable LMG decreased with higher amount of trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) and lower reusable LMG dyes. 1 mM reusable LMG was the lowest transparency. The sensitivity was increased depending on lower trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) concentrations and the amount of suitable surfactant (Triton X-100), which was found to be 7 mM. However, we were not able to investigate sensitivity effects factor from reusable LMG dyes. The gel dosimeter containing 16 mM TCAA, 7 mM Triton X-100 gel dosimeter showed the highest sensitivity at $0.0021{\pm}0.0001cm^{-1}.Gy^{-1}$. The sensitivity of LCV was found to be higher than reusable LMG at $0.0037{\pm}0.0005cm^{-1}.Gy^{-1}$. The reusable LMG and LCV dose responses were shown to be $R^2=0.997$, $R^2=0.999$ respectively, as stable measurement results. Future research is necessary to improve dose sensitivity, dose rate dependency and gel fading with extensive chemical formulations.
