The Design and Fabrication of the Triple-Band Planar Monopole Antenna for Coupled U Patch Line and Rectangular Patch (U자형 패치 라인과 사각 패치를 결합한 삼중 대역 평면형 모노폴 안테나 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, the planar monopole antenna for multi-band service is proposed. The proposed antenna, which is a rectangular patch antenna with a U-shaped slit based on a monopole antenna for wide bandwidth characteristic, is designed and analyzed. The antenna size has been miniaturized by using the U-shaped slit. The frequency characteristics are modified and optimized by varying specific parameters. To obtain desired frequency bands, the U-shaped slit and patch lines have been applied. Whole antenna dimensions including the ground plane are $35{\times}50{\times}1\;mm^3$, and the antenna part size is $35{\times}27\;mm^2$. It is fabricated on the FR-4 substrate(${\epsilon}_r=4.4$) using a microstrip line of $50{\Omega}$ for impedance matching. For the measured results, the impedance bandwidth below a VSWR of 2 is 790~916 MHz, 1.74~2.14 GHz, and 2.36~3.13 GHz. The fabricated antenna is satisfied with the aimed impedance bandwidth in GSM/DCS/US-PCS/UMTS/Bluetooth/S-DMB applications.

Design of the IPI-IFA using the Inverted PI Feeder (역 파이 급전 방식을 적용한 IPI-IFA)

  • Design of IPI(Inverted PI) feeding internal antenna for the gain improvement of mobile phone was proposed. IPI feeding structure affects on both low radiation resistance of antenna and increase current for the internal antenna such as IFA(Inverted F Antenna). By these facts, antenna fed by IPI can get the gain improvement with increasing radiation efficiency. For the verification, we applied IPI feeding structure to conventional quad band IFA. Measurement shows that IPI-IFA has 0.3~2.0[dB] higher gain than conventional IFA on GSM/DCS/USPCS/WCDMA band.

  • 본 논문에서는 GSM/DCS/PCS대역에서 사용할 수 있는 변형된 IFA형태의 내장형 안테나를 설계하고 이를 제작하였다. 본 논문에서는 실제 상용화된 휴대단말기의 내장형 안테나를 3D Tool을 이용하여 전류 흐름의 상쇄작용을 고려하여 3중 대역을 형성시켰으며, Stub의 길이에 따라 변화하는 반사소실 특성을 확인하였다. 설계된 안테나를 제작 측정한 결과 기존의 안테나 보다 약 10.9%, 1.57dB 특성이 개선되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 7중 대역 (GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100) 을 지원하는 LPF 내장형 LTCC 프런트 엔드 모듈 (FEM) 을 설계, 제작 및 측정하였다. 제작된 FEM은 효과적인 고조파 제거를 위해 수동소자를 LTCC 기판에 내장하여 저역 통과 필터(LPF)를 구현하였다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 FEM은 송수신 신호를 선택하기 위한 flip-chip 형태의 CMOS RF SP9T switch, Rx 신호의 수신을 위한 dual type의 SAW filter, 매칭 및 ESD 보호 회로를 위한 0603 크기의 칩소자가 부품 외부에 실장되어 구현된다. 전체 크기는 $4.5{\times}3.2{\times}1.2\;mm^3$의 초소형으로 내부 GND 2개 층을 포함하여 총 16층으로 구성된다. 측정결과는 송신단과 수신단의 삽입손실이 각각 1.7 dB, 3.6 dB 이하의 우수한 특성을 보였다.

  • A wideband monopole antenna using a parasitic branch is proposed for allowing operations at multiple frequency bands specified in GSM($824{\sim}894MHz$), PCS($1750{\sim}1870MHz$), WiBro($2.3{\sim}2.4GHz$), WLAN/ISM ($2.4{\sim}2.48GHz$) and SDMB($2.605{\sim}2.655GHz$). We have used two branch monopoles and the one parasitic branch. Prototype of the multiband antenna have been successfully implemented and good radiation characteristics the operating frequency bands have been obtained. The effect of a parasitic branch was also studied.

  • 최근 무선통신 분야의 급속한 성장은 양적인 성장에 이어 보다, 고품질의 서비스를 요구하게 되었다. 무선통신 환경에서는 전파강도의 부족으로 전파가 도달할 수 없는 음영지역이 발생하게 되는데 이러한 음영지역까지 통신이 가능하도록 하기위해 기지국으로부터 받은 신호를 재증폭하는 중계기를 사용한다. 이때 중계기의 수신단과 송신단 간의 격리도가 충분히 확보되지 않으면 발진이 일어나 서비스 품질을 떨어뜨리게 된다. 본 논문에서는 중계기에서 신호를 효율적으로 전송하기 위해 수신안테나와 송신안테나 사이의 격리도를 개선할 수 있는 방법으로 반사판의 사용과 홈(groove) 기법, 안테나의 편극을 이용하여 1900MHz PCS 대역에서 50dB 이상의 격리도를 확보할 수 있음을 보인다.

  • 본 논문에서는 휴대용 무선통신기기에 장착해서 사용가능한 이중대역(RFID(908.5-914), PCS) 소형 내장형 RFID 안테나를 설계하였다. 안테나 디자인은 PIFA(Planar Inverted-F Antenna)이며 기존 안테나 아래쪽에 접지와 연결된 패턴을 추가하여 결합성분을 유도하여 소형화 하였으며 표면 전류분포를 분산시켜 SAR를 개선하는 방법을 제시 하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과에 따라 안테나가 실제 제작 되고 측정되었다.

A Low-Profile Broadband Array Antenna for Home Repeater Applications

  • This paper reports on the proposed design of a low profile broadband array antenna for home repeater applications. The proposed antenna consists of $1{\times}4$ patch elements and two ground planes, one of which is slitted. By using the gap feeding method, the impedance matching of the antenna is improved by a multi-resonance phenomenon. The proposed antenna provides a wide -10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth simultaneously covering the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM-1800), Personal Communications Service (PCS), and the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) bands (1.67-2.32 GHz). In order to reduce the mutual coupling between adjacent patch elements, slits are embedded in the ground plane. An isolation level of -20 dB is realized over the entire operating frequency band.

  • The salient features of UWB(Ultra WideBand) networks such as high-rate communications, low interference with other radio systems, and low power consumption bring many benefits to users, thus enabling several new applications such as wireless universal serial bus (WUSB) for connecting personal computers (PCs) to their peripherals and the consumer-electronics (CE) in people's living rooms. Because the size of multimedia data frame, WiMedia device must transmit the fragment of MSDU. However, when the fragment of MSDU is lost, WiMedia device maintains active mode for the time to complete the transmission MSDU, and there is a problem that unnecessary power consumption occurs. Therefore we propose new power management scheme to reduce unnecessary power consumption of WiMedia devices in the case that the fragment is lost.

The Design of Predistortion Linearizer using the Low Frequency Intermodulation Terms of Harmonic Generator (Harmonic Generator의 저주파 혼변조 신호 성분을 이용한 전치왜곡 선형화기 설계)

  • In this paper, a new type predistorter using a low frequency intermodulation signals terms of harmonic generator is proposed. A vector modulator, in which fundamental signal is modulated with low frequency intermodulation signals derived from harmonic generator, generates predistorted third and fifth IM components. Using predistorted signals, intermodulation distortion signals of power amplifier suppressed. The suggested predistorter has been manufactured to operate in Korean PCS base-station transmitting band (1840~1870MHz). The test results show that the third IMD signal level is reduced more than 20dB and the fifth IMD signal is reduced about 10dB for CW two-tone signals. The predistorter improves the Adjacent Channel Power Ratio (ACPR) more than 10dB for CDMA (IS-95) signals.
