  • Changes in serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (s-GOT) activities, serum alkaline phosphatase activities and serum total protein amounts were investigated on seven Korean native cows having normal estrus cycle of 18~24 days after normal parturition, dividing estrus cycle into estrus (0~1 days), metestrus (2~6 days), diestrus (7~16 days), proestrus (17~20 days). The results were as follows. 1. Serum GOT activities at estrus ranged from 73.5 to 121.5 Ku with a mean of $89.14{\pm}17.16$ Ku, at metestrus 57 to 89 Ku with a mean of $67.01{\pm}10.81$ Ku, at diestrus 54 to 89.5 Ku with a mean of $67.05{\pm}10.05$ Ku and at proestrus 53 to 112 Ku with a mean of $73.00{\pm}20.05$ Ku. The activities were significantly increased at the estrus comparing with other stages (P<0.01). 2. • Uniaxial ratcheting behavior of Z2CND18.12N austenitic stainless steel used nuclear power plant piping material was studied. The results indicated that ratcheting strain increased with increasing of stress amplitude under the same mean stress and different stress amplitude, ratcheting strain increased with increasing of mean stress under the same stress amplitude and different mean stress. Based on least square method, a suitable method to arrest ratcheting by loading the materials was proposed, namely determined method of zero ratcheting strain rate. Zero ratcheting strain rate occur under specified mean stress and stress amplitudes. Moreover, three dimensional ratcheting boundary surface graph was established with stress amplitude, mean stress and ratcheting strain rate. This represents a graphical surface zone to study the ratcheting strain rates for various mean stress and stress amplitude combinations. The graph showed the ratcheting behavior under various combinations of mean and amplitude stresses. The graph was also expressed with the help of experimental results of certain sets of mean and stress amplitude conditions. Further, experimentation cost and time can be saved.

  • This paper represents the vector fields and three dimensional mean velocities in the X-Y plane of cone type swirl gas burner measured by using X-probe from the hot-wire anemometer system. This experiment is carried out at flowrate 350 and $450{\ell}/min$ respectively in the test section of subsonic wind tunnel. The vector plot shows that the maximum axial mean velocity component is focused in the narrow slits distributed radially on the edge of a cone type swirl burner, for that reason, there is some entrainment of ambient air in the outer region of the burner and the rotational flow can be shown in the inner region of the burner because mean velocity W is distributed about twice as large as mean velocity V due to inclined flow velocity ejecting from the swirl vanes of a cone type baffle plate of burner. Moreover, the mean velocities are largely distributed near the outer region of burner within $X/R{\fallingdotseq}1.5$, hence, the turbulent characteristics are anticipated to be distributed largely in the center of this region due to the large inclination of mean velocity and swirl effect.

  • reliability from components reliability. In this case, it assumes that components failure is mutually independent, but it may not true in real systems. In this study, the mean cost per unit time is computed as the ratio of mean life to the mean cost. The mean life is obtained by the reliability function under power rule model. The mean cost is obtained by the mathematical model based on the inspection interval. A heuristic method is proposed to determine the optimal number of redundant units and the optimal inspection interval to minimize the mean cost per unit time. The assumptions of this study are as following : First, in the load-sharing k-out-of-n:G system, total loads are applied to the system and shared by the operating components. Secondly, the number of failed components affects the failure rate of surviving components as a function of the total load applied. Finally, the relation between the load and the failure rate of surviving components is set by the power rule model. For the practical application of the above methods, numerical examples are presented.

  • A pulsed tracer gas technique is applied to measure the distributions of local mean age and local mean residual-life-time of air in a half-scale experimental chamber, The airflow patterns in the chamber are visualized by a Helium bubble generator for three different exhaust locations. A supply slot is located at the top of a right wall, and an exhaust slot is at either bottom-left (Case 1), bottom-right (Case 2), or top-left (Case 3) location. Results show that the distributions of local mean age and local mean residual-life-time are different from each other, but both of them are closely related to the airflow pattern in the space. Included are discussions on explaining the variations of overall room ventilation effectiveness depending upon airflow rates for three different supply-exhaust configurations.

  • This paper investigates mean square exponential dissipativity of singularly perturbed stochastic delay differential equations. The L-operator delay differential inequality and stochastic analysis technique are used to establish sufficient conditions ensuring the mean square exponential dissipativity of singularly perturbed stochastic delay differential equations for sufficiently small ${\varepsilon}$ > 0. An example is presented to illustrate the efficiency of the obtained results.

  • In this paper, using analytic method and the properties of the Legendre's symbol, we prove an exact calculating formula on the $2m$-th power mean value of the generalized quadratic Gauss sums for $m{\geq}2$. This solves a conjecture of He and Zhang [On the 2k-th power mean value of the generalized quadratic Gauss sums, Bull. Korean Math. Soc. 48 (2011), no. 1, 9-15].

  • The performance of up-to-date mapping functions and various mean temperature equations were analyzed to derive optimal mapping function and mean temperature equation when GNSS precipitable water vapor (PWV) was investigated in the Korean Peninsula. Bernese GNSS Software 5.2, which can perform high precision GNSS data processing, was used for accurate analysis, and zenith total delay (ZTD) required to calculate PWV was estimated via the Precise Point Positioning (PPP) method. GNSS, radiosonde, and meteorological data from 2009 to 2014 were acquired from Sokcho Observatory and used. ZTDs estimated by applying the global mapping function (GMF) and Vienna mapping function 1 (VMF1) were compared with each other in order to evaluate the performance of the mapping functions. To assess the performance of mean temperature equations, GNSS PWV was calculated by using six mean temperature equations and a difference with radiosonde PWV was investigated. Conclusively, accuracy of data processing was improved more when using VMF1 than using GMF. A mean temperature equation proposed by Wu (2003) had the smallest difference with that in the radiosonde in the analysis including all seasons. In summer, a mean temperature equation proposed by Song & Grejner-Brzezinska (2009) had the closest results with that of radiosonde. In winter, a mean temperature equation proposed by Song (2009) showed the closest results with that of radiosonde.
