Objective: To report a case of a patient with a psychosomatic disorder who complained of hyperventilation and was treated with oriental medical treatments and emotional freedom techniques (EFTs). Methods: The patient was diagnosed as having a psychosomatic disorder through an interview and several psychological tests, such as the house-tree-person (HTP) and the person in the rain (PITR) tests. We treated the patient with oriental medical treatments that included herbal medications, western medications, moxibustion, cupping, and EFT. Results: After the treatments, the clinical symptoms of the patient were improved. Conclusions: Oriental medical treatments and EFT may be effective treatments for psychosomatic disorders.

These studies were performed to investigate the acting sites of ginseng total saponins (GTS) on the U-50, 488H-induced antinociception and the inhibitory effect of the development of tolerance to U-50, 488H-induced antinociception by GTS were studied. The U-50, 488H-induced antinociception was ntagonized in mice pretreated with GTS intraperitoneally, intracerebrally. These antagonisms were reversed by the pretratment iwth a serotonin precursor, 5-hydroxytrypophan (5-HTP), but not with a noradrenaline precursor, L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA). However, the intraplantar sites. On the other hand, GTS inhibited the development of tolerance to U-50, 488H-induced antinociception was reversed by pretreatment with 5-HTP, but not with L-DOPA. Therefore, the antagonism of U-50, 488H-induced antinociception and the inhibition of the development of tolerance to U-50, 488H-induced antinociception and the inhibition of the development of tolerance to U-50, 488H-induced antinociception by GTS are dependent on serotonegic mechanisms.

A numerical analysis of solid-liquid phase change was performed on a heat transfer module which consisted of circulating water path (BRINE), heat transfer plate (HTP) and phase change material (PCM) layers, such as high temperature PCM (HPCM, $78{\sim}79^{\circ}C$) and low temperature PCM (LPCM, $28{\sim}29^{\circ}C$). There were five arrangements, consisting of BRINE, HTP, LPCM and HPCM layers in the heat transfer module. The time and heat transfer rate for melting/solidification was compared to their arrangements, against each other. As results, the numerical time without convection was longer than the experimental one for melting/solidification. Moreover, the melting/solidification with the BRINE I-LPCM-BRINE II-HPCM arrangement was faster(10 hours) than the others; HPCM-BRINE-LPCM, BRINE I-HPCM-LPCM-BRINE II one.

We have previously reported that the antagonism of U-50,488H-induced antinociception in mice pretreated with ginseng total saponins (GTS) Ivas abolished by pretreatment with a serotonin precursor, 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), but not by a noradrenaline precursor, L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA) in the tail flick test. In the present experiments, the effect of the same GTS on the development of tolerance to U-50,488H-induced antinociception was determined. GTS inhibited the development of tolerance to U-50,488H-induced antinociception. The inhibitory effect of GTS on the development of tolerance to U-50,488H-induced antinociception was reversed by 5-HTP, but not by L-DOPA. These findings suggest that the inhibitory effect of GTS on the development of tolerance to U-50,488H-induced antinociception is dependent on serotonergic mechanisms. The effects of various drugs on muricide and hyperirritability induced by bilateral lesions of the nucleus accumbens septi (NAB) were investigated in comparison with those on aggression induced by midbrain raphe nuclei-lesioned rats (raphe) and olfactory bulbectomized rats (OB). Muricide in NAB, raphe and OB rats were markedly suppressed by atropine. Muricide in NAB and raphe rats were significantly suppressed by L-DOPA, L-5-HTP, but muricide in OB rats was scarcely suppressed by L-DOPA and L-5-HTP. Hyperirritability in NAB, raphe and OB rats were significantly reduced by L-DOPA and haloperidol but not suppressed by atropine. On the other hand, muricide in NAB rats was markedly suppressed by antidepressants, particularily, nomifensine, clomipramine and desipramine. Muricide in raphe rats was markedly inhibited by nomifensine and clomipramine but only slightly inhibited by desipramine. Muricide in OB rats was markedly suppressed by imipramine. Hyperirritability in NAB, raphe and OB rats were slightly suppressed by antidepressants. These results suggested that the pharmacological characteristics of aggression induced by NAB rats resembles that induced by raphe rats, but differs from that induced by OB rats. It is also suggested that employment of different types of experimentally induced muricide in rats can be useful for the evaluation of antidepressants.

This study analyzed the the effect of group art therapy on sociality of children in institutional care focus on anger and empathy. The study divided children into two groups, experimental group was treated group art therapy for twice a week(60 minutes, total 25) and control group was treated none. The study results showed that group art therapy had positive impact on improving sociality, anger conrol and emphatic ability of children in institutional care. Also, there had been positive change in their work in the aspect of form and content by HTP, KSD, DAS test. This study found that group art therapy helped improving institutionalized children's socility with anger control and empathic ability, so it is suggested that group art therapy studies for institutionalized children are of help to improve their sociality.

Objectives : This article aims to find how effective the art therapy is on the improvement of the self expression and the interpersonal relations with others, as medium for verbal communication of schizophrenic patients. Methods : The subject of this study was one schizophrenic patient who had been treated with drugs for five years in W university hospital, as well as counseled by an art therapy oo counsel office in J city. The art therapy had been performed the total 25 sessions, fifty minute per session, one session per week, from November 28 in 2008 to April 27 in 2009. The test was by HTP. Results : The results of this study are as follows: First, in the pretest of HTP, the subject showed a little lethargy, painting very simple house-shaped figures and too simple rectangular figures corresponding to those painted by 4 or 5-year-old children. In the post-test, however, the structures of houses were described concretely and three-dimensionally, and the descriptions of people were changed into concrete figure, by which we could see the improvement effect on the self expression and the interpersonal relations. Second, in the earlier stage, there was little verbal self expression, and little self respect, staring into space and showing passive attitude without positive assertion and expression. In the later stage, however, there were positive assertion and expression, even showing sense of humor. Lastly, in the earlier stage, there were few interpersonal relations. In the later stage, however, eye contacts and the interpersonal relations were increased during conversation and in the art work process, respectively. Conclusions : These results suggest that the art therapy can be effective on improvement of the self expression and the interpersonal relations with others, as medium for verbal communication of schizophrenic patients.

This study examined the Influence of ginseng total saponins (GTS) on the analgestic action and tolerance development of pentazocine in mice. Pentazocine prolonged the latency to response in the tail flick rather than in the tail pinch test. The analgesic effect of pentaEocine was antagonized by naloxone and completely eliminated by pretreatment u·ith f-chlorophenylalanine (PCPA). GTS provented the pentasocine-incuced analgesia ann inhibited the development of tolerance to pentazocine. The antagonistic effect of GTS on the pentazocine-induced analgesia was abolished by 5-HTP, but not by L-DOPA. These results suggest that GTS inhibits the analgesic action of pentazocine by the interaction with serotonergic neuron.

Ginseng saponins(GS), protopanaxadiol saponins(PD) and protopanaxatriol saponins (PT) were tested for the inhibition of the development of morphine tolerance and dependence antagonism of morphine analgesia and the loss of morphine tolerance and dependence in mice The results were as follows: 1. Inhibition of the development of morphine tolerance and dependence. 2. Antagonism of morphine analgesia. 3. Increase in the loss of morphine tolerance and dependence. Antagonism of morphine by ginseng saponins and its reversal by L-DOPA and 5-HTP suggest some possibility that catecholamines and serotonin levels might be associated with the results.

Jisuguimundo is an inimitable magic hexagon devised by Choi Seok-Jeong, who was the author of GuSuRyak as well as a prime minister in Joseon dynasty. Jisuguimundo, recorded in GuSuRyak, is also known as Hexagonal Tortoise Problem (HTP) because its nine hexagons resemble a tortoise shell. We call the sum of numbers in a hexagon in Jisuguimundo a magic sum, and show that the magic sum of hexagonal tortoise problem of order 2 varies 40 through 62 exactly and that of hexagonal tortoise problem of order 3 varies 77 through 109 exactly. We also find all of the possible solutions for hexagonal tortoise problem of oder 2.
