A traffic flow measurement system at night by using image processing

  • In this paper, we propose a simple algorithm to calculate the number of passing cars at night by using an image processing sensor for digital black and white images with 256 tone levels. To recognize cars, we capture their head lamps. The reflection of the head lamps is one of the most troublesome factors in recognizing cars. The main problem in this paper is how to recognize cars under the influence of the reflection of the head lamps especially in rainy days. In general, the image of a head lamp is nearly circular and the reflection is long and narrow. On the difference of these forms, we can exclude the reflection in our proposed algorithms For real-time operation and simple calculation, we recognize the existence of cars using fifteen lines with 256 tone levels. In the experimental application on a road, the recognition rate of a real-time operation is more than 90%. Moreover, we will also explain briefly how to recognize passing cars for 24 hours.

유전 알고리즘을 이용한 지하철 객차 내 승객의 최적대피경로 탐색 (Research finding optimized evacuation route of people in subway passenger cars using genetic algorithm)

  • There have been subway conflagrations such as Daegu subway conflagration at 2003, Washington D.C conflagration last month and so on. Compared to that, proper evacuation route is far from satisfactory. So this paper suggests optimized route when subway's passengers evacuate from passenger cars. For conducting our experiment, We made temporarily a model of subway station which is made up with 8 passengers cars and 3 exits. Using genetic algorithm, we found the optimized route that first and second passenger cars are optimized to first exit and third, fourth, fifth and sixth passengers cars are optimized to second exit and finally seventh, eighth passengers cars are optimized to third exit. It is expected that real subway station is applied to our experiment by developing passenger distribution algorithm.

Comparison of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and Childhood Autism Rating Scale in the Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Preliminary Study

  • Objectives: We examined the agreement between the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Methods: The ADOS and CARS scores of 78 children were retrospectively collected from a chart review. A correlation analysis was performed to examine the concurrent validity between the two measures. Using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, we determined the optimal cut-off score of the CARS for identifying autism spectrum disorder. Results: The CARS score was significantly correlated with the ADOS score (r=0.808, p<0.001). Taking ADOS as the ideal standard, the optimal cut-off scores of CARS for identifying autism and autism spectrum were 30 and 24.5, respectively. Conclusion: We determined the optimal cut-off scores of CARS for screening and diagnosing autism spectrum disorder.

구조방정식을 활용한 승용차 보유의향 분석 (Analysis of Willingness to Own Passenger Car Using Structural Equation Model)

  • 본 연구는 승용차이용 및 보유의식 조사를 통하여 승용차 보유의향에 관한 분석을 다루고 있다. 증가하는 차량이용으로 인하여 발생하는 사회적인 문제는 심각한 상태이다. 차량등록대수의 78.9%는 승용차이고 그 중 자가용승용차는 75.3%로 승용차의 대부분을 차지하고 있으므로 차량 이용에 따라 발생하는 사회적인 문제의 주요 원인은 자가용승용차로 볼 수 있다. 이에 승용차 이용목적과 추가적인 보유목적에 대해 알아 볼 필요가 있다. 또한 승용차 이용의식과 현재 보유하고 있는 승용차대수를 분석하여 향후 추가적인 승용차 보유의향에 대해 연구 할 필요가 있다. 따라서 설문조사결과를 바탕으로 연구를 진행하였고 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 현재 대부분의 가구에서는 출퇴근 및 통학용으로 승용차를 보유하고 있고 향후 추가적으로 보유하고자 하는 목적으로는 출퇴근 및 통학과 여가용, 자녀들의 학교 및 학원 통학용으로 나타났다. 구조방정식모형을 활용하여 승용차 이용 및 보유대수에 따른 승용차 보유의향에 대해 분석한 결과 승용차 이용은 운전인식과 이용인식에 정(+)으로, 주차, 교통 혼잡, 환경 등과 같은 사회적인 문제에 부(-)의 영향을 받고 승용차 보유대수는 이용인식에 정(+)으로, 비용적인 측면에서 부(-)의 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 승용차 추가보유의향의 경우 승용차 이용의사에 정(+)으로, 현재 승용차 보유대수에 부(-)의 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 향후 교통수요관리를 위한 기초적인 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.

The Optical Design of Miniaturized Microscope Objective for CARS Imaging Catheter with Fiber Bundle

  • In coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy reported until now, conventional microscope objectives are used, so that they are limited for introduction into a living body. Gradient-index (GRIN) rod lenses might be a solution for miniaturized microscope objectives for in-vivo CARS microscopy. However, due to the inherent large amount of chromatic aberration, GRIN rod lenses cannot be utilized for this purpose. CARS imaging catheter, composed of miniaturized microscope objective and fiber bundle, can be introduced into a living body for minimally invasive diagnosis. In order to design the catheter, we have to first investigate design requirements. And then, the optical design is processed with design strategies and intensive computing power to achieve the design requirements. We report the miniaturized objective lens system with diffraction-limited performance and completely corrected chromatic aberrations for an in-vivo CARS imaging catheter.

순간 온도 측정을 위한 CARS 분광기의 정밀 정확도 분석 (Precision and accuracy of CARS spectrometer for instantaneous temperature measurement)

  • 기체의 순간 온도를 측정할 수 있는 펄스 레이저를 사용한 이동형 CARS 분광기를 제작하였다. 이 분광기의 측정 프로그램은 측정한 스펙트럼으로 부터 온도를 얻기 위하여 8가지의 빠른 온도 계산법과 최소제곱법을 포함하고 있다. 빠른 온도 계산법 중 두 가지는 최소제곱법 보다 계산 시간은 훨씬 덜 걸리면서 온도의 분산이 작은 측정 결과를 준다. CARS 온도의 정밀 정확도는 복사온도계를 기준으로 흑연관 흑체로에서 측정하였다. 1000K부터 2400K의 온도 영역에서 정확도는 .+-.2% 이내이고 정밀도는 가장 정밀한 결과를 주는 빠른 온도 계산법을 적용할 때 1600K에서 .+-.35K이다. 순간 온도 측정의 적용 예를 보이기 위하여 이 분광기를 정해진 조건에 있는 난류 연소의 측정에 적용하였다.

환경영향평가시 도로소음 평가범위 설정에 대한 연구 (A Study for Assessment Scope Set-up of Road Noise in EIA)

  • This paper suggests the set-up plan of the assessment scope in road noise considering road characteristics with the prediction model of road noise. The RLS90 prediction model with some assumptions is used to establish the assessment scope of road noise. The main contents of the applied assumptions are smooth drive of cars, flat region, location of all noise sources in one lane, drive in design speed, and set-up of assessment scope according to traffic volume and car speed. The information of traffic volume to predict road noise is obtained by the distribution of small cars and full-sized cars in road. In this study, the total traffic volume in road is computed by adding the number of small cars to the conversion number of small cars, which means the number of small cars making the same noise as one full-sized car. The prediction result of road noise with the influence factor of traffic volume, car speed, distance between road and receiver is presented. The resultant assessment scope of road noise is obtained by combining road noise prediction data with the set-up standard of road noise assessment scope.

Real Time Monitoring of Cars during European Rally Championships in Poland in 2005

  • The paper presents the preparations work and experiences gained from realtime GPS car monitoring during the European Rally Championships organized on 10-12 June 2005 in Poland. The developed system is based on GPS and GSM/GPRS technology. Distribution and teletransmission of data are possible using different GSM operators in Poland, which makes the system fully independent. The system's server collects data from rally cars, processing and send data through VPN connections to the SQL server located in main control room. Data can be collected in real time via Internet or GPRS. Some information on GSM/GPRS range during rally championships are also presented in the paper. The study covered many trials and tests of different software and various configurations of the GPRS modems before finally the system started to work. Information coming from 10 Rally Cars were collected to the SQL Server continuously in one second interval. In real time mode these all data were displayed simultaneously in the rally main control room and in the rally press conference room. Paper describes also adopted emergency procedures and remote reconfiguration of GPS/GPRS boxes inside rally cars made during championships. Some problems and method of practical solutions are presented to avoid active jamming dangerous for a driver and his pilot, having system of communication intercoms jammed by teletransmission of GPRS 900/1800 MHz. In cooperation with rally teams special GPS/GPRS safety boxes were designed and made. Monitoring of all 7 rally stages with GPS receivers and method of calibrations of the maps were presented. GSM signal coverage was also checked in all stages. All data transmitted from rally cars were recorded in the computer. Some of our GPS cars had accidents and dispite them information were continuously sent to server. There is possibility to show in post mission mode the position of chosen cars in our rally application. Some information of best rally cars are presented also in the paper.

연소진단용 이동형 광대역 코헤런트 반 스톡스 라만 분광기에 관한 연구 (Study on Mobile Broadband Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectrometer For Combustion Diagnostics)

  • We construct a mobile broadband coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy system to measure the temperature of combustion gases. To improve the accuracy of CARS temperatures due to Stokes lasers, a modeless dye laser is constructed. A monochromator to disperse CARS spectra is also constructed in the spectrometer for easy portability. The accuracy of CARS temperature, measured in graphite tube furnace in reference to a radiation pyrometer, is better than 2 % from 1000 K to 2400 K. The CARS temperature error due to the variation of the spectral distribution of the modeless laser is measured to be less than 1.5 % during five hours operation. As a demonstration of combustion diagnosis, we applied the spectrometer to measure the temperature distribution of the propane air premixed flame.

연결형 자동차로 구성된 클라우드 서버를 위한 동적 작업 크기 결정 기법 (A Decision Scheme of Dynamic Task Size for Cloud Server composed of Connected Cars)

  • 최근 자동차는 관련 기술과 통신 환경의 발달로 차량과 도로 주변 인프라 구조와의 통신, 차량 간 통신이 가능해지고 있다. 자율주행차가 개발되면서 많은 센서와 고성능 연산장치가 탑재되고 있으며 이러한 자동차의 가용자원을 활용하여 클라우드 서비스를 제공하는 연구도 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 연결형 자동차로 클라우드 서버를 구성하여 각 차량에 적합한 작업을 분배하는 과정에서 차량의 가용자원뿐만 아니라 기지국과의 통신 환경을 고려하여 동적으로 작업의 크기를 결정하는 기법을 제안하였다. 제안 기법의 모델을 기반으로 시뮬레이션한 결과 가용자원만을 고려하는 것보다는 통신 환경을 함께 고려해서 작업을 할당해야 마감 시간 내에 할당된 작업을 완료할 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다.
