  • We investigate the type of self-selection arising in college transfer in Korea, and then estimate the returns to additional college education gained through transfers from junior colleges to four-year colleges or universities. In this paper, we show that academic transfer is consistent with a positive selection hypothesis, in a sense that students with characteristics correlated positively to productivity are more likely to transfer to four-year colleges from junior colleges. These empirical results also meet an underlying dispersion condition. In addition, we find that the transferred would make a statistically significant return to additional college education.

  • This study surveyed and analyzed the labor market result when comparing the case that junior college students found a job after transferring to 4-year university with the case that they found the job directly after graduating the junior college. The difference of the occupational structure following the transfer was surveyed in detail and this study examined what effect the transfer had on the occupation status. The graduate occupation movement survey(GOMS) was used and the samples of 544 persons were extracted to use through propensity score matching(PSM) to raise the choice convenience of the sample. The occupation status index to use as a dependent variable was developed to apply. The study result is as follows. First, as a result of confirming the occupational structure of the transfer, the transfer students were distributed in more various industrial fields evenly compared to the non-transfer students in the horizontal industrial structure, and non-transfer students were intensively distributed in the certain field. In the vertical occupation status structure, transfer students were distributed in the high occupation status more than non-transfer students who were broadly distributed in the low occupation status. Second, it was revealed the college transfer was highly effective for the occupation status, which appeared statistically significantly. The explanation variable that appeared significantly outside of that included the parents' academic background, major affiliation, employment pattern, major job coincidence, and job coincidence. The higher students' academic background was, the higher the occupation status was and in case of the engineering natural science affiliation, the occupation status was higher than the humanities social science. In case of full-time workers, their occupation status was higher than one of part time workers and it was revealed the occupation status was high when the their major coincided with the job and their educational/technical level coincided with their job.

  • Experiments have been conducted on a planar, free surface jet of water to investigate the effects of aspect ratios(AR=6.67, 15, 26.67), average nozzle velocity($V_0=3.3m/s{\sim}78m/s$) and nozzle-to-plate spacings($Z/W=6{\sim}40$) on the characteristics of heat transfer, when 3 rectangular waterjets impinging on a flat plate which has the uniform heat flux. the scondary peaks which produced by circular jets also produced by rectangular water jets. The position of the scondary peaks depends upon the aspect ratio of nozzle. The heat transfer coefficient was subjected to the influence of aspect ratio. The heat transfer correlations and best position of nozzles which produced maximum heat transfer coefficient at stagnation point are provided.

  • Heat transfer characteristics of a rotating heat pipe have been studied numerically and experimentally with using water-ethanol mixture as working fluid. And triangular fins are attached inside the rotating heat pipe. Experimental results generally agreed with numerical results. According to increasing rpm and vapour pressure of the rotating heat pipe, the heat transfer rate increased. And also according to decreasing the concentration of ethanol, the heat transfer rate increased. In the case of using the pure ethanol as working fluid, the heat transfer rate was about 80% of using distilled water. The heat transfer rate and operating temperature difference of the rotating heat pipe was much influenced by ethanol concentration, and the optimum ethanol concentration was 0.2.

  • An experimental investigation is carried out to see the local heat transfer characteristics of a rotating heated flat plate surface with constant heat flux when a normal water jet is impinging on this surface. The effects of jet Reynolds number, rotating Reynolds number are investigated while the distance between the nozzle and the flat plate is set fixed. As a result, correlations to relate the local Nusselt number to the local rotational Reynolds number, jet Prandtl number and the dimensionless radial position are presented.

  • The fluidization characteristics of the furan foundry sand fluidized bed and the heat transfer characteristics on a single spiral coil tube in the bed have been investigated. In the paper, the heat transfer coefficients for a single spiral coil tube are measured in the furan foundry sand bed as a function of the ratio of heated coil tube pitch to diameter(p/Do) and the ratio of heated coil tube pitch to particle size(p/dp). The experimental results are as follows. 1) Mean heat transfer coefficients increases according to the increasing ratio of heated coil tube pitch to diameter(p/Do). 2) The Increasing rates of mean Nusselt numbers are more greater in the case of p/Do=1.58 than p/Do=4.75. 3) Mean Nusselt number can be expressed by the following equation, $Nu_{mean}=C\;Re^m\;Pr_g^{0.4}(p/dp)^n$.

  • To obtain a high performance in a direct vector controlled induction machine, it is essential to correct estimation of rotor flux. The accuracy of flux observers for induction machines inherently depends on parameter sensitivity. This paper presents an analysis method for conventional flux observers using parameter Sensitivity. The Parameter sensitivity is defined as the ratio of the percentage change in the system transfer function to the percentage change of the parameter variation. We define the ratio between real flux and estimated flux as the transfer function, and analyzed a parameter sensitivity of this transfer function.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine educational performance of key competencies in the situation by introducing NCS of junior college. And also, this study aimed at investigating the effects of individual characteristics on the relationship between characteristics of key competencies based on NCS and educational transfer. Data was collected from samples of 389 freshman and sophomore students who took the classes about communication skills and problem solving skills of key competencies. All of the students major in secretarial science. Based on the collected data, this study analyzed structural equating model, using AMOS Graphics. The result of analysis showed that there was a significant positive effect of educational training characteristics on educational transfer in some research models planned in this study. The findings in analysis of mediating effect showed that there was a full mediation effect of determinacy of career attitude maturity, and there was a partial mediation effect of readiness of career attitude maturity. Based on the result, this study proposed theoretical and practical ways considering individual characteristics for establishment and development of NCS.

  • In this study, performance improvement of the inverse modeling as the on-line control method for the estimation, control experiment is performed. As the modeling errors is occurred in duct system arbitrarily, a case using the filtered-x LMS algorithm only as the control method, a case using tile inverse modeling method only and a case using the inverse modeling with the adaptive line enhancer are compared. The estimation errors between real secondary path transfer functions and the estimated and the control performances of primary noises with these estimated transfer functions are compared.

  • By using the heat pipe with a dished evaporator and a screwed groove condenser, the heat transfer characteristics have been investigated by measuring temperature distributions of wall and vapor for various thermal inputs at rotative and stationary cases. The results show that the heat transfer characteristics of this pipe have better than those of simple heat pipe. The heat transfer of the heat pipe is increased by increasing thermal input and revolutions per minute.
