This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of the various stage of growth on dry matter yield and chmical composition of forage oat(Avena sativa. L.). Seeds were planted on March 13 1993 on the Livestock Experimental Farm Keiymung junior college at keongsan Keongsangbukdo. Oat plant were harvested at various stages of maturity while the oat was in the premature stages. 1. Whole plant dry matter increased with advancing maturity. It was 11.8, 12.3, 14.9, 25.6 and 28.8% at before flag leaf emerged, flag leaf emerged, heads emerged, milk and dough stage., respectively. Dry matter increased very little during from before flag leaf emerged to heads emerged, after which it increased rapidly until the plant was dough stage. 2. Leaf weight ratio decreased with advancing maturity from before flag leaf emerged to dough, varied fmm 58 to 1 1%. Grain(with lemma, palea) increased with advancing maturity from heads emerged to dough, varied from 7 to 43%. 3. The content of cmde protein decreased during the stages of growth until milk(P<.OS), and then changed very little with advancing maturity. 4. The content of NDF and ADF increased rapidly during the early growth period until heading(P<.05) and then decreased due to the increase in carbohydrate storage in the grain. 5. The dry matter yields per ha increased with advancing maturity, it was 2,420, 4,380, 7,190, 13,130 and 14,530kg at before flag leaf emerged, flag leaf emerged, heads emerged, milk and early dough, respectively. Significant difference has been obtained among stages of growth(P< .05). 6. According to the results obtained from this study, it is suggested that milk stage of maturity is higher in dry matter yields would be recomendable for spring oat for silage.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the difference of noise level according to noise measuring methods in the noisy working environments. Sound pressure level(SPL), equivalence sound level(Leq) and personal noise exposure dose(Dose) in the fifty-nine unit workplaces of the twenty-eight industries were measured and relating factors which were affected noise level were investigated. The results were as follows ; 1. The noise levels were $88.70{\pm}5.68dB(A)$ by SPL, $89.07{\pm}5.41dB(A)$ by Leq and $89.07{\pm}5.69$ by Dose. The differences of noise levels by three measuring methods were statistically significant(P<0.001) by repeated measure ANOV A. 2. Comparing with noise levels by general classes of noise exposure, noise levels of continuous noise were $89.14{\pm}5.19dB(A)$ by SPL, $89.45{\pm}4.65dB(A)$ by Leq and $90.04{\pm}5.09$ by Dose. Noise levels of intermittent noise were $87.90{\pm}6.52dB(A)$ by SPL, $88.40{\pm}6.63dB(A)$ by Leq and $90.10{\pm}6.80$ by Dose. The differences noise level of noise measuring methods by general classese of noise exposure were statistically not significant by repeated measure ANOV A. 3. Interaction between general classese of noise exposure and noise measuring methods for noise level was not statistically significant by repeated measure ANOVA. And the noise level by noise measuring methods were statistically significant by repeated measure ANOV A(P<.001) 4. Comparing with noise levels by unit workplace size, noise levels of large unit workplace were $90.73{\pm}5.87dB(A)$ by SPL, $91.32{\pm}5.50dB(A)$ by Leq and $91.82{\pm}6.06$ by Dose and noise levels of middle unit workplace were $88.31{\pm}5.26dB(A)$ by SPL, $88.41{\pm}4.83dB(A)$ by Leq and $89.69{\pm}5.05$ by Dose. And noise levels of small unit workplace were $94.89{\pm}4.10dB(A)$ by SPL, $85.35{\pm}4.11dB(A)$ by Leq and $86.87{\pm}4.98$ by Dose. The noise level differences of noise measuring methods by unit workplace size were statistically significant by repeated measure ANOV A(P<.05). 5. The noise level by noise measuring methods were statistically significant by repeated measure ANOV A(P<.001). But Interaction between workplace size and noise level measuring methods for noise level was not statistically significant by repeated measure ANOVA. According to the above results, there was a difference of the noise level among the three measuring methods. Therefore we must use the personal noise exposure dose using by noise dose meter, possible, to prvent occupational hearing loss in noisy working environment.

Accumulation of Pseudomonas sp., P. fluorescens and Erwinia carotovora in 60 min treatment was greater in extracts from soil, exudate from ginseng root and solutions than distilled water. In bacterial movement toward rubber tube soil from chamber, accumulation of P. fluorescens in response to soil supplemented with soil extracts, exudate and solutions was generally greater in soil extracts compared to control and other solutions, but Pseudomonas sp. and E. carotovora were not much response to supplemented extracts, exudate and solutions. Accumulation of the bacteria in capillaries containing various exudates from fungal propagules with not attracted to the exudates. For an accumulation of bacteria in rubber tubes containing soil inoculated with fungal propagules, the Pseudomonas sp. was not attracted in soil inoculated by the organisms as attractant but P. fluorescens and E. carotovora to fungi were attracted to F. solani, F. oxysporum and mixed organism Alternaria panax did not affect on bacterial movement except E. carotovora. The organic matter conten in Kangwha and Kimpo soil were low in diseased and healthy soil. The K content was especially high in Kimpo healthy soil. Bacterial population in Goesan and Kangwha were more abundant than other soil. The number actinomycetes was populated abundant in healthy soil of Goesan and diseased soil of Poonggi.
Among the eight strains, Pleurotus sajor-caju JAFM 1017 was selected as most potent producer of cellulolytic enzymes. The avicelase and CMCase activity reached maximum levels after 10 days, and ${\beta}-glucosidase$ activity reached a maximum level after 19 days. Among the various carbon sources, cellulose powder was most effective for the production of avicelase and ${\beta}-glucosidase$, and Na-CMC (sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) was good for the production of CMCase. The optimum concentration of cellulose powder was 1.0% (w/v), and glucose (1.0%) completely depressed the production of enzymes. Nitrates were effective for the production of enzymes, but nitrites did not support growth. The production of cellulolytic enzymes increased as the concentration of urea increased. The appropriate concentration of urea was 0.054% (w/v).
Numbers of total bacteria and fungal propagules were highly populated in the soil of diseased plot in Gumsan, whereas numbers of actinomycetes were high in the soil of healthy plot in Goesan. In microbial fluctuation of different soil conditions four weeks after amended with various plant materials, bacteria were decreased in the soil amended with various plant materials as compared with non-amended soil except for Goesan. On the contrary, numbers of fungal propagules were increased amended with onion and potato stalk in two soils at different conditions, and also the propagules were enhanced in the soil amended with various plant materials in general. Higher numbers of bacteria and fungal propagules were observed in the diseased replanted plot in general, but germination rate of fungal spores relatively reversed against the microbial population. Alternaria panax was not affected much in their germination by natural soil condition, while Fusarium spp. were affected in their germination by natural soil. Natural soil showed a fungistatic effect against four fungal spores.
Quantitative analysis of the fatty acids contained in Duck meat was carried out by the Gas Chromatography with Flame ionization Detector, The general components and chemical constants have been performed with A.O.A.C. methods. The results art summarized as follows : 1. General composition of Duck meat come out to be 64.87% moisture, 19.06% protein, 17.05% fat, and 1.02% ash. 2. It was investigated that extraction of lipids were performed by Soxhlet extractor for 12 hours. Amounts of lipids were extracted 79.57% in ethylether, 70.15% in chloroform, and 72.35% in n-hexane. 3. Chemical constants of lipids in Duck meat were obtained as follows : Saponification number 201.5, Acid number 5.01, Iodine number 50.1 and Carbonyl number 4.5 4. It was investigated that the fatty acid component were quantitatively determined by the gas chromatography : Linolenic acid 1.6%, Linoleic acid 19.9%, Oleic acid 45.9%, Stearic acid 3.1% Palmitic acid 17.2% and Myristic acid 0.12% in leg portion. Linolenic acid 1.7% Linoleic acid 17.2%, Oleic acid 51.2%, Stearic acid 3.3%, Palmitic acid 17.1% and Myristic acid 0.17% in breast portion. 5. Cholesterol of blood, breast and leg portion fat in Duck were obtained as follows : Total cholesterol 200 mg%, 260 mg% , and 400 mg% respectively; cholesterol ester 120mg%, 151 mg%, and 240mg% respectively.
To inhibit the import of hot sauce, the manufacturing process of the Korean type hot sauce was developed. Chemical analysis of the imported hot sauce showed as follows; moisture 95.66% (w/w), salt 2.79% (w/w), titratable acidity 3.62% (w/w), crude fiber 0.42% (w/w), reducing sugar 0.03% (w/w), capsanthin 0.89% (w/w), capsaicin 4.28 mg% and pH 3.26. Korean type hot sauce prepared with red pepper, salt and vinegar was aged in oak barrel for 12 months at $10^{\circ}C$. Chemical analysis of the Korean type hot sauce showed as follows; moisture 92.05% (w/w), salt 8.82% (w/w), titratable acidity 3.88% (w/w), crude fiber 3.14% (w/w), reducing sugar 1.78% (w/w), capsanthin 0.13% (w/w), capsaicin 2.32 mg% and pH 3.29. Among chemical components, the contents of reducing sugar, salt and crude fiber except capsaicin and capsanthin were more than those of imported one. Chemical components of the Korean type hot sauce were changed slightly during aging for 12 months. The cell counts of yeast were increased from $3.2{\times}10^2\;to\;5.2{\times}10^6$ till the second month and those of lactic acid bacteria were increased from $3.{\times}10^1\;to\;1.5{\times}10^7$ till the third month, those of yeast and lactic acid bacteria decreased from the eighth month showed $6.6{\times}10^4$ and not detectable on the twelfth month, respectively. As the results of sensory evaluation on the Korean type hot sauce were evaluated to be superior to the imported to be superior to the imported one.
The correlations between environmental influences on microorganisms in soil and its effects on disease development in ginseng field were studied to obtain some useful data for increasing ginseng production and effective preventive measures against the root rot caused by soil-borne pathogens. The diseased replanted ginseng fields were selected as the diseased field and the healthy plot in first planted field selected as control in three major Korean ginseng producing areas such as Kumsan, Goesan and Poonggi. The physicochemical characteristics of the soil were analyzed and microorganisms susceptible for root rot of ginseng, such as Fusarium spp. and general fungi were investigated for their population density in various soil conditions. Correlations between soil microbial populations and environmental factors were investigated. The numbers of Fusarium spp. propagules were abundant in fall in both soil conditions. The numbers of Fusarium spp. were 1.9 to 2.6 times higher in replanted field than first planted field except Goesan area. Relative ratio of Fusarium spp. to total fungi propagules in replanted field was 1.6 times higher in replanted field than first planted field indicating higher numbers of Fusarium spp. distributed in replanted field of soil. The numbers of propagules of total fungi were increased in June and July and there was no sensitive variation according to the temperature. There was no significant difference in vertical distributions of total fungi according to soil depth, while the total fungi were abundant in the surface layer and $10{\sim}15\;cm$ layer. The contents of organic matter and phosphate in healthy field were somewhat high, and phosphate/organic matter ratio and Mg contents were high in diseased field. All of the soils showed a weak acidic pH of 4.5 to 5.7. Soil moisture contents were increased during winter season, but did not show any significant changes during the growing periods, showing 24.6% in healthy field and 19.5% in diseased field respectively. Soil temperature was the highest in July and August and the lowest in January and February.
The purpose of this study was to find out a suitable resin to remove $NO_3-N$ from groundwater. Four different commercial resins differentiated by type, porosity and nitrate selectivity were used to compare the performance of nitrate removal. Gel type, Type 2 anion exchange resin was preferable when anion concentration of raw water was low. But efficiency of this resin decreased as flow rate increased. However, macroporous type resins were not affected by increasing flow rate. Macroporous resins were preferable when anion concentrations in raw water were high and high flow rate was proposed. And the general type resin showed better efficiency when sulfate concentrations were low. However the nitrate selective resin had better efficiency in treating raw water of high sulfate concentration. From the results, it may be drawn that nitrate selective resins are preferable to general type when a sulfate concentration in groundwater is over 50mg/l.

This study was conducted to investigate the growth of soybean sprouts and the effective hormonal refutation of vitamin C content by the concentration and combination of kinetin and auxins such as IAA, 2.4-D and NAA. The results were as follows; 1. The growth of soybean sprouts were fine under the respective conditions of kinetin $10^{-8}M+IAA\;10^{-6}M$, kinetin $10^{-7}M+IAA\;10^{-5}M$, kinetin $10^{-6}M+IAA\;10^{-6}M$, kinetin $10^{-5}M+IAA\;10^{-7}M$, kinetin $10^{-8}M+2,4-D\;10^{-8}M$ and kinetin $10^{-7}M+NAA\;10^{-5}M$. 2. The root development of soybean sprouts were almost in accord with the growth of soybean sprouts by the concentration of kinetin and auxin. 3. The content of vitamin C were more increased under in kinetin $10^{-8}M+IAA\;10^{-8}M$, kinetin $10^{-6}M+2,4-D\;10^{-5}M$ and kinetin $10^{-8}M+NAA\;10^{-8}M$ and both growth and vitamin C content were more activated under kinetin $10^{-8}M+IAA\;10^{-6}M$ and $10^{-8}M+NAA\;10^{-8}M$. 4. The growth, root development and vitamin C content were increased in the low kinetin and high IAA, NAA concentration. Root development and vitamin C content of soybean hypocotyl were decreased in the low kinetin and high 2,4-D concentration.
