The new Camellia sinensis L. variety, "Hankwang" was selected from 630 clones of the tea plant clone garden in Bioenergy Crop Research Center, National Institute of Crop Science (NICS), RDA. This variety was selected to develop superior variety for high productivity and nutrient components from 2004-2008. We evaluated the clones by the characteristics of the leaf, nutrient components, and yield. "Hankwang" was finally selected from six regional trials from 2006-2008. The number of buds and weight of "Hankwang" were better than the control cultivar "Yabukata". "Hankwang" was observed to be more resistant to cold and disease compared to the control. The nutrient components of "Hankwang" such as tannin, catechin, total nitrogen, and caffeine were 16.7, 6.08, 2.32 and 2.00%, respectively.

'Yeomyeong', a new welsh onion (Allium fistulosum L.) variety, is developed by the Bioenergy Crop Research Center, NICS, RDA in 2004. This variety, as interspecific $F_1$ hybrid, is developed by a cross between onion (Allium. cepa L.) and welsh onion (A. fistulosum L). The first cross was conducted in 2003 between MOS8, onion male sterile line and G2, welsh onion inbred line. Horticultural and yield characteristics of this hybrid $F_1$ line was investigated in greenhouse for 2 years from 2004 to 2005 with fall cropping cultivation. It has a single pseudostem plant type, anthocyanin-colored pseudostem, and male sterile umbel. It showed intermediate plant type of the maternal parents in overall plant characteristics. 'Yeomyeong' is fall sawing variety and has higher plant height and pseudostem length than that of check variety 'Gumjang'. The yield potential of this variety was about 130.1MT/ha in greenhouse in spring harvseting season. This variety would be adaptable to the fall sowing cultivation in green house.

Ultraviolet radiation exposure is a major cause of extrinsic skin aging, which leads to skin hyperpigmentation. Loganin, a major iridoid glycoside obtained from Corni fructus, has anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and neuroprotective effects. In this study, we investigated the mechanisms underlying the anti-melanogenic effects of loganin in B16F10 melanocytes treated with ${\alpha}$-melanocyte stimulating hormone (${\alpha}-MSH$) and 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX). Anti-melanogenic activity was measured by treating cells with loganin at concentrations between 1 and $20{\mu}m$. Cell viability assays confirmed that doses of loganin up to $20{\mu}m$ were not cytotoxic. Loganin significantly and dose-dependently decreased intracellular melanin production. We also investigated potential molecular signaling pathways for the anti-melanogenesis effects of loganin. Western blotting showed that treatment with ${\alpha}-MSH$ and IBMX increased the phosphorylation of cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) and the gene expressions of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF) and tyrosinase. Addition of loganin suppressed these increases, while promoting the phosphorylation of extracellular signal regulated kinase (ERK) and the anti-melanogenesis response. Our data therefore indicated that loganin could attenuate the increased melanin synthesis induced by ${\alpha}-MSH$ and IBMX treatment of B16F10 melanocytes. This attenuation appears to occur by downregulation of CREB phosphorylation and MITF and tyrosinase gene expression and upregulation of ERK phosphorylation. These finding suggests that loganin could be a valuable candidate for treatment of skin diseases related to hyperpigmentation.
Objectives: This study was produced to examine the effects of moxibustion that had been played important role to traditional oriental medical treatment on disease. Recently, it was reported that moxi-tar which is generated in the process of moxibustion as burning combustibles decreased nitric oxide(NO) and inducible NO synthase (iNOS) generation in cellular experiments. Methods: Carrageenan-induced arthritis rat model was used to test the effect of moxi-tar as a chronic pain model. Diluted moxi-tar was single injected in several acupoints or combined with electroacupuncture (l ms, 2 Hz, and 2 mA) into contralateral ST36 acupoint for 30 min to assess the synergic effects. After the treatment, behavioral tests measuring stepping force were periodically conducted during the next 12 hours. Endogenous NO and iNOS, cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and c-Fos protein expression in the spinal cord were examined on a rat model of carrageenan-induced arthritis. Results : After the induction of arthritis, rats subsequently showed a reduced stepping force of the affected limb for at least the next 4 days. The reduced stepping force of the limb was presumably due to a painful knee, since oral injection of indomethacin produced temporary improvement of weight bearing. Maxi-tar produced significant improvement of stepping force of the hindlimb affected by the arthritis lasting at least 9 hours. The magnitude of this improvement was equivalent to that obtained after an oral injection of 3 mg/kg of indomethacin and this improvement of stepping force was interpreted as an analgesic effect. Maxi-tar produced the improvement of stepping force of the affected hindlimb in a dose-dependent manner. Both NO production and iNOS, COX-2 protein expression increased by arthritis were suppressed by maxi-tar. Moxi-tar on combination with electroacupuncture (EA) produced more powerful and longer lasting improvement of stepping force of the hindlimb affected by the arthritis than either moxi-tar or EA did. Conclusion : The present study suggest that maxi-tar produces a potent analgesic effect on the chronic knee arthritis pain model in the rat and that moxi-tar-induced analgesia modulate endogenous NO through the suppression of iNOS/COX-2 protein expression.

The IMO (International Maritime Organization) is discussing the improvement of energy ef iciency of ships in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ships. Currently, by applying an ORC power generation system using waste heat generated from ships, high energy conversion efficiency can be expected from ships. This technology uses an organic medium based on Freon or hydrocarbons as the working fluid, which evaporates at a lower temperature range than water. Through this, it is possible to generate steam (gas) and generate power at a low and low temperature relatively. In this study, the analysis of heat flow between the refrigerant and waste heat in the ORC power generation system, which is an organic Rankine cycle, is analyzed using 3D simulation techniques to determine the temperature change, velocity change, pressure change, and mass change of the fluid flowing of the WHRU (Waste Heat Recovery Unit) inside and the outside the structure. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the mass change affects the structure, and this study analyzed the heat transfer of the heat exchanger from the refrigerant and the exhaust gas of the ship's main engine in the ORC power generation system using this technique.
Residual life assessment of reformer tubes of mod HP steel used in the refinery and petrochemical industry were investigated by quantitative metallographic evaluation method. Area fractions of precipitated carbides were measured by using surface replication and its relationship with the remaining life of the tube was investigated. The microstructures of the virgin and other tubes were examined using optical microscopy (OM) for service periods of 1.8, 6.0, 7.2, 8.5, 9.7, and 16.2 years at 950 ℃ and the area fractions of the precipitates were measured by image analysis using ImageJ software. As the area fraction of the precipitates increased, the residual life was decreased accordingly. The results showed that the LMP was the highest in the virgin and the LMP decreased as the service time increased and the residual life decreased. A regressional equation showing the relation between the area fraction of carbides and LMP was experimentally derived. The obtained relationship can be used with the surface replication method for on-site residual life assessment.

This Experiment was conducted to determine the effects of light shield materials when melon grown inside a plastic greenhouse in summer season. The average temperatures were 36.6℃, 34.5℃ and 34.0℃ respectively for the control(non-shield), coating agent, and the white net. The light transmittances were 69% and 75%, respectively inside the greenhouse treated with the coating agent and white net immediately after applicants, compared with that inside the control greenhouse. At the 40 and 80 days after treatment, the light transmittances for the coating agent were 92% and 98%, respectively, indicating it was slowly decomposed and removed, but there was no change in the transmittance for the white net. While the leaf number did not differ among the treatments, the plant height was higher in the white net and shading agent than in control. The weight of the leaves, fresh-weight and dry-weight were no different from that of shading, but it became heavier in the later stages. The marketable fruit yield was increased by 6% for white nets and 5% for the coating agent compared to control, there was no statistical significance. Therefore, coating agent is considered as an effective method to lower temperature during high temperature period, but it is preferable to use it in consideration of cultivation period, because the coating agent is gradually removed.

'Jomang' is a new $F_1$ hybrid variety of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) with early maturation, high yield and high oleic acid. This hybrid variety was developed from the cross between Mokpo-CGMS (male sterile line) and 8516-B-5-6-5-3 (restore line) for the production of edible oil and biodiesel in 2006. Yield trials were conducted from 2007 to 2008, and regional adaptation trials were examined at four locations in 2008. 'Jomang' has green and parted leaf, yellowish flower and black seed coat. The ripening date of 'Jomang' is 1~4 days earlier than 'Sunmang' and 'Tammiyuchae'. The average seed yield of the regional adaptation trials was 406 kg/10a, which was 7% and 42% higher than those of 'Sunmang' and 'Tammiyuchae,' respectively. Total oil content of 'Jomang' was 44.5%. 'Jomang' has no erucic acid in fatty acid composition. However, oleic acid content is 68.2%, which is 3.4% and 5.1% higher than 'Tammiyuchae' and 'Sunmang,' respectively. Total glucosinolate content was 2.31 mg/g. Therefore, this variety is recommended as a leading variety at southwestern area including Jeonnam, Jeonbuk and Kyongnam provinces and Cheju island of Korea.
From January 2 to December 30, 2017, out of 691 children diagnosed with dermatophytoses infection, 179 children had infections caused by Trichophyton among the total 13,093 patients who visited the Dermatology department. According to a survey, the patients included 317 adolescents, 203 elementary school age children, and 171 infants. In seasonal variation, the diagnosis was higher in summer (195 cases, 28%) and winter (191, 28%) and comparatively lower in spring (165, 24%) and autumn (140, 20%). The infection among the patients was caused by, from maximum to minimum, T. pedis (351, 51%), T. corporis (91, 13%), and T. unguinum (77, 11%). In all age groups, the highest number of patients were infected with T. pedis. After T. pedis, in descending order, the infection was caused by T. corporis, T. unguinum, T. manus and Tinea capitis in the infants and elementary school age children and by T. corporis, T. unguinum and T. cruris in adolescents. Among infections caused by Trichophyton, T. rubrum was the highest isolated causative agent. This data analysis confirmed the distribution of dermatophytoses and the different species according to paediatric age and will aid the study of paediatric dermatomycosis through continuous research.

Background and Objectives : Pediatric vocal health problems are relatively common. However, it is not yet well studied whether uniform diagnosis and treatment is done properly in South Korea. The purpose of this study was to investigate the methods that the Korean speech therapists use to diagnose and treat pediatric voice problem. Materials and Method : An anonymous online questionnaire was administered to 32 speech language therapists registered at the Korean laryngeal speech linguistics society detailing demographics, employment institution, general management of pediatric patients with vocal problem including assessment and treatment procedures. Results : Current practice patterns were analyzed on 32 speech language therapists providing services in South Korea mostly working at tertiary university hospital. One third of pediatric patients were assessed without proceeding to treatment. One fifth of patients were treated without assessment. Perceptual assessment was the main pretreatment assessment methods used. Treatment was done in the following order : Voice rest, SOVT, yawn-sigh and resonant voice. Post-treatment evaluation was used in the following order : Instrumental assessment, clinical judgment, and recording comparison. Conclusion : Speech language therapists practice in South Korea mostly follows the ASHA practice guidelines. However, there are still great amount of cases in which only the evaluation was done without appropriate treatment. Further research is needed to make SPLs more systematic and efficient for evaluating and treating pediatric vocal patients.
