The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects and limitations of cognitive & behavioral therapy that applied to the social phobia. In this case, a female patient, 25 old, who had been treated distantly by her friends, was trained to catch her dysfunctional belief and maladaptive automatic thoughts. In this training, we used homework and counselling for 2months. And we diagnosed her state as SimDamHeoGup(心膽虛怯), so we used acupuncture treatment and herbs, for example HaChulBoShimTang(夏朮補心湯) and GuiBiWonDamTang(歸脾溫膽湯). In result, she could recover social relationship slowly. Conclusionally, cognitive & behavioral therapy can be very effective methods to treat social phobia, because patients with social phobia have maladaptive automatic thoughts, based on dysfunctional beliefs like 'I'm infelicitous' or 'I'm ineffective'.

Alzheimer's disease(AD) is a geriatric dementia that is widespread in old age. In the future AD will be the largest problem in public health service. From old times, Much medicines have been used for treatment of dementia, but there is no medicine having obvious effect. AD is one of brain retrogression disease. So We studied on herbal medicine that have a relation of brain retrogression. From old times, In Oriental Medicine, Rhizoma Acori Graminei has been used for disease in relation to brain retrogression. We studied on the effects of anti-Alzheimer in pCT105-induced neuroblastoma cell lines by Rhizoma Acori Graminei extract As the result of this study, In RAG group, the apoptosis in the nervous system is inhibited, the repair against the degerneration of Neuroblastoma cells by CT105 expression is promoted. These results indicate that RAG possess strong inhibitory effect of apoptosis in the nervous system and repair effect against the degeneration of Neuroblastoma cells by CT105 expression.

Insomnia is one of the highest frequency neuropsychosis of neuropsychiatry patients and is primarily caused by major depressive disorder. This case study is about a remedy for a 33 year-old woman who has insomnia and intense depressed mood caused by the continuous family jar. Also, she had the feeling of squeezing her body, pouring cold water into her body, anorexia and feeling cold and hot turn and turn. I operated mindfullness with accupuncture, herb-medication and aroma theraphy. Especially, mindfullness and Gagamguibi-tang were effective for relaxation and the sound sleep in quality and quantity. According to this study, the traditional oriental medical remedy such as accupuncture, herb-medication is effective for the cure of insomnia and mindfullness fortifies the oriental medical remedy.

The Purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical application of distillation Herbal medicine and Counseling Treatment to the insomnia In this case, a female patient, 40 years old, who had an adverse reaction of a Herbal medicine, complained of insomnia. We treated the patient with distillation Herbal medicine and Counseling. we diagnosed her state Rhosangsimbi(勞傷心脾), so we prescribed distillation Gagamguibi-tang(加減歸脾湯) for patient. In result, the patient's hours of sleep was increased to 6 hours from 1 hour. Conclusionally, Distillation Herbal medicine and Counseling Treatment Could be Effective method to treat the patient of insomnia with an adverse reaction of a Herbal medicine.

Although most of flutter of palpebranum (part of Tourette's disorder) was though to be functional and psychogenic emotional disorder, author has understood that it was organic disease due to abnormal interaction of Heart Gall bladder according to many clinical experience. The confirmation was accomplished by four examinations, pulse, meridian and it was supplemented by ECG because it was surely to correlate with the wave of ECG. The treatment was done medically by prescirbing mainly O pe san, samsoyeum, zagumhuan and good result was obtained.

Conversion disorder is disease that anxiety is converted to physical symptom by suppression of complication unconsciously. This case is that of conversion disorder resulted from school work. The treatment of Conversion disorder is anxiety syndrome's removement. But if not possible, as a symptomatic treatment, approvement of symptom is significant, in a sense. By use of Oriental medical treatment, we could improve symptoms of two case conversion disorders. Sooner or later, the patients gained a complete recovery. So, more objective study and treatment about conversion disorder by Oriental medicine's demonstration is needed.

In previous studies, heat shock has been reported to induce the apoptosis or programmed cell death through the activation of caspase-3. 1 investigated the effect of juniper pure essential oil on the heat shock-induced apoptosis in human astrocyte cell line CCF-STTGI. Treatment of the astrocytes with heat shock markedly induced apoptotic cell death. However, pretreatment of the astrocytes with juniper oil ingibited the heat shock-induced apoptosis. To determine whether juniper inhibits the heat shock-induced activation of these apoptotic proteases, activation of CPP32 was assessed by Western blotting. Consistent with flow cytometry. DNA fragmentation and giemsa staining, heat shock-induced activation of CPP32 was blocked by juniper oil. Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), cysteine protease substrates were fragmented as a consequence of apoptosis by heat shock. Juniper oil inhibited the PARP fragmentation. This juniper oil also inhibited the heat shock-induced activation of caspase-3. These results suggest that juniper oil may modulate the apoptosis through the activation of the interleukin-1-converting enzyme-like protease.

Object : The present experiments were designed to study on the memory enhancement of the extract of Gongjadaesungjichimjung-bang(GDJB). Methods : The water extract of GCJB has been tested for its activities on memory enhancement by passive avoidance task in vivo and for its inhibitory effect on the acetylcholine esterase activity. Results : GDJB water extract significantly enhanced the memory at a concentration of 50mg/kg, but this effect did not proportionally increased at a dose of l00mg/kg and significantly inhibited the acetylcholine esterase activity in a dose-dependent manner in in vitro assay with IC50 value of 1.57mg/ml and also in in vivo assay. Conclusion : The extract of GDJB showed a memory enhancement as well as the inhibitory effect on acetylcholine esterase activity, which suggest that this prescription may be applied for the treatment of memory impairment.

This study was conducted to find out the effects of Jowiseungchungtang on learning and memory of rats. For this purpose, the radial-arm maze was used. The results of the study were summarized as follows.1. It was shown that the rate of rats that met the learning criteria when performing the learning is that the control group amounted to 40.0% while the Jowiseungchungtang group did 73.3%. The other showed higher learning effect than the one but there was no statistical significance.2. In the retention test performed with rats that met the learning criteria, the frequency of errors made by the two groups was 3.33$\pm$2.25 times for the control group and 1.36$\pm$1.12 times for Jowisrungchungtang group. The other was remarkably lower than the one in the frequency of errors.In conclusion, the study suggested that the Jowiseungchungtang have an effect on improvement of learning and memory.

Objectives : This study was performed to examine the effect of Sinchim on enhancing of memory in rat with water maze. Methods : Experimental animals(white rat) were classfied into normal, control, and aroma sample group. Then, they were injected .{\beta}-amyloid into control and aroma sample group rat's brain about $5{\mu}l$ to injure its brain. After rat smelt Sinchim about 12days, I did water maze test and anatomized its hippocampus. Sections were cut coronally at 30 ${\mu}m$.(XI00) Results: 1. In acquisition test of water maze learning, .{\beta}-amyloid injured group took more time than normal group to reach the escape platform noticeably and through the session of trial, Sinchim aroma sample group shortened time than .l3-amyloid injured group after 6 days. 2. In the acetyltransferase(AchE) immunostained method, it was shown that Sinchim aroma sample recovered tbe syntbesis of ChAT(Choloneacetyltransferase). Conclusion: Smelling Sinchim would be useful for enhancing of memory.
