Head injuries are the most common type of birth injuries. Among them, most of the injuries is limited to the scalp. and the prognosis is good enough to be unnoticed in some cases. Intracranial injuries caused by excessive forces during delivery are rare. However, since some of them can be fatal, it is necessary to suspect it at an early stage and evaluate thoroughly if there are abnormal findings in the patient.

While the survival rate of preterm infants has increased dramatically over the last few decades, intraventricular hemorrhage and subsequent hydrocephalus remain major unsolved problems in neonatal intensive care. Once intraventricular hemorrhage occurs, severe neurological sequelae are inevitable. Treatment of this complicated pathology and achievement of favorable neurofunctional outcomes in fragile infants are crucial challenges for pediatric neurosurgeons. Fibrinolytic therapy, which chemically dissolves hematoma, is a promising and useful treatment method. In this paper, the historical background of fibrinolytic therapy for post-intraventricular hemorrhagic hydrocephalus in preterm infants is reviewed and a recent method of fibrinolytic therapy using urokinase is introduced.

The anterior choroidal artery has several kinds of variations. Among them, the transposition of anterior choroidal artery and posterior communicating artery origins has been extremely rare. We report a case with cerebral aneurysm arising from posterior communicating artery which origin was distal to the anterior choroidal artery and review the relevant literature.

Chordoma is a rare bone tumor derived from remnants of the notochord. The majority of chordomas involve the sacrum or skull base. We report a rare case of a L4 vertebral body chordoma treated with anterior en bloc vertebrectomy and posterior stabilization. No tumor recurrence was observed at the 5 year follow-up examination.

Textiloma is an inflammatory mass containing surgical sponges that are unintentionally left behind in a surgical wound. This complication has been most commonly described by abdominal and gynecologic surgeons. However, the occurrence of textiloma after intracranial procedures especially under the temporalis muscle has not been documented. The author reports a rare case of textiloma of the pterion in a patient who presented with a subcutaneous tumor developed eight years after frontotemporal craniotomy for aneurysm clipping.

Intramedullary clear cell meningioma[CCM]. which is more aggressive than other variants of meningioma, is extremely rare. To date, only one case has been documented in spinal tumors. We report the first case of an intramedullary CCM originating in the spinal cord at the thoracic region.

Ewing's sarcoma usually arises from skeletal bone, but rarely may have an extraskeletal origin. However, Ewing's sarcoma that originates around the spinal column, especially, the intradural extramedullary type is extremely rare. We report a rare case of primary intraspinal extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma.

We report a rare case of cauda equina syndrome due to bilateral lumbar facet cyst. A 62-year-old woman has developed both legs sciatica 3 months prior to her visit, but recently motor weakness and voiding difficulty occurred. Lumbar magnetic resonance image showed bilateral lumbar facet cyst compressing and surrounding both L5 nerve root and accompanying spinal stenosis. Urgent decompressive laminectomy and cyst removal was performed. Although sciatica was relieved and motor weakness was recovered usefully. Voiding difficulty and dysesthesia were not improved.

Primary spinal cord lymphomas are rare, and are either extra-/intradural masses with leptomeningeal infiltration or intramedullary in nature. The authors present a patient with a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma involving the sacral nerve root, extension to extradural space, and the cranial nerve.
