The data for this study were collected in a personal interview and the final sample consisted of 178 respondents and the statistics employed to analyze the data are discriminant analysis $\chi$2-test. As a result of the discriminant analysis, it was shown that environmentally conscious private households consumed less energy, had lower transportation costs, but spent more time in purchasing behavior in the market compared with those who did not exhibit environmentally conscious behavior. Environmentally conscious behavior of private households differed significantly according to the education of housewives, and also to the level of environmental consciousness and environmental education of the respondents.

Green IT becomes popular as a method to reduce environmental pollution as well as a method to develop IT industry. The purpose of this paper is to develop education contents of green IT for elementary school students. For this purpose, extensive literature review works have been searched and analysed. In this paper, education contents of green IT are developed for three categories, knowledge, application, and ethics. In order to verify the validity of practical guidelines in application category, 55 elementary school teachers are randomly selected and their responses are gathered and analyzed through thorough statistical work. We expect that the proposed education contents will be guidelines for future green IT education.

This research was conducted to develop an education system that is designed to build students' attitude and habit of environmental preservation through acquiring knowledge and functions of natural environment. The proposed system supports diverse learning activities such as writing, drawing, listening natural sounds and music, and problem solving. The system is technically designed on the Web to promote students' creativity and autonomy, and also are theoretically based on constructivism to build the will of environmental preservation. Moreover, the proposed Web-based system includes diverse functions such as classes, material resources, environmental quiz pool, environmental work gallery, which motivate students' learning activities. • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of NIE(newspaper in education) program in improving students' environmental knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. Whereas 92 tenth-grade girls were controlled as a lecture-type group, who were taught mostly with science textbooks, 95 tenth-grade girls were experimented as an NIE group, who actively utilized newspaper into classroom discussion. After 12 units were conducted in each group, girls of NIE group improved significantly more than those of lecture-type group in environmental knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. Such effectiveness of NIE learning commonly appeared throughout all achievement levels, except that environmental knowledge of lower-achieved girls did not show significant differences between two groups. This result proposes the need for active consideration of NIE learning in developing new environmental education program.

  • This study evaluated the effects of sanitary education administered to elementary and middle school foodservice employees with work experience. The subjects of this study were 360 school foodservice employees in Gyeonggi-do during August, 2010. Sanitary education and awareness were assessed using three major dimensions: food sanitation (six items), personal hygiene (five items), and environmental sanitation (three items). Each dimension was categorized according to several items in the form of a self-evaluated Likert 5 point scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN Version 12.0 package. The results showed that employees who worked for 5~10 years in the foodservice industry scored better in three dimensions before sanitary education compared to other groups. After sanitary education, all employees scored better in food sanitation than before, and employees who worked less than 5 years scored better at personal hygiene dimension than other groups. For environmental sanitation, employees who worked for 5~10 years scored better than other groups. Employees who worked for more than 10 years scored worse before and after sanitary education but scored highest for sanitary awareness. Employees between the ages of 31 and 40 showed significantly different scores before and after sanitary education.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the tendency of the new generation’s consumer roles and green consumption behavior for the environmental conservation. This study is also to reveal some fundamental information for an environmental education program which si able to support the new generation consumers to participate voluntarily in an environmental activity. The 500 subjects of this study were selected from the new generation consumers who wre residing in Seoul, 1998. The 414 data wre finally analyzed by Mean, t-Test, ANOVA, and Multiple Regression Analysis. The major findings were as follows: 1) the purchasing roles of the new generation consumer tended to be higher than the citizen participation’s roles. The variables with the higher score for the new generation’s green consumption behavior were in the rank of the isolation of environmental waste, the purchasing behavior of green product, the recycling environmental resource, and citizen’s participating roles in environmental activity. 2) the new generation’s consumer roles showed a significant differences, according to variables for the environmental value, environmental education, and participation of the environmental and societal activity 3) the green consumption behavior for the new generation consumers showed a significant differences, according to sex, environmental value, participation of the environmental and societal activity. 4) the most influential variables for the green consumption behavior of the new generation consumers were in the rank of consumer roles, educational values, and the participation of the environmental activity. As we see above, the consumer education for the new generations needs to focus on consumer’s roles that let them participate voluntarily in environmental and societal activity, as well as practice positively to use green environmental products whenever they select some items in the markets.
