  • Currently, despite the quantitative growth of domestic journal, objective and metric criterion to evaluate the contents and quality of those journals is inadequate. As a result, depending on a foreign citation index like SCI to evaluate the research result is causing some problems such as, thesis of an excellent standard being presented and published in foreign countries, thus, neglecting journals written in Korean. Hereat, the Korea Citation Index(KCI) is constructing a database of the journals published by academic associations; scientific paper information, articles information, and bibliographic, analyzing the quoting relation. Consequently, KCI is providing the basic information and the corresponding quoting relations of journals and papers on its webpage. This study compares the impact level of domestic accounting related journals by KCI and analyzes the network among journals using the cross-citation frequency from a social network analysis point of view. As a result, Accounting-related journals are now more desirable than the location in order to have a variety of interdisciplinary research needs to be encouraged. Through this exchange of other disciplines and actively made, which is the phase of apparent accounting-related journals expect to be greatly enhanced looks.

  • This study presents a new method to evaluate patents by public R&D program using patent citation network analysis. I used forward citation, degree centrality, betweenness centrality and page rank as the dependent variables which represents the quality of patents. I used primary independent variable as a dummy of public R&D program and controlled patents characteristics, applicant characteristics, technological characteristics and year effect. The empirical result shows that the patents of public R&D program is superior to other patents in regard to the number of forward citation, the degree centrality, the betweenness centrality and the page rank. This empirical result implies that patents of public R&D program directly and effectively connects technologies. Also patents from public R&D program connects important technologies.

  • This study aims at proposing three prestige indices-closeness prestige, input domain, and proximity prestige- as useful measures for the impact of a particular node in citation networks. It compares these prestige indices with other impact indices as it is still unknown what dimensions of impact these indices actually measure. The prestige indices enable us to distinguish the most prominent actors in a directed network, similar to the centrality indices in undirected networks. Correlation analysis and principal component analysis were conducted on the author citation network to identify the differentiated implications of the three prestige indices from the existing impact indices. We selected simple citation counting, h-index, PageRank, and the three kinds of centrality indices which assume undirected networks as the existing impact measures for comparison with the three prestige indices. The results indicate that these prestige indices demonstrate distinct impact dimension from the other impact indices. The prestige indices reflect indirect impact while the others direct impact.

  • Traditional models for categorizing researcher types have mostly utilized research output metrics. This study proposes a new model that classifies researchers based on the characteristics of research collaboration. The model uses only research collaboration indicators and does not rely on citation data, taking into account that citation impact is related to collaborative research. The model categorizes researchers into four types based on their collaborative research pattern and scope: Sparse & Wide (SW) type, Dense & Wide (DW) type, Dense & Narrow (DN) type, Sparse & Narrow (SN) type. When applied to the quantum metrology field, the proposed model was statistically verified to show differences in citation indicators and co-author network indicators according to the classified researcher types. The proposed researcher type classification model does not require citation information. Therefore, it is expected to be widely used in research management policies and research support services.

  • By document co-citation analysis with Korean Citation Index (KCI) data, this study accurately identified the research fronts and hot topics in Korean library and information science (LIS) from 2004 to 2013. 159 core papers in LIS domain and their citations are scraped manually from Korean Citation Index web site. In the cluster analysis and network analysis, 159 core papers were grouped into 27 clusters with multiple papers and 8 singlton clusters. Among the 27 clusters which have multple papers, 'LIS education' cluster was the largest with 16 core papers, and 'citation analysis & intellectual structure analysis' cluster had the strongest citation impact according to the ehs-index. Closer observation of the citations to the core papers in each research front showed that 67.5% of the citations were made by LIS research papers and 32.5% of the citations were made by non-LIS research papers. Considering the share of citations and the citation impact growth index, 'local documentation', 'citation analysis & intellectual structure analysis', and 'research trends analysis' were identified as the most emerging research front in Korean library and information science. The analytical methods used in this study have great potential in discovering the characteristics of research fronts in Korean interdisciplinary research domains.

  • Word-of-mouth (WoM) is defined by consumer activities that share information concerning consumption. WoM activities have long been recognized as important in corporate marketing processes and have received much attention, especially in the marketing field. Recently, according to the development of the Internet, the way in which people exchange information in online news and online communities has been expanded, and WoM is diversified in terms of word of mouth, score, rating, and liking. Social media makes online users easy access to information and online WoM is considered a key source of information. Although various studies on WoM have been preceded by this phenomenon, there is no meta-analysis study that comprehensively analyzes them. This study proposed a method to extract major researches by applying text mining techniques and to grasp the main issues of researches in order to find the trend of WoM research using scholarly big data. To this end, a total of 4389 documents were collected by the keyword 'Word-of-mouth' from 1941 to 2018 in Scopus (www.scopus.com), a citation database, and the data were refined through preprocessing such as English morphological analysis, stopwords removal, and noun extraction. To carry out this study, we adopted main path analysis (MPA) and word co-occurrence network analysis. MPA detects key researches and is used to track the development trajectory of academic field, and presents the research trend from a macro perspective. For this, we constructed a citation network based on the collected data. The node means a document and the link means a citation relation in citation network. We then detected the key-route main path by applying SPC (Search Path Count) weights. As a result, the main path composed of 30 documents extracted from a citation network. The main path was able to confirm the change of the academic area which was developing along with the change of the times reflecting the industrial change such as various industrial groups. The results of MPA revealed that WoM research was distinguished by five periods: (1) establishment of aspects and critical elements of WoM, (2) relationship analysis between WoM variables, (3) beginning of researches of online WoM, (4) relationship analysis between WoM and purchase, and (5) broadening of topics. It was found that changes within the industry was reflected in the results such as online development and social media. Very recent studies showed that the topics and approaches related WoM were being diversified to circumstantial changes. However, the results showed that even though WoM was used in diverse fields, the main stream of the researches of WoM from the start to the end, was related to marketing and figuring out the influential factors that proliferate WoM. By applying word co-occurrence network analysis, the research trend is presented from a microscopic point of view. Word co-occurrence network was constructed to analyze the relationship between keywords and social network analysis (SNA) was utilized. We divided the data into three periods to investigate the periodic changes and trends in discussion of WoM. SNA showed that Period 1 (1941~2008) consisted of clusters regarding relationship, source, and consumers. Period 2 (2009~2013) contained clusters of satisfaction, community, social networks, review, and internet. Clusters of period 3 (2014~2018) involved satisfaction, medium, review, and interview. The periodic changes of clusters showed transition from offline to online WoM. Media of WoM have become an important factor in spreading the words. This study conducted a quantitative meta-analysis based on scholarly big data regarding WoM. The main contribution of this study is that it provides a micro perspective on the research trend of WoM as well as the macro perspective. The limitation of this study is that the citation network constructed in this study is a network based on the direct citation relation of the collected documents for MPA.

  • This study aims to compare ego-centered journal citation identities among four domestic journals in library and information science. Ego-centered citation identity refers to the set of authors that an author frequently cites. The target journals for this study are Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science (KSLIS), Journal of the Korean Biblia Society for Library and Information Science (KBIBLIA), Journal of Korean Library and Information Science Society (KLISS), and Journal of the Korean Society for Information Management (KOSIM). As a result of citation/citee ratio (CCR), self-citing rates (SCR), and journal co-cited analysis, the journal citation identities of four journals contained the other three journals besides the ego journal and JASIST. Furthermore, KOSIM had the most diverse range of journal citation identity and the four journals mattered the intra-journal information. KLISS showed the most unique cited journal network structure among the four journals.

  • The purpose of this study was twofold: 1) to analyze the impact factor of clothing and textile-related journals by utilizing the average number of cross-citation that evaluates the relative importance of an academic journal and 2) to provide a list of journals with higher impact factor by analyzing closeness and betweenness among individual journals through graph networks. To fulfill this, a total of 10 clothing and textile-related journals, which are accredited by National Research Foundation of Korea, were analyzed. For analysis of the average number of cross-citation, the targeted research papers were limited to those published between 2008 and 2011 and they were derived from the Korea Citation Index. The software used for network analysis was R ver. 2.15. The results of the study were as follow: First, 'The Korean Society of Knit Design' was indicated as the highest rate of self-citation, followed by 'Journal of the Korean Fashion & Costume Design Association.' Secondly, the average impact power of clothing & textile-related journals was relatively lower (0.681) compared to that (1.00) of 23 journals under the human ecology discipline. 'Korean Journal of Human Ecology' was found to have impact factor of 1.24, which was higher than the average impact factor of human ecology-related journals. Lastly, together with 'Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles.'
