조선시대 갑주 유물의 감정을 위한 현황파악과 시대구분 (Present Situations of the Remaining Korean Armors and Helmets of Joseon Dynasty and their Periodization for A Better Appraisal)

  • This is a basic study of the remaining armors and helmets of the Joseon period for our better understanding and better maintenance of them. For the purpose, this paper shall try to show the present situations of the remaining armor and helmets of the period in Korea, and their typical classification for periodization, and the nomenclature about them. First, to oversee the present situations of the remaining armor and helmets of the period, study was done about the kinds of armors and helmets, their users, and their possessors today. It was found that the exact dates and users were unclear for many cases of the armors and helmets under our consideration. It is understandable when we consider many of them were exported to foreign countries, instead of being well-preserved in Korea upon excavations. Secondly, for their typical classifications for periodization, types were delineated from the pictures and drawings in reference to the periodical changes of them from Korean historical records. The result was that we can find out 4 types of armors, and 3 types of helmets, with their combinations. This shall be usefully applied for the better periodization of the remaining items. Thirdly, we come to the problem of naming of the remaining armors and helmets. For better nomenclature of the remains all the names of the armors and helmets for the Joseon period are collected from historical literature, to figure out some principles of nomenclature for them. I found some discrepancies with the present names of them, and my propositions are suggested to replace them.

  • The "Ojangyukbudo五臟六腑圖", cited in "Ojangmun五藏門" of "Euibangyuchwi醫方類聚", was written by Ho Eum, a woman Taoist master who lived in Dang Dynasty. She put stress on the medical theory of the five viscera and the six entrails to overcome the side effects of Oedansul[alchemy for immortality] which prevailed during the period of Dang, and established a medical system which was based on six viscera and entrails and combined with Taoist theories. The major features of "Ojangyukbudo五臟六腑圖" can be summarized in the six-part medical system, the diagrams which describe the principles of viscera and entrails in detail, and the methods of Suyang[修養法:mental training], Tonap[吐納 法:respiration] and Doin[導引法:physical training] for regulating the functions of viscera and entrails and curing diseases. The "Dongeuibogam東醫寶鑑", a medical book from Joseon Dynasty, accepted the methods of Suyang and Doin, and the "Yorayak要略", a transcript from Joseon's later period, accepted the Taoist medicine based on six viscera and entrails, combined it with the contents of "Dongeuibogam東醫寶鑑", thus composing a unique medical system. Especially, the "Yorayak要略" is a literature important for the study of Joseon's Taoist medicine.

THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES OF MUSLIMS AND THE HUI HUI COMMUNITY OF KOREA IN MEDIEVAL TIMES

  • This paper details the advance of the "Hui" (回) people to Korea and their socioeconomic activities in forming their own community during the late Goryeo and early Joseon period. Hui (回) or Hui Hui (回回) is generally recognized as representative of Muslim culture in Chinese and Korean sources. From the $8^{th}$ century, Korean-Muslim cultural relations accelerated as an outcome of ancient Chinese-West Asian commercial transactions along the Silk Road. These contacts between Muslims and Koreans on the Korean peninsula are borne out by references to Korea found in 23 Islamic sources written between the $9^{th}$ and $16^{th}$ centuries by 18 Muslim scholars, including Ibn Khurdadbih, Sulaiman al-Tajir, and Mas'ud1 i. Ibn Khurdadbih was the first Arab who wrote of Muslims' residence in the Unified Silla Kingdom (661-935CE). However, in the period of Silla, we could not find any reliable written documents in Korea to show encounters between Korea and the Muslim world. In the Goryeosa (GS) chronicle, Muslim merchants who came to Korea were described as "Daesik" (大食: Tashi). Daesik (Tashi) is most probably derived from "Tajir", which means "trader" in Muslim language. Muslims' mass influx and their wide ranging influence on Korean society manifested from the late $13^{th}$ century when the Goryeo Dynasty first came under Mongol control and afterward in the early $15^{th}$ century with the new dynasty of Joseon in Korea.

한국 기록관리의 사적 고찰과 그 특징 (Historical Observation and the Characteristics of the Records and Archives Management in Korea)

  • 이 글은 조선시기부터 현재까지 한국 기록관리를 역사적으로 고찰하면서 그 특징을 소개한 것이다. 조선시기에 기록관리 제도가 구축되게 된 역사적 배경을 설명하고 1894년 갑오정권에서 근대적 기록관리 제도가 성립하였으며, 1948년 대한민국 정부가 수립되면서 미국의 행정학과 기록관리 방식을 수용하면서 새로운 기록관리제도가 정립되게 된 과정을 소개하였다. 끝으로 1999년 이후 "공공기관의 기록물 관리에 관한 법률"이 제정된 후 현대 기록관리제도가 확립되게 된 과정을 설명하였다. 조선시기에 기록을 잘 관리한 이유는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 관료제를 기반으로 한 조직사회이어서 기록을 잘 관리하는 것이 중요했다. 둘째 조선왕조의 성립과정에서 왕권과 신권이 대립하였는데, 그 대립과정의 타협물로서 "조선왕조실록" 등 기록이 남게 되었다. 셋째 현재의 경험을 기록으로 남겨 후대에 비슷한 일을 치룰 때에 참조하도록 하였다. 넷째 당대의 역사적 사건을 기록으로 남김으로써 후세에 역사적 평가를 받고자 하였다. 그런 측면에서 조선왕조는 역사적으로 중요한 기록을 많이 남겼다. 1894년 갑오정권은 권력을 장악하자 군국기무처를 설치하면서 개혁정책을 실시해갔다. 그것은 기록관리 부문에서도 나타났다. "명령반포식"을 공포하면서 법령의 제정과정을 규정하였고, 공문서 형식을 변화시켰다. 공문서 형식에서는 중국의 연호 대신에 '개국기년'을 사용하였으며, 사용 문자를 한자로부터 한글 혹은 국한문 혼용으로 바꾸었으며, 공문서 양식을 인쇄하여 사용하도록 하였다. 그리하여 정권의 독자성 및 자립성을 드러내도록 하였다. 1910년 일본제국주의가 조선을 식민지로 병탄하면서 조선의 기록관리 전통은 단절되고, 일제는 식민통치를 효율적으로 하기 위한 기록관리제도를 구축하였다. 1945년 한국은 일본제국주의로부터 해방되고, 1948년에 대한민국 정부를 수립하였다. 1950년대에 한국 정부는 일제의 기록관리제도를 그대로 원용하였다가, 1950년대 후반 이후 미국의 행정학과 기록관리 방식을 수용하면서 새로운 문서관리방식을 구축하게 되었다. 그러나 관료들의 기록관리에 대한 인식은 희박하였으며, 대통령기록 등 중요한 역사기록은 많이 파기되거나 유실되는 등 기록관리가 제대로 이루어지지 못하였다. 한국에서 기록관리가 제대로 행해진 것은 1999년 이후였다. 1999년에 "공공기관의 기록물관리에 관한 법률"이 제정되면서 기록관리에 대한 인식이 강화되었고, 2005년 "국가기록관리혁신 로드맵"이 작성되고 추진되면서 한국의 기록관리제도는 비약적으로 발전하였다. 2005년 이후 기록관리 프로세스와 시스템의 정비, 기록관리 표준의 제정, 법과 제도의 정비, 기록물관리 전문요원의 배치 등이 이루어지면서 한국의 기록관리는 한 단계 진전되게 되었다.

조선시대 여자복식 감정을 위한 각 시대별 특징 연구 - 15세기-18세기 출토복식을 중심으로 - (Study on the Characteristics of Each Period to Identify the Women's Costume of the Joseon Dynasty. - Based on the Excavated Costumes from $15^{th}$ to $18^{th}$ Century -)

  • The Purpose of this article is to study the excavated women's costume of the Joseon Dynasty, and to help identify the period of those costumes with the time of the burial unknown. The excavated women's costume is concentrated in 16th to 17th century, and the reason is due to the method of the burial. The characteristics of costumes from each period is as follows. The special features about 15th century costumes are the women's Dan-ryeong(round-collared jacket), Dae-gum style shirt(shirt with the squared collar facing each other), and skirt with horizontal dart. The 16th century costumes are the women's Dan-ryeong, wide Jegori with various length, skirt with horizontal dart, skirt with its hem folded, and pants with shoulder strap. In the 17th century, the formal dress changes to Won-sam from Dan-ryeong. The collar changes from the squared shape to the cut Dang-ko collar, and the skirt with its hem folded is not seen after the early 17th century. The long jacket changes to Dang-ui and gets settled, and the clothes becomes smaller and tighter. In the 18th century, the women's formal dress gets settled to Won-sam and Dang-ui, and the pants with shoulder strap is no longer seen. Jegori becomes shorter and smaller compared to those from the 17th century, and again gets wider and bigger in the late 18th century, and it leads to the change of making a big sized shroud.

농학서를 통해 본 조선후기 남염법의 변천 (The Transition of the Indigo Dyeing Method Identified through the Agricultural Archives in the Latter Joseon Dynasty)

  • This study was attempted to examine the indigo dyeing technique in the latter Joseon Dynasty, and to find diachronic specifics in the indigo dyeing method from 17C to 19C. The results are as follows: First, There were 2 kinds of indigo species-Yoram(Polygonum tinctorium Lour.) and Sungram(Isatis tinctoria L.)-in the latter Joseon Dynasty. Dangram was preferred in particular among Yoram species because of its high dyeing efficiency. Sungram was mainly used for making Jeon(indigo sediment). Second, Yoram cultivation took the following order: Sowing in April${\rightarrow}$planting out in June${\rightarrow}$harvesting leaves in August${\rightarrow}$collecting seeds in September. Sungram had more harvesting times and wider harvesting period than Yoram. Third, all indigo dyeing methods were grouped into two categories, one was temporary dyeing method, the other was permanent dyeing method. Mixture dyeing of the boiled and the raw, raw leaves dyeing, and fermentation dyeing belonged to the temporary dyeing. Jeon dyeing and Gaeogi dyeing belonged to the permanent dyeing. Finally, diachronic specifics from 17C to 19C were as follows: Decline in the mixture dyeing of the boiled and the raw, development in the raw leaves dyeing, continuance of the fermentation dyeing, and naturalization of Jeon dyeing technique.

조선후기 산릉의 여성공간, 나인가가(內人假家)의 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Change of NaInGaGa(Female Space) at the Royal Tomb in the Late Joseon Dynasty)

  • On behalf of the royal women, SangGung(尙宮:The head of female servants in the palace) and NaIns(內人: Female servants caring for royal families in the palace) were dispatched in order to attend a funeral at the royal tomb. The NaInGaGa(內人假家) is the temporary building for SangGung and NaIns in the royal tomb. It is comprised of lodgings for them and also workrooms and warehouses to prepare ritual offering for the dead King or Queen. In the early Joseon dynasty, the NaInGaGa was utilized until a funeral at the royal tomb. Since 1674, NaInGaGa for the 3 years-period lamentation was started constructing separately. At these processes, the plan and placement of NaInGaGa was changed. This study based on the SanReungDoGam-EuiGwae (山陵都監-儀軌: The report on constructing royal tomb). The SanReungDoGam-EuiGwae written since 1800 have illustration about NaInGaGa. The illustration and explanation about NaInGaGa become a important clue that make suppose detailed space of NaInGaGa.

조선시대[朝鮮時代] 말군의 실물 제작법에 관한 연구 (Study on Manufacturing Actual Mal-gun from Joseon Dynasty -Based on the Excavated Mal-gun from Seok-nam-dong, In-chceon-)

  • In 2004, Mal-gun(抹裙) was excavated from a plastered tomb in Seok-nam-dong, In-cheon. This tomb is assumed to be from an upper-class woman. The excavated Mal-gun was used to fill in the empty spaces in coffin, and it was seriously damaged and foxed dark. The Mal-gun is made with thin, loose Sook-cho(숙초), and the width of the fabric is 70cm. Both sides of the crotches are overlapped in front, and the back is opened. The waist straps are detached, leaving a little part to show the width of the straps. The hems of the Mal-gun are sewed straight, without any pleats, except some spaces for the feet to go through. This study compared the Mal-gun of Joseon Dynasty from the documentary records and picture records with the excavated Mal-gun from Seok-nam-dong, In-chceon. Also, actual Mal-gun was manufactured according to the excavated Mal-gun to study the process of manufacturing and the formation. As a result, the excavated Mal-gun has the same form of that shown in Ak-hak-gwae-bum, a documentary record from the early period of Joseon Dynasty.

조선 인목왕후의 진료 기록 연구 - 『조선왕조실록』과 『승정원일기』를 중심으로 - (A Study on Clinical Records of Queen Inmok)

  • In this paper, the clinical records of Queen Inmok has been studied and the impact of historical events on her life has been analyzed. This paper has extracted her medical records during King Seonjo's and King Injo's period from the Annals and the Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty, and then contemplated their medical implications consulting Donguibogam as a primary reference. Queen Inmok had been yang deficiency after national mourning. But suffering a series of misfortunes, she was ill with fire-heat (火熱) syndrome and finally passed away suffering from high fever, frequent diarrhea and profuse sweating. At that time, practitioners abused cold therapy following Jin Yuan Sia Jia (金元四大家), so they missed Queen Inmok's yang deficiency.

15~17세기 초, 난간석만 갖춘 조선왕릉의 등장과 구조적 특징 (The Study on the Structural Characteristics for the Royal Tomb of the Joseon Dynasty from the 15th Century to the early 17th Century - Focusing on the Bongneung Equipped with only Rail Stones -)

  • This study examined the structural characteristics of the royal tomb equipped with only rail stones in the early Joseon Dynasty. Bongneung(封陵: the burial mound of royal tomb) equipped with only rail stones was constructed from 1468 to 1632. During this period, Hyeongung(玄宮: the underground chamber for the coffin of the king or queen) was constructed with lime. When the Hyeongung is completed, the soil is covered with a thickness of 1 foot parallel to the ground surface. On top of that, as the base of the Bongneung, the rail ground stone is constructed with a height of about 1.5 to 2 feet. The inside of the rail ground stone is also firmly filled with soil. On top of this, semicircular lime is installed with a convex center. Lastly the soil is divided and compacted several times to form a hill, and then covered with grass to complete the Bongneung. The notable feature is that between the Hyeongung made of lime and the Bongneung made of soil, the rail ground stone serves as a stylobate with the inside compacted by the soil.
