In this paper, we study the joint radio and computational resource allocation in the ultra-dense mobile-edge computing networks. In which, the scenario which including both computation offloading and communication service is discussed. That is, some mobile users ask for computation offloading, while the others ask for communication with the minimum communication rate requirements. We formulate the problem as a joint channel assignment, power control and computational resource allocation to minimize the offloading cost of computing offloading, with the precondition that the transmission rate of communication nodes are satisfied. Since the formulated problem is a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP), which is NP-hard. By leveraging the particular mathematical structure of the problem, i.e., the computational resource allocation variable is independent with other variables in the objective function and constraints, and then the original problem is decomposed into a computational resource allocation subproblem and a joint channel assignment and power allocation subproblem. Since the former is a convex programming, the KKT (Karush-Kuhn-Tucker) conditions can be used to find the closed optimal solution. For the latter, which is still NP-hard, is further decomposed into two subproblems, i.e., the power allocation and the channel assignment, to optimize alternatively. Finally, two heuristic algorithms are proposed, i.e., the Co-channel Equal Power allocation algorithm (CEP) and the Enhanced CEP (ECEP) algorithm to obtain the suboptimal solutions. Numerical results are presented at last to verify the performance of the proposed algorithms.
This study which was conducted on male tennis player on one hand(OH) & two hand(TH) backhand stroke and how both motion differed on low extremity movement with each feature analyzed in detail, the result as follow. The motion of TH based on resultant velocity, appeared to be a higher than OH, which was important variable in determining the ball speed. Contrary to TH where the player minimized the motion in the lower body and finalized a stroke through the turn of the trunk as if sticking the ball closed to the body, OH was carried out such that the player appeared to chase the ball. Whereas in OH, the knee joint extension moment was not found to be larger than TH, the opposite result came out for abduction moment and internal rotation moment. In the case of hip joint, consisted of extension, abduction and internal rotation moment, the outcome emerged to be greater for TH with conspicuous difference in abduction moment. Flection moment for TH overwhelmed in TH though both adduction and external rotation moment brought about similar outcome for both strokes.
The purpose of the current study is to improve the clinching joint strength of aluminum and fiber metal laminates (FMLs) comprised of three layers. The joining of FML and Al 5052 by a conventional clinching joint has some disadvantages such as necking of the upper sheet, lack of interlocking, defects caused by the vertical load, and especially loss of strength of the composite material due to the low ductility. In the current study, a tapered-hole clinching method is proposed as an alternative for the joining of Al 5052 and FMLs. A hole with a tapered shape is formed before the joining process. The design parameters were evaluated using the Taguchi method for the geometry of the tapered hole in order to determine the maximum separation load. The diameter of the punch corner, clearance, punch stroke and the tapered length were used as the main variables in the Taguchi method. In conclusion, the contribution ratio for each of the fours variable examined was 35.07%, 22.44%, 21.32% and 14.11%, respectively. In addition, the appropriate combination of the design parameters can make a 5% improvement in the vertical direction joint strength.

The purpose of this study is to identify the level of masseter muscle tension according to the levels of restricted movement and pain in the temporomandibular joint(TMJ), thereby verifying the fact that excessive masseter muscle tension can be a cause for restricted movement and pain in the TMJ. The subjects of this study were 81 men and women in their 20s and 30s, who feel uncomfortable with their masticatory function on the preferred chewing side. The subjects were measured in terms of the range of motion (ROM) and deviation of the TMJ and the degree of pain in the affected region. The ROM and deviation of the TMJ were measured using the Global Posture System(GPS) after instructing each subject to open his/her mouth to the fullest and taking photos of the subject with a digital camera. The tension of the masseter muscle was measured with a Pressure Threshold Meter(PTM). After the measurements, in order to compare the ROM of the TMJ, the subjects were divided into two groups based on the ROM of above 35mm and below 35mm. For the deviation and pain, based on the average of total subjects, the subjects were divided into two groups of above and below average. Thereafter, the levels of masseter muscle tension were compared between each pair of groups. According to the results, when each variable was compared between the respective two groups, in terms of the deviation, the pressure pain threshold(PPT) of the masseter muscle revealed a statistically significant difference(p<.05). However, the ROM and pain showed no statistically significant difference. Consequently, masseter muscle tension may cause restricted movement in the TMJ. In particular, the deviation and tension in the masseter muscle is considered to be a factor that causes deviation in the TMJ.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of IASTM and static stretching techniques on ankle joint range of motion (ROM), static foot pressure. Methods: Twenty four subjects with gastrocnemius shortness participated in this study. The subjects were assigned randomly to one of two groups: The soft tissue mobilization technique (IASTM) group received intervention using a IASTM instrument for two minutes, and the stactic stretching group performed self stretching for 30 seconds, four times. The ROM of the ankle joint was measured by active ankle dorsi-flexion test, and a TPScan was utilized to collect the plantar foot pressure. This experiment was performed by two physical therapists. The significant level was set at ${\alpha}=.05$. Results: The results were as follows: 1) The ROM of the ankle joint and was significantly increased in both groups. 2) Plantar foot pressure was no significant in both groups. 3) There were no significant differences between the IASTM group and static stretching group for any variable. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that static stretching is an effective and easy technique for restoring proper muscle length in subjects with gastrocnemius shortness. We recommend that static stretching technique be used for treat gastrocnemius shortness in clinical setting and home program.

Passive control may not provide enough damping for a stay cable since the control devices are often restricted to a low location level. In order to enhance control performance of conventional passive dampers, a new type of damper integrated with a rotary electromagnetic damper providing variable damping force and a flywheel serving as an inertial mass, called the rotary electromagnetic inertial mass damper (REIMD), is presented for suppressing the cable vibrations in this paper. The mechanical model of the REIMD is theoretically derived according to generation mechanisms of the damping force and the inertial force, and further validated by performance tests. General dynamic characteristics of an idealized taut cable with a REIMD installed close to the cable end are theoretically investigated, and parametric analysis are then conducted to investigate the effects of inertial mass and damping coefficient on vibration control performance. Finally, vibration control tests on a scaled cable model with a REIMD are performed to further verify mitigation performance through the first two modal additional damping ratios of the cable. Both the theoretical and experimental results show that control performance of the cable with the REIMD are much better than those of conventional passive viscous dampers, which mainly attributes to the increment of the damper displacement due to the inertial mass induced negative stiffness effects of the REIMD. Moreover, it is concluded that both inertial mass and damping coefficient of an optimum REIMD will decrease with the increase of the mode order of the cable, and oversize inertial mass may lead to negative effect on the control performance.

Purpose : Several studies have investigated the effects of dynamic stretching (DS) and self-mobilization (SM), however, studies comparing the two interventions are rare. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the effects of DS and SM on ankle strength, dorsiflexion range of motion (DFROM), and balance to determine which is superior. Methods : Thirty-two healthy young adults participated in this study. Participants were randomly assigned to two groups (SM and DS). DS was performed for the purpose of stretching the medial gastrocnemius muscle. For the SM group, ankle joint SM was performed in three ways. For all participants, the following measurements were performed as pre- and post-tests: isometric strength of dorsiflexor and plantar flexor, weight-bearing lunge test (WBLT) to evaluate DFROM, Tetrax system to evaluate static balance, and y balance test (YBT) to evaluate dynamic balance. Differences before and after the intervention within each group were compared using paired t-test. Also, the variable's variation was compared between groups using an independent t-test. Results : Significant differences were found in ankle dorsiflexor strength, WBLT, YBT, weight distribution index (WDI) (pillow and opened eyes; PO), and stability index (ST) (normal and closed eyes; NC) before and after intervention in the SM group (p<.05). In the DS group, significant differences were found in ankle dorsiflexor and plantar flexor strength, WBLT, YBT anterior, WDI (normal and opened eyes; NO, PO), and ST (NO, NC, PO, pillow and closed eyes) before and after the intervention (p<.05). Ankle plantar flexor strength and WDI (PO) were significantly different between groups. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, DS or SM can be considered as a possibility for selective use according to variables for improving ankle joint function (DFROM, muscle strength, balance).
We proposed a technique for predicting Stress-Life (S-N) curve or fatigue life using geometric features of a ply-overlap joint structure in which plies of two composite materials are partially or wholly laminated and bonded. Geometric features that could affect fatigue properties of a structure were selected as variables. By analyzing relationships between geometric variables and material constants of the Epaarachchi-Clausen model, a fatigue model for composites, relational expressions of these two factors were proposed. To verify the prediction accuracy of the proposed method, fatigue life of a CFRP/GFRP ply-overlap joint was predicted. Predicted life and life obtained by test data-based model were compared to actual life. High prediction accuracy was confirmed by calculating the coefficient of determination of the predicted S-N curve.

The single lap joint is the most studied joint in the literature in terms of both theory and practice. It is easy to manufacture and the lap shear strength is a useful value for strength assessment and quality control. Simple design rules exist such as the one present in standard ASTM 1002 or in a recent paper by Adams and Davies. The main factors that have an influence on the lap shear strength are the type of adhesive, i.e. ductile or brittle, the adherend yield strength and the overlap length. The overlap increases the shear strength almost linearly if the adhesive is sufficiently ductile and the adherend does not yield. For substrates that yield, a plateau is reached for a certain value of overlap corresponding to the yielding of the adherend. For intermediate or brittle adhesives, the analysis is more complex and needs further investigation. In order to quantify the influence of the adhesive, the adherend and the overlap on the lap shear strength, the experimental design technique of Taguchi was used. An experimental matrix of 27 tests was designed and each test was repeated three times. The influence of each variable could be assessed as well as the interactions between them using the statistical software Statview. The results show that the most important variable on the lap shear strength is the overlap length followed by the type of adherend.

This paper proposed a fast algorithm to reduce the amount of calculation for inter prediction which takes a great deal of the operational time in H.264/AVC. This algorithm decides a search range according to the direction of predicted motion vector, and then performs an adaptive spiral search for the candidates with JM(Joint Model) FME(Fast Motion Estimation) which employs the rate-distortion optimization(RDO) method. Simultaneously, it decides a threshold cost value for each of the variable block sizes and performs the motion estimation for the variable search ranges with the threshold. These activities reduce the great amount of the complexity in inter prediction encoding. Experimental results by applying the proposed method .to various video sequences showed that the process time was decreased up to 80% comparing to the previous prediction methods. The degradation of video quality was only from 0.05dB to 0.19dB and the compression ratio decreased as small as 0.58% in average. Therefore, we are sure that the proposed method is an efficient method for the fast inter prediction.
