  • In this paper, a method for estimation of external force on an end-effector using joint torque sensor is proposed. The method is based on portion of measure torque caused by external force. Due to noise in the torque measurement data from the torque sensor, a recursive least-square estimation algorithm is used to ensure a smoother estimation of the external force data. However it is inevitable to create a delay for the sensor to detect the external force. In order to reduce the delay, modified recursive least-square is proposed. The performance of the proposed estimation method is evaluated in an experiment on a developed six-degree-of-freedom robot. By using NI DAQ device and Labview, the robot control, data acquisition and The experimental results output are processed in real time. By using proposed modified RLS, the delay to estimate the external force with the RLS is reduced by 54.9%. As an experimental result, the difference of the actual external force and the estimated external force is 4.11% with an included angle of $5.04^{\circ}$ while in dynamic state. This result shows that this method allows joint torque sensors to be used instead of commonly used external sensory system such as F/T sensors.

  • In assessing risks related to working posture, pictures of postures are taken from various directions, which can be a source of observation error. Joint postures of the neck, lower back, knee, shoulder, and elbow were taken from 7 different viewing angles and 19 observers estimated joint angles by observing the pictures in 2-dimensional display. The joint angles were also measured using an optoelectronic motion measurement system. The estimation error increased as the viewing angle varies from the right side of the human body, but the patterns differ according to which joint angles were being observed. Guidelines to increase the validity of observation of joint angles were presented based on the results. In general, it is recommended to maintain the viewing angle within 20 degrees from the right side of the human body, while different ranges of viewing angle are recommended for each joint angle.

  • The modelling techniques of a center pillar-to-roof rail joint for low frequency vibration analysis are examined and some fundamental problems are addressed. To develop a simplified beam-spring model of the joint, the present work is focused on 1) practical shell modelling techniques and 2) joint spring stiffness estimation methods a practical model-updating method to match the calculated natural frequencies to the experimentally determine ones is proposed, particularly focusing on spot welding modelling. In joint spring modelling, the results from the model with one joint spring are compared with those from the model with three coupled springs. Finally, some fundamental problems in beam-spring modelling are addressed.

  • A variable release torque-based compliance spring-clutch (VCSC) is presented. VCSC is a safe joint to reduce the impact of collisions between humans and robots. It is composed of four functional plates, balls, springs to make some functions in compliant movement, release mechanism, gravity compensation during its work. Also, it can estimate torque applied to a joint by using distance sensor and parameters of cam profile. The measured variable torque of prototype is 4.3~7.6 Nm and release torque is 4.3 Nm. In our future studies, a calibration for torque estimation will be conducted.

  • A large Pc structure building is system that consisted of bearing wall and slab joint. It has general structure stability from unity thar each members tied at joint. The strength of mortar that packing in joint among panels is important to internal force in entire building system. Do, if we could get early strength estimation with microwave. It would bring good construction planning, reduce construction time, and judge building stability and so on. The purpose of this study is to develop early estimation method for making better quality control and constructing good PC panel structure. The results of this study were as follows :1) With sealed molds, reduced moisture volatilization to more than 60% and enlarged 30% accelerated compressive strength than before one. 2) To get more accelerated strength, we should control maximum temperature difference to $30^{\circ}C$ downward 3)Interrelation with 7-day and 28-day strength were 0.831,0.902, and it is above than before one

  • Frequency-modulated continuous wave(FMCW) radars with array antennas are widely used because of their light weight and relatively high resolution. A usual approach for the joint range and angle estimation of a target using an array FMCW radar is to create a range-angle matrix with the deramped received signal, and subsequently apply two-dimensional(2D) frequency estimation methods such as 2D fast Fourier transform on the range-angle matrix. However, such frequency estimation approaches cause bias errors since the frequencies in the range-angle matrix are not independent. Therefore, we propose a new maximum likelihood-based algorithm for joint range and angle estimation of targets using array FMCW radar, and demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves the Cram?r-Rao bounds, both for range as well as angle estimation.

  • A joint channel estimation and data detection technique for a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) wireless communication system is proposed. It combines the least square (LS) training based channel estimation (TBCE) scheme with sphere decoding. In this new approach, channel estimation is enhanced with the help of blind symbols, which are selected based on their correctness. The correctness is determined via sphere decoding. The performance of the new scheme is studied through simulation in terms of the bit error rate (BER). The results show that the proposed channel estimation has comparable performance and better computational complexity over the existing semi-blind channel estimation (SBCE) method.

  • A joint blind parameter estimation algorithm based on minimum channel stability function aimed at the non-cooperative high-order modulated paired carrier multiple access (PCMA) signals is proposed. The method, which uses hierarchical search to estimate time delay, amplitude and frequency offset and the estimation of phase offset, including finite ambiguity, is presented simultaneously based on the derivation of the channel stability function. In this work, the structure of hierarchical iterative processing is used to enhance the performance of the algorithm, and the improved algorithm is used to reduce complexity. Compared with existing data-aided algorithms, this algorithm does not require a priori information. Therefore, it has significant advantage in solving the problem of blind parameter estimation of non-cooperative high-order modulated PCMA signals. Simulation results show the performance of the proposed algorithm is similar to the modified Cramer-Rao bound (MCRB) when the signal-to-noise ratio is larger than 16 dB. The simulation results also verify the practicality of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, joint methods of cell searching and Direction-of-Arrival (DoA) estimation for a mobile relay station with a uniform circular array are proposed. The proposed joint estimation method for the mobile relay station is robust even when there exist symbol timing offsets between the signals received from adjacent base stations. Also, the proposed joint estimation method can reduce computational complexity and processing time, compared with the case where cell searching and DoA estimation are performed separately. Performances of the proposed method are evaluated by computer simulation under Mobile WiMAX environment.

  • S${\"{a}}$rndal (1996) and Knottnerus (2003) had a critical look at the well known variance estimator of Sen (1953) and Yates and Grundy (1953) in probability proportional to size sampling. In this paper, we point out that although their approaches can avoid the difficulties in variance estimation with respect to the joint probabilities, there exist the disadvantages in practice. Also, we describe a sampling procedure available in statistical software that are useful for the variance estimation.
