This paper focus on investigating the influence of the amount of water ingestion and the engine speed on the joint reaction force of the connecting rod in engine. The connecting rod was modelled by MSC/PATRAN, the modal informations of it were obtained by the DMAP module in the MSC/NASTRAN, and the dynamic force history was computed through the flexible multibody dynamic simulation in DADS. To analyze the joint reaction force acting on the connecting rod, the 48 cases were investigated. The engine speed varies with 200, 700, 1600, 2400rpm and the volumetric ratio of water to the combustion chamber varies with 0, 10, 20, ..., 90, 95 and 97.5% . As the engine speed decreases and the amount of water ingestion increases, the joint reaction force increase. Especially when the amount of water ingestion exceeds the 70% of the volume of the combution chamber, the joint reaction force acting on the connecting rod is over the design strength.
Most partial hand amputees experience limited wrist movement, which hinders the efficient functioning of upper limb, affecting hand-to-use coordination and the usability of the prosthetic hand. This limitation can lead to secondary musculoskeletal issues due to repetitive compensatory movement patterns. However, current partial hand prosthetic lack rotational wrist movement due to challenges in accommodating various hand shapes and limited space. In our study, we proposed a prosthetic hand with a wrist rotation module for partial hand amputees, aiming to reduce compensatory movement. To validate the proposed wrist rotation module, we conducted motion analysis during reach-to-grasp task. Furthermore, during the Jebsen-Taylor hand function test, we evaluated both the effect on upper limb movement and the usability of the prosthetic hand, comparing configurations with and without the wrist rotation module. The results showed that the prosthetic hand equipped with rotational wrist movements reduces compensatory movements and promotes efficient upper limb movement patterns. This finding highlights the value of incorporating a wrist rotation module in prosthetic hands to improve upper limb movement for partial hand amputees.
A tensegrity module structure is suitable type for spatial structures. Because the tensegrity is composed of set of discontinuous compressive elements (struts) floating within a net of continuous tensile elements (cables), the system can provide the basis for lightweight and strong. However, despite the advantages of tensegrities, design and fabrication of the systems have difficulty because of form-finding methods, pin-connection and the control of prestress. In this paper, the new pin-connection method was invented to make the tensegrity module. The production process and practical implementation of uniformly compressed the tensegrity structures by using a UTM are described. Experiments showed the mechanical response and failure aspects of the tensegrity system.
There come various types of robot with researches for mobile robot. This paper introduces the multi-joint snake robot having 16 degree of freedom and composing of eight-axis. The biological snake robot uses the forward movement friction and the proposed artificial snake robot uses the un-powered wheel instead of the body of snake. To determine the enable joint angle of each joint, the controller inputs are considered such as color and distance using PC Camera and ultra-sonic sensor module, respectively. The movement method of snake robot is sequential moving from head to tail through body. The target for movement direction is decided by a certain article be displayed in the PC Camera. In moving toward that target, if there is any obstacle then the snake robot can avoid by itself. In this paper, we show the method of snake robot for tracing the target with experiment.
The robotic automation in NonDestructive Testing(NDT) is a promising field of research and it helps to expand the applications of NDT enormously. Especially, in the case of pipelines which are widely used in various industrial facilities, it is required to secure adequate ways of inspection in the usual maintenance activitites. In this paper, we present a robot system for inpipe inspection of underground urban gas pipelines. The robot is configured as an articulated structure like a snake with a tether cable. Two active driving vehicles are located in front and rear of the system, respectively and passive modules such as a NonDestructive Testing module and a control module are chained between the active vehicles. The proposed system has outstanding mobility by employing a new steering mechanism called Double Active Universal Joint, which makes it possible to cope with complicated configurations of underground pipelines. Characteristic features of the system are described and the construction of the system is briefly outlined.
A new spherical-type 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism consisting of a two degree-of-freedom parallel module and a serial module is proposed. Two alternative designs for the serial sub-chain are suggested and compared. The first design employs RU joint arrangement for the serial sub chain structure. The second design incorporates a gear chain to drive the distal revolute joint of the serial sub-chain from the base platform of the mechanism. This modification significantly improves kinematic characteristics of the mechanism within its workspace. Firstly, the closed-form solutions of both the forward and the reverse position analysis are derived. Secondly, the first-order kinematic model with respect to three inputs which are located at the base is derived. Thirdly, it is confirmed through simulation that the modified mechanism has much more improved isotropic characteristic throughout the workspace of the mechanism. Lastly, the proposed mechanism is implemented to verify the results from this analysis.
The low electric power and high efficiency chips are required because of the appearance of smart phones. Also, high-capacity memory chips are needed. e-MMC(embedded Multi-Media Card) for this is defined by JEDEC(Joint Electron Device Engineering Council). The e-MMC memory for research and development is a memory mulit-chip module of 64GB using 16-multilayers of 4GB NAND-flash memory. And it has simplified the chip by using SIP technique. But mulit-chip module generates high heat by higher integration. According to the result of study, whenever semiconductor chip is about 10 $^{\circ}C$ higher than the design temperature it makes the life of the chip shorten more than 50%. Therefore, it is required that we solve the problem of heating value and make the efficiency of e-MMC improved. In this study, geometry of 16-multilayered structure is compared the temperature distribution of four different geometries along the numerical analysis. As a result, it is con finned that a multilayer structure of stair type is more efficient than a multilayer structure of vertical type because a multi-layer structure of stair type is about 9 $^{\circ}C$ lower than a multilayer structure of vertical type.

The behaviour of the fission gas plays an important role in the fuel rod performance. In a previous work, we presented a physics-based model describing intra- and inter-granular behaviour of radioactive fission gas. The model was implemented in SCIANTIX, a mesoscale module for fission gas behaviour, and assessed against the CONTACT 1 irradiation experiment. In this work, we present the multi-scale coupling between the TRANSURANUS fuel performance code and SCIANTIX, used as mechanistic module for stable and radioactive fission gas behaviour. We exploit the coupled code version to reproduce two integral irradiation experiments involving standard fuel rod segments in steady-state operation (CONTACT 1) and during successive power transients (HATAC C2). The simulation results demonstrate the predictive capabilities of the code coupling and contribute to the integral validation of the models implemented in SCIANTIX.
In long-haul high speed optical communications, the distance between a transmitter and a receiver depends on the amount of light coupled to a single mode optical fiber from the laser diode(LD) as well as the LD characteristic itself. And the transmitter module must have long lifetime. high reliability, and even simple structure. Such points have induced laser welding technique to be a first choice in opto-electronic module packaging because it can provide strong weld joint in a short time with very small coupling loss. In this paper, packaging considerations and characteristics for high speed LD modules are discussed. They include optical path design factors for larger aligning tolerance, and novel laser welding processes for component assembly. For low coupling loss after laser welding processes, the optical path for optimum coupling of a single mode optical fiber into the LD chip was designed with the GRIN lens system providing sufficiently large aligning tolerance both in the radial and axial directions. The measured sensitivity of the LD module was better than -33.7dBm(back to back) at a BER of $10^{-10}$ with a 2.5Gbps NRZ $2^{23}-1$ PRBS.
In this paper, the noise of HEV(hybrid electric vehicle)-relay module during the turn-on and turnoff switching is experimentally analyzed and an effective method is proposed to reduce the impact noise. First, enclosure methods of 100A relay part with urethane and silicon are tested to find out a better material to isolate the noise. This result shows that the urethane is a better for the noise isolation of relay, so the relays enclosed by urethane are installed in the relay module. Second, the noise of HEV-relay module is analyzed experimentally to identify the noise generation mechanism. From this result, it is found that the vibration transmitted to battery pack through bolt generates the structural borne noise with the frequency band of 200~2000 Hz, which is more serious when the switch is turned off. Finally, the direction of switching and the joint structure are modified in order to isolate the vibration transmitted to battery back. Both methods are very effective to reduce the switching noise.
