Recruiting and maintaining capable physical therapists in hospitals is crucial to provide patients with better quality's physical therapy and to achieve hospital business objectives. This study is to provide basic data for effective personnel management of physical therapists in the hospital. For this, this study was conducted to confirm the relationship between turnover intention and job characteristics(task importance, job autonomy, job feedback, task identity, skill diversity), and to find out factors affecting the turnover intention of hospital physical therapists in Korea. The sample used in this study consisted of 173 physical therapists who were working in hospitals located in Seoul from June 18 to 29. The data for analysis were collected by questionnaire survey. The dependent variable of this study was turnover intention and the independent variables were job characteristics(task importance, job autonomy, job feedback, task identity, skill diversity), demographic characteristics of respondents(sex, age, education level, marital status, working hospital, working career). The major statistical methods used for the analysis were factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Turnover intention according to demographic characteristics of respondents was significantly high in the graduate school above group. As the result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis of turnover intention, R2 of job characteristics was much more powerful than demographic characteristics. The factors had significant negative effect on turnover intention were job autonomy, task identity, and skill diversity. And in demographic characteristics factors, there were not significant factors on turnover intention. In considering above findings, for decreasing turnover intention of physical therapists, hospitals need to develop strategies for enhancing job satisfaction by improving job autonomy, task identity, and skill diversity from the adequate job environment.
This study aims to understand potential gender differences in the association between job characteristics and job satisfaction among older workers. The data are from 506 males and 202 females older than 55 from the first wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA). Analyses focused on examining gender differences in the influences of subjective evaluation of work characteristics measured with education and skill fits of the work, work demands, customary early retirement, as well as more objective job conditions assessed with insurances by the employer, work hours, and salary on job satisfaction. Regression analyses revealed that female workers showed higher job satisfaction while job characteristics worked differently between genders to affect job satisfaction. For males, fitting the job with education and job demands were determining factors of job satisfaction, while the job with skills and work hours appeared to be significant factors for females. Results suggest that opportunities to utilize older workers' human capital and flexible working hours, especially for females workers would be helpful in promoting older adults' employment and satisfaction about their work.
The objective of this study is to verify effects of employees' cognition of their job characteristics in production department of manufacturing companies on production performance and also to verify the moderating effect of the characteristics of managerial accounting information in the relationship between job characteristics and productivity. To achieve this purpose, this study divides the factors of job characteristics into task diversity, task significance, autonomy, and task identity and production performance into flexibility, time, and quality. The results of this study are as follows. First, There is a significant relationship between job characteristics and production performance according to employees' cognition of their job characteristics. Second, There is a significant relationship between job characteristics and production performance according to the characteristics of managerial accounting information.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between job characteristics and creativity. The role of transformational leadership is also examined. To identify the relationship between core team job characteristics and transformational leadership, an empirical survey was conducted through surveys of domestic distribution companies. Among the collected questionnaires, missing and insincere responses were excluded and 636 individuals of 107 teams were used for the SPSS 18 analysis. It was found that job meaningfulness was positively related to team creativity and transformational leadership also had a significant effect. Task feedback was shown to be an important factor on the motivation to perform tasks successfully. In the case of transformational leadership, this leadership style helped individuals overcome fear by providing support, sympathy, and consideration to create novel ideas. But, its effects were different on team creativity when it interacted with core job characteristics. Departments where creativity is highly emphasized within an organization are able to design job characteristics which fit the task at hand. Moreover, transformational leadership brings about different effects on team creativity when it interacts with job characteristics. The findings of this study suggest that organizations should consider characteristics of tasks and individuals as well when conducting education and training.

Job characteristics and organizational justice were hypothesized to be positively related to job satisfaction. To examine the influence of job characteristics and organizational justice on job satisfactions, data were collected from 320 employees of the small- and medium- sized manufacturing companies in Namdong und Banwool Area. This research took independent variables as the core job characteristics of the job characteristic theory such as skill variety, job stagnation, job importance, autonomy, feed back, and organizational justice as distributive and procedural justice. As a result, I can make the following suggestions. First, The Results show that job characteristics and organizational justice were significant and important predictors of job satisfaction. Secondarily, to raise the job desire of organizational members, job must be designed in such a way that the members can highly recognize their job characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of empowerment on the relation between job characteristics and creativity. This study also examines the relationship job characteristics and creativity. As a result of this study, job characteristics had positive influence on empowerment. Empowerment had positive influence on creativity. Also job characteristics had positive effect on creativity at first, but it did not have a direct effect on creativity when empowerment was considered. These mean that empowerment is complete mediation variable because job characteristics no longer affects creativity after empowerment has been considered. Several implications, limitations and directions for future research were discussed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to confirm the change of nursing organizational characteristics and to define the difference of organizational outcome by measuring the organizational commitment and job satisfaction perceived by nursing staffs and patient satisfaction before and after organizational redesign. Method: The structured questionnaires of which contained organizational characteristics, organizational commitment and job satisfaction were developed from previous published studies after modification by researcher. The questionnaires were distributed to 1,200 and 679 nurses before and after nursing organizational change. patient satisfaction were measured before and after organizational change by direct interview with structured questionnaire from 1,566 and 1,291 patients. Results: 1. The organizational characteristics were significantly increased and the leadership of team leader and head nurse was significantly increased among the factors of organizational characteristics. 2. Organizational commitment was showed decreased tendency, but the difference was not significant. Job satisfaction was increased significantly and administration, autonomy, and job tasks were increased significantly in the factors of job satisfaction. Patient satisfaction was also increased significantly. 3. There was significant positive correlation between organizational commitment and job satisfaction and also job satisfaction and nursing organizational characteristics. All factors of organizational characteristics and satisfaction in present working unit were major factors to influence organizational commitment and explained 43.8% in a significant level by multiple regression analysis. The major factor which affect job satisfaction were the factors of nursing organizational characteristic except 'interaction with team leader' and satisfaction in present working unit among general characteristics and these factors explained 58.8% of job satisfaction. Conclusion: In conclusion, the nursing organizational change was very effective to bring about desirable change in nursing organizational characteristics and also to improve job satisfaction and patient satisfaction. Therefore the nursing productivity and comparability would be increased when the nursing organizational change is accomplished by the way of improving the factors of organizational characteristics and it would be followed by the promotion of job satisfaction and organizational commitment.

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the nursing organizational characteristics and job satisfaction. Subjects were 362 nurses at a general hospital in Seoul. Data were collected from November 1, 1999 to November 31, 1999 with the structured questionnaires and analyzed by $SPSS-PC^+$ 8.0 for descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The results were as follows; 1. The average score of the nursing organizational characteristics was 3.7. The score of head nurse's leadership was highest and supervisor's was lowest. The average score of the job satisfaction was 3.1 and was similar to the results of other studies. 2. Being regarded to the nursing organizational characteristics and job satisfaction by general demographic variables, The head nurse's leadership, the supervisor's leadership and interaction, and the overall nursing organizational characteristics showed significant differences by year of career, position status, and service-department(p<.1, p<.05). The job satisfaction showed significant difference by position status(p<.01). 3. There were correlations between the nursing organizational characteristics and job satisfaction(r=0.358-0.815). 4. The most important variable in the job satisfaction was 'organizational climate' and it was explained 32.0% out of the total variance of job satisfaction and 'all of nursing organizational characteristic factors' explained 47.5%. According to the results of this study, the suggestions were as follow: 1. To improve nurses' job satisfaction, the strategy for the development of the cooperative nursing organizational climate and for the strengthening of 'the nursing manager's leadership and interaction' in the nursing department are necessary. It should to be considered the differences in the nursing organizational characteristics and job satisfaction by nursing manager and staff nurses. 2. Further study needed to analysis the organizational climate for the management of the nursing organization. Also it is necessary for further investigation regarding to the relationship between the nursing organizational characteristics and job satisfaction of pre and post-organizational change.
In order to investigate the complaint rates of subjective fatigue symptoms and the degree of job-satisfaction among dental hygienists based on their socio-demographic and job characteristics and to find out the factors related with subjective fatigue symptoms and job satisfaction. The study subjects were recruited from 274 dental hygienists who worked at dental hospitals and clinics in Daejon city and South Chungcheong Province during the period between Jan. 5 and Feb. 11, 2008. They were asked to complete the self-administered questionnaires asking about their socio-demographic characteristics. job characteristics. daily life styles, job satisfaction and subjective fatigue symptoms, and the major finding of the results were as follows : 1. The mean scores of job satisfaction were 3.12V0.47 of the total full scores(5.00). and the highest scores were in the sub-domain of interpersonal relationship. and the lowest scores were pay. The scores of job satisfaction by socio-demographic characteristics and daily life styles were not significantly differences, but in job characteristics, significantly increased with those feeling satisfied with their job. those with appropriate amount of duty amount, those free of jop autonomy, those feeling satisfied with their monthly income. satisfactory personal relations at work. 2. The mean scores of subjective fatigue symptoms were 27.6V10.9 of the total full scores(60.0), and the highest scores were in the sub-group of bodily projection of fatigue(Group III), and they were followed by difficulty in concentration(Group II). dullness and sleepness(Group I) in their decreasing order of magnitude. The scores of job satisfaction by socio-demographic characteristics and daily life styles were significantly increased with the group of lower age, the group of irregularly breakfast habit and the worse subjective health status. Based on job characteristics. the score of subjective fatigue symptoms were significantly increased with those group of lower clinical career and monthly income, those feeling unsatisfied with their job, those with inappropriate amount of duty amount. those satisfactory personal relations at work 3. The correlation of subjective fatigue symptoms with job satisfaction showed a negative correlation with rM-0.198(pM0.000), and job satisfaction were higher according to the lower subjective fatigue symptoms. The correlation among the scores of sub-domain of job satisfaction and the sub-group of subjective fatigue symptoms were significantly positive correlation. 4. The affecting factors of significance on job satisfaction included clinical career, duty amount salary satisfaction, with the explanatory power of 32.9%. Those on subjective fatigue symptoms included the eucation and the subjective health statuts, with the explanatory power of 20.8%. When considering these results, the job-satisfaction and the subjective fatigue symptoms were significantly correlated with the job related factors than factors of socio-demographic characteristics and daily life styles. In addition. if job environments of dental hygienist can improved. their job-satisfaction and subjective fatigue symptoms are suggested to be betters.
This study identified the relationships between the hospital’s organizational pattern for nursing, the organizational characteristics perceived by nurses and their job satisfaction. The study subjects were a convenience sample of 383 staff nurses working at 10 general hospitals with more than 300 beds in Seoul. Hospitals included in the study were classified Into five organizational patterns, where nursing was organized as an independent but lower level, attached to the medical department, attached to a department supporting medicine, and various other organizational pattern. The data were collected from July 10 to August 15, 1992. The organizational characteristics as perceived by the staff nurses were measured by Park & Yoon’s Scale (1986) and job satisfaction was measured by Slavitt’s Scale (1978). The data were analyzed by percentage distribution, Pearson’s correlation, x$^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, and ANCOVA The summarized results are as follows : 1. The proportion of independent and attached nursing organizational patterns was 35.1% and 54.9% respectively. 2. There were differences between four general characteristics of the nurses, age, experience, position and education level, and the five structural types of nursing organization(p〈.05). 3. 1) There were no relationship between the perceived organizational characteristics and general characteristics of the nurses but there was a differ once in job satisfaction according to education level of nurses in hopitals where nursing was an independent department(T=-2.24, p〈.05). 2) There were differences in the perceived organizational characteristics according to age group and experience of nurses (F=3.26, 5.41, p〈 , 05)and in job satisfaction according to the position of nurses in the independent but lower level organizational pattern (T=2.26, p〈.05). 3) There was a difference in the perceived organizational characteristics according to age group (F=3.19, p〈 .05) and in job satisfaction according to the experience of nurses where nursing was attached to the medical department (F=3.49, p〈.05). 4) There was a difference in the perceived organizational characteristics according to nursing unit (F=3.19, p〈 .05), but none between job satis-faction and general characteristics of nurses where nursing was attached to a departiment supporting medicine. 5) There were no relationships between the perceived organizational characteristics and job sat isfaction and general characteristics of nurses in the various other organizational patterns. 4. Nurses in hospitals where nursing is organizationed as an independent department perceived their organizatianal pattern more positively and had higher job satisfaction than nurses working in hospitals where nursing is part of another department. 5. There were differences between perceived organizational characteristics and job satisfaction according to the organizational patterns for nursing (F=13.52, 8.76, p=.0000). 6. There were correlations between the perceived organizational characteristics and job satisfaction of nurses working in two independent nursing departments (r=0.2180, 2351, p〈.05). In conclusion, the relationship between perceived organizational characteristics and job satisfaction was significantly correlated in the hospitals where the nursing department is independent. Perceived organizational characteristics and job satisfaction depended on whether the nursing department is independent from or attached to other departments in the hospital. For nurses job satisfaction the nursing department should be independent from other departments and at the highest level of organization in the hospital.
