Job search research has been criticized for failing to study the dynamics and change of the job search process. A lot of previous researches have used cross-sectional designs and treated job search as a static process. As a result, job search research has failed to examine how job seekers' behaviors change during the course of their search. This paper examined changes In job search behaviors(preparatory and active job search behavior, and job search intensity) and the effects of individual difference variables(self-esteem, self-efficacy, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness) on job search behaviors. Data were gathered from 404 university students who had not found employment at the time of beginning of second semester The results of t-test pairs indicated that job seeking students increased their preparatory job search behavior and active job search behavior, but didn't job search intensity. The results of multiple regression showed that self-efficacy had strong relationship with preparatory and active job search behavior, and job search intensity, but self-esteem had not any relationship with them. Among big-5 personality, extroversion had relationship with active job search behavior and job search intensity, and agreeableness only with job search intensity.
The objective of this study was to investigate mediation effect of appearance management behavior on the relationship between satisfaction of personal image and job search efficacy. Based on previous studies on components of personal image, appearance management behaviors, and job search efficacy, questionnaire items were developed. For this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey among 422 students from women's university in Seoul. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 23. Results are as follows. First, there were positive and moderate bivariate correlations among satisfaction of personal image, appearance management behavior, and job search efficacy. Second, satisfaction of personal image was found to have a partially significant effect on job search efficacy while satisfaction of internal image, visual image, and social image had a positive effect on job search skill. Satisfaction of internal image had a positive effect on job search strength. However, satisfaction of visual image or social image did not have a significant effect on job search strength. Third, fashion management behavior among components appearance management behavior could partially mediate the relationship between satisfaction of personal image and job search efficacy, indicating that satisfaction of internal image and visual image among components personal image not only has a direct effect on job search skill among job search efficacy, but also has an indirect effect on job search skill by affecting fashion management behavior. These results suggest that it is important to build personal image effectively and increase satisfaction with oneself through active appearance management behavior to improve job search efficacy.
This article examines the relationship of career indecision, job search behavior, and employment among college seniors based on sub-scales of career indecision (lack of career information, lack of self-clarity, decisiveness, lack of necessity recognition, external Barrier). This study explored the effect of career indecision, job search behavior, and employment successes(number of application, number of interview, number of job offer) in longitudinal method. In result, career indecision had negative effect on job search behavior. In other words, the higher career indecision level is, the less job search behavior is performed. Especially, career indecision is connected with preparatory job search behavior and informal job search behavior. Another finding is that job search behavior in time 1 (first semester of college senior) had a strong effect on all of employment success variables in time 2(second semester of college senior). Finally, the theoretical and practical implications of this research were discussed. Based on the limitation of this study, several directions for future research were also suggested.
This study investigates the effects of appearance management behaviors on job search efficacy among female college students. Based on previous studies on appearance management behaviors and job search efficacy, the questionnaire items were developed. For the study, we conducted a questionnaire survey among 312 students from women's university in Seoul. The statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 23. The results were as follows. First, three types of appearance management factors have been identified: 'fashion & hair,' 'skin care & plastic surgery,' and 'body shape'; the reliability and validity of these factors were proved. Second, the appearance management behavior of female college students found to have a partially significant effect on job search efficacy: fashion & hair factor had a positive effect on job search strength; fashion & hair factor and body shape factor had a positive effect on job search skills. While skin care & plastic surgery factor had a negative effect on job search strength and job search skill. Third, between academic years, there were differences in job search efficacy but not in appearance management behavior. By majors, there were differences among skin care & plastic surgery factor, body shape factor, and job search strength factor. These results suggest that to improve the job search efficacy, proper appearance management through fashion and hair, and body shape management is necessary. In addition, it suggests that it is important to improve the effectiveness of employment by establishing the appearance management strategy that matches the characteristics of each major.
This paper is meaningful in that it empirically studies the good job condition of which young people think and the impact of job search behavior on employment. In addition, employment status and additional job search performance were set as performance variables. The main research results of this study are as follows. First, as for the good job condition considered by young people, wages and salaries in terms of companies, job stability in terms of environment, and work-life balance in terms of individuals were found. Second, job search behavior was found to be a key variable influencing employment status and job search performance. Third, it was found that job-search stress injures employment. Finally, work experience promotes employment and job search performance. Therefore, to increase the employment success rate of young people, above all, various supports for increasing the frequency of young job seekers' active job search behavior are needed. To this end, it suggests that it is necessary to develop a customized youth policy service model and to provide systematic services to meet the needs of young people.

Although networking behavior is an effective job search method to students, far too little attention has been paid to mechanisms explaining the antecedents and networking behavior. The goal of this study was to demonstrate the effect of the HEXACO personality dimensions on graduated students' job search networking behavior through their network size. A survey of 773 participants was conducted to assess personality traits, network size, and networking behavior. All constructs in the study were measured by 5-point Likert scales. This study employed a structural equation model to examine the proposed conceptual model and the correlations among variables. Results showed that the personality of emotionality negatively influence students' network size, while extraversion and agreeableness are positively associated with the scope of their social network. Second, the findings confirmed that network size is directly related to the level of looking-for job behavior, particularly networking behavior. Finally, our results explored that network size played the mediating effect on how personality traits affect networking behavior. These findings suggest that network size is a dynamic mechanism that helps to understand the correlation between personality traits and job search networking behavior. The theoretical and practical implication of the study, as well as the future research direction were discussed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the educational service quality of lifelong education institutions on the job preparation behavior of adult learners, and to suggest important factors that enhance the job preparation behavior of adult learners and ways to contribute to the improvement of educational service quality. Methods: In this study, 260 adult learners using lifelong educational institutions located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do were statistically analyzed with SPSS 22.0 as a study sample. Results: First, lecturer expertise, educational environment, educational programs, and administrative services of instructors, which are sub-factors of educational service quality, were all adopted as positive (+) influences on educational satisfaction. Second, the lecturer expertise and educational programs were adopted due to the positive (+) effect on job search efficacy, but the educational environment and administrative services were rejected. Third, educational satisfaction was adopted as a positive (+) effect on job search efficacy. Fourth, educational satisfaction was adopted as a positive (+) effect on job preparation behavior. Fifth, job search efficacy was adopted as a positive effect on job preparation behavior. Conclusion: Based on the research results, it suggests that educational satisfaction and job search efficacy are important variables for adult learners using lifelong education institutions, and provides basic data on variables necessary to increase their job effectiveness in a rapidly changing job environment.
This paper explores antecedents of entrepreneurial and job search intentions based on the theory of planned behavior. Additionally, it examines the impact of entrepreneurship and job search education on these antecedents of entrepreneurial and job search intentions. The research model has been validated by analyzing 1,432 responses from undergraduate students in South Korea. The results of analysis provide several findings: First, entrepreneurship attitude, entrepreneurship subjective norm, and entrepreneurship self efficacy showed significant positive effects on entrepreneurial intention, but their effects on job search intention were insignificant. Second, while job search attitude showed significant positive effects on both intentions, job search subjective norm showed a significant effect only on job search intention, and job search self efficacy showed a significant effect only on entrepreneurial intention. Third, entrepreneurship education increased all the antecedents of entrepreneurial intention, and reduced job search attitude. These results imply that entrepreneurship and job search education should be managed comprehensively, considering their cross-effects on the antecedents of entrepreneurial and job search intentions.

With regard to gaining employment for specialized high school graduates, what are the significant factors? Along with specialized high school's employment support, facility and subject support, vocational ability support, career guidance, and employment support are implemented at school. At the same time, individuals are learning career preparation behavior and job search behavior. Those factors influence the career maturity. Therefore, a question is, "Do they finally affect employment?" The independent variables were composed of satisfaction on school support, such as facility and subject support, career preparation behavior at home, pre-job search behavior, and career maturity. A structural equation was created and an analysis was conducted. As a result of the analysis, the satisfaction on school support has significant impacts on career maturity and career preparation behavior at home and influences on employment directly or indirectly. The career preparation behavior at home not only has a direct impact on employment, but also increases the pre- job search behavior and career maturity. In particular, it was confirmed that the career preparation behavior at home is the main factor to increase employment via the pre-job search behavior. Considering the effects among the factors in gender, the satisfaction on school support directly increases employment, particularly for women. Therefore, high-quality school support programs should be enhanced, focusing on employment support programs for women. In addition, as satisfaction on school support increases, women are more likely to undergo career preparation behavior at home. This suggests that the career preparation behavior for females, such as conversation about career, is a critical factor to increasing employment unlike males. Therefore, support programs for women that is aimed at parents should be developed.
