  • Tremor is an most common abnormal movements disease which is to-and-fro shaking. It is caused by problems -with the nerves supplying certain muscles. It can affect the whole body or just certain areas. Parkinson's disease, Brain disease like injury of Frontal lobe, Cerebellum and Brainstem, drug and alcohol caused this symptom. It could be occured by physiological and Essential cause. In this paper, authors report three cases who showed tremor after Cerebral infarction. And we suggest that 'Ssanghwa-Tang' should be helpful for tremor patients.

  • Silicon nitride is widely used as an engineering ceramics because it has high strength, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance even at high temperature. However, machining of silicon nitride is difficult due to its high hardness and brittleness. Laser assisted machining(LAM) allows effective cutting using CBN tool by locally heating the cutting part to the softening temperature of YSiAlON using the laser beam. The effect of preheating depending on process parameters were studied to find out the oxidation mechanism. If silicon nitride is sufficiently preheated, the surface is oxidized and $N_2$ gas is formed and escapes from the material, thereby making the cutting process more advantageous. During laser preheating process before machining, high temperature results in strong oxidation which makes the bloating, silicate layers and micro cracks. Using the results of these experiments, preheating characteristics and oxidation behavior were found out.

  • This paper presents the concept for the development of a pet-type robot with an emotion engine. The pet-type robot named KOBIE (KOala roBot with Intelligent Emotion) is able to interact with a person through touch. KOBIE is equipped with tactile sensors on the body for interaction with a person through recognition of his/her touching behaviors such as "Stroke","Tickle","Hit". We have covered KOBIE with synthetic fur fabric in order to can make him/her feel affection as well. KOBIE is able to also express an emotional status that varies according to the circumstances under which it is presented. The emotion engine of KOBIE's emotion expression system generates an emotional status in an emotion vector space which is associated with a predefined needs and mood models. In order to examine the feasibility of our emotion expression system, we verified a changing emotional status in our emotion vector space by a touching behavior. We specially examined the reaction of children who have interacted with three kind of pet-type robots: KOBIE, PARO, AIBO for roughly 10 minutes to investigate the children's preference for pet-type robots.

  • In order to obtain 'value added products' from polypropylene (PP)/waste ground rubber tire powder (WGRT) composites, PP/WGRT microcellular foams were prepared via supercritical carbon dioxide. The effects of blend composition and processing condition on the cell size, cell density and relative density of PP/WGRT micro-cellular composites were studied. The results indicated that the microcellular structure was dependent on blend composition and processing condition. An increased content of waste ground rubber tire powder (WGRT) and maleic anhydride-grafted styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS-g-MA) reduced the cell size, and raised the cell density and relative density, whereas a higher saturation pressure increased the cell size, and reduced the cell density and relative density. With increasing saturation temperature, the cell size increased and the relative density decreased, whereas the cell density initially increased and then decreased.

  • Hydrophobically monoendcapped poly(sodium acrylate)s formed hydrophobic microdomains in water. This was concluded on poly(sodium acrylate)s with a linear $C_{12}$-alkyl chain attached specifically at the end of the polymer. There was no well defined CMC (critical micelle concentration), but rather a gradual transition from a micelle free solution to a micelle solution. Steady state fluorescence spectroscopy indicates that the micro domains are rather hydrophobic. At pH 5 in the abscence of salt and at pH 9 in the prescence of 1 M sodium citrate the CAC (critical aggregation concentration) was in the range of 0.1 to 2.4 mM. However at pH 5 there was a linear increase in the transition concentration with a head-group size due to an increase in steric and electrostatic repulsions between polymer main chains. At pH 9 in the abscence of salt the transition concentration was in the range of 1 to 80 mM. For the larger polymers there was a effect which consisted of a concentration gradient of sodium counterion toward the hydrophobic domain. The effect was larger for the larger polymers because of the higher total sodium concentration and the less steep counterion concentration gradient.

  • The ion exchangers supported on silica gel containing primary, secondary, or tertiary amine groups show a behaviour that is weakly acidic, while the quaternary salts are strongly acidic. These properties change according to the hydrophilicities of the modifier functional groups. Ammonium salt derivatives supported on silica gel were prepared from silica modified with 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysiliane and N-3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propylehtylene diamine. The preparation and the ion exchange properties of two systems were discussed. Two systems have different hydrophilicities and contain ammonium chloride derivatives of 3-amminopropyltriethoxysilane and N-3-(triehtoxysilyl)propyl ethylene diamine supported on silica gel, $SA^+/Cl^-$ and $SA^+/Cl^-$, respectively. The high affinity to perchlorate ion presented by the $SA^+/Cl^-$ through the equilibrium studies of ion exchange led us to its application as an ion selective electrode for the perchlorate ion. The determination of the perchlorate ion in the presence of other anions and in complexes is very difficult. Few analytical methods are available and most of them are indirect. Both materials showed potential use as an ion exchanger; they are thermically stable, achieve equilibrium rapidly in the presence of suitable exchanger ions, and are easily recovered.

  • In order to develop non-heated STAl(super thermal resistant Aluminum alloy) for ampacity gain conductor, the systematic research was carried out. Especailly, the effect of a very small amount of Zr, Sc element in EC grade Al ingot on mechanical and electrical properties was our priority. As a result, it was found that the strength and recrystallization temperature of designed alloy was gradually increased with Zr, Sc addition up to 0.3 wt.%. However, the electric conductivity showed no drastic change. The tensile strength and recrystalliztion temperature, $17.75{\sim}20.05\;kgf/mm^2$ and $420{\sim}520\;^{\circ}C$, was obtained at 0.3 wt.% Zr, Sc addition, respectively. Particles of the $Al_3Zr$ and $Al_3Sc$ phase affected the ambient and elevated-temperature strength of the alloys.

  • In this paper, by using the Rayleigh-Sommer field theory and the cross-spectral density function, the analytical expression for the intensity distribution of a double half-Gaussian hollow beam in a turbulent atmosphere is obtained. The influence of the initial spot size of this beam on its propagation properties in a turbulent atmosphere is simulated, and the intensity distributions for such beams with different spot sizes are obtained. The results show that the initial spot size has an important influence on the propagation properties in the near field, while this influence in the far field is very weak.

  • The compensated-current-differential relay uses the same restraining current as a conventional relay, but the differential current is modified to compensate for the effects of the exciting current. Delta winding current is necessary to obtain the modified differential current for a $Y-\Delta$ transformer. This paper describes an estimation algorithm of the delta winding current and its application to a compensated-current-differential relay for a $Y-\Delta$ transformer. Prior to saturation, the core-loss current is calculated and used to modify the differential current. When the core first enters saturation, the initial value of the core flux is obtained by inserting the modified differential current into the magnetization curve. This flux value is used to derive the magnetizing current and consequently the modified differential current. The operating performance of the proposed relay was compared against a conventional current differential relay with harmonic blocking. Test results indicate that the proposed relay remained stable during severe magnetic inrush and over-excitation, and its operating time is significantly faster than a conventional relay. The relay is unaffected by the level of remanent flux and does not require an additional restraining or blocking signal to maintain stability. This paper concludes by implementing the proposed algorithm into a prototype relay based on a digital signal processor.
