Analysis of the Flow Field of Carrier-Based Aircraft Exhaust Jets Impact on the Flight Deck

  • In order to provide some references for suitability of carrier-based aircrafts, this paper studies the flow field of exhaust jets and its impact on the flight deck. The geometrical models of aircraft carrier and carrier-based aircrafts are firstly built, on which unstructured tetrahedral meshes are generated for numerical analysis. Then, this paper simulates the flow field of exhaust jets to evaluate its impact on the Jet Blast Deflector (JBD) and the flight deck, when four carrier-based aircrafts are ready to start off in the bow. The standard k-${\varepsilon}$ equations, three-dimension N-S equations and the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) theory are used in the analysis process. To solve the equations, the thermal coupling of the wind and the jet flow are also considered. The velocity and temperature distributions are provided with the simulation of the CFD software, FLUENT. The results indicate that: (1) this analytical method can be used to simulate aerodynamic problems with complex geometrical models, and the results are of high reliability; (2) the safety working area, the installation scheme of the JBD and the arrangement of the take-off position can be optimized through analysis.

  • Carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide (Cf-SiC) and SiC / SiC composites have high thermal conductivity, and excellent corrosion and wear resistance, a low coefficient for thermal expansion and are lightweight. This is why they are commonly used in parts of the aerospace industry to develop an aircraft thrust deflector, jet vane, combustion chamber, elevens, body flap, and a shingle. So, understanding how this state-of-the-art Cf-SiC affects both internal and external crack detection and determining issues during the manufacturing process of composite materials, should be evaluated according to valuation techniques in the external environment. In this paper, we apply a non-contact air ultrasonic technique of non-destructive testing techniques to perform a study on internal defect detection identification and assessment of carbon-fiber reinforced silicon carbide composites to perform basic research and applied research.

디젤 엔진 연료 분사 펌프 캐비테이션 현상의 가시화 연구 (Optical Observation of Cavitation Phenomena in Diesel Fuel Injection Pumps)

  • 중속 디젤 엔진에 적용된 연료 펌프의 스필 포트 및 플런저 벽면에서 발생하는 캐비테이션 손상 원인을 규명하기 위해, 연료 펌프의 스필 포트 내부에서 일어나는 캐비테이션 유동 현상에 대한 가시화를 수행 하였다. 이를 위해 기존 연료 펌프를 개조하여 사파이어 가시창을 제작, 설치하고, 고속 카메라와 Nd-YAG 레이져 및 산업용 내시경을 이용한 다양한 가시화 방법을 모색하였다. 취득한 영상의 분석 결과 연료의 분사 과정 동안 네 가지 형태의 특징적인 캐비테이션 현상이 목격되며, 특히 연료 압송 과정의 종료 직전과 직후 에서 발생하는 분수 형태와 제트 형태의 캐비테이션이 손상의 지배적인 원인으로 판명되었다.

기계적 편향판 설치위치의 변화에 따른 유동특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Flow Characteristics with the Installed Location Change of Mechanical Deflector)

  • Thrust vector control is the method which generates the side force and roll moment by controlling exhausted gas directly in a rocket nozzle. TVC is classified by mechanical and fluid dynamic methods. Mechanical methods can change the flow direction by several objects installed in a rocket nozzle exhaust such as tapered ramp tabs and jet vane. Fluid dynamic methods control the flight direction with the injection of secondary gaseous flows into the rocket nozzle. The tapered ramp tabs of mechanical methods are used in this paper. They installed at the rear in the rocket nozzle could be freely moved along axial and radial direction on the mounting ring to provide the mass flow rate which is injected from the rocket nozzle. TVC of the tapered ramp tabs has the potential to produce both large axial thrust and high lateral force. We have conducted the experimental research and flow analysis of ramp tabs to show the performance and the structural integrity of the TVC. The experiments are carried out with the supersonic cold flow system and the schlieren graph. This paper provides to analyze the location of normal shock wave and distribution of surface pressure on the region enclosed by the tapered ramp tabs.

평판 위에 충돌하는 초음속 과소팽창 제트에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of Supersonic Underexpanded Jet Impinging on a Perpendicular Flat Plate)

  • 충돌제트는 미사일 또는 수직/단거리 이착륙기의 배기가스가 지면이나 화염 편향기 등에 부딪힐 때 발생하며 노즐의 형상, 노즐과 평판과의 거리등에 따라 유동양상이 달라진다. 본 연구에서는 초음속 노즐을 통해 과소 팽창된 제트가 평판에 부딪힐 때 형성되는 평판 압력분포 및 버블 발생 등에 대한 시험결과를 선행된 충격파 풍동을 이용한 시험 결과와 비교하고 초음속 유동시험장치 이용시의 유동 특성을 규명하였다. 초음속 유동시험장치와 충격파 풍동의 평판에서 압력분포는 저압 챔버 내의 수분과 온도 때문에 차이가 나타났고 과소 팽창비에 따른 압력분포는 서로 유사한 경향을 보여주었다.
