  • In this study, regression equation was analyzed to estimate non-point source (NPS) pollutant loads in orchard area. Many factors affecting the runoff of NPS pollutant as precipitation, storm duration time, antecedent dry weather period, total runoff density, average storm intensity and average runoff intensity were used as independent variables, NPS pollutant was used as a dependent variable to estimate multiple regression equation. Based on the real measurement data from 2008 to 2012, we performed correlation analysis among the environmental variables related to the rainfall NPS pollutant runoff. Significance test was confirmed that T-P ($R^2=0.89$) and BOD ($R^2=0.79$) showed the highest similarity with the estimated regression equations according to the NPS pollutant followed by SS and T-N with good similarity ($R^2$ >0.5). In the case of regression equation to estimate the NPS pollutant loads, regression equations of multiplied independent variables by exponential function and the logarithmic function model represented optimum with the experimented value.

  • We investigate the chemical differentiation in F, G, K type stars with and without planets to extend the work by Kang et al. (2011) to various spectral types. Since the primordial chemical composition has been preserved in the stellar atmosphere, stellar metallicity can provide the information on the primordial material, which is the potential building block of planets. Therefore, we can explore the favored conditions for planet formation through the comparison of chemical compositions between planet-host stars (PHSs) and stars without planets. In this work, we analyze 19 F, G, and K type stars. In each spectrum, we measure equivalent widths (EWs) of Fe, Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, and Ni using TAME (Tools for Automatic Measurement of Equivalent width). The abundances of these species can be derived with the measured EWs and MOOG code (Sneden 1973). Like results by precedent studies, we find that planet-host stars have abundances higher than stars without planets. The typical difference in the abundances of Na, Mn, Co and Ni is $0.4{\pm}0.2dex$. In addition, as found in Kang et al. (2011), Mn is the most different element between PHSs and comparison stars.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of neuromuscular re-education program and general intervention program. It is focused on difference between changes of experimental before and after on 20 stroke patient's motor control ability. The obtained results are as follows; In change in motor control ability, neuromuscular re-education program group about the motor control ability was a significant difference(p<.01). And traditional intervention program group, the motor control ability was a significant difference in all of items (p<.01; p<.05) but, were not a significant difference in bladder management, social interaction, problem solving and memory. And also comparison of change in motor control ability between the experimental group and control group, the between-subjects factors were a significant difference. Most of the functional items on the functional items on the functional measurement and neuromuscular function measurement are concerned with the physical autonomy of the hemiplegic patients. More in depth knowledge may be acquired about the distribution of physical and motor control patterns with respect to the degree of neurologic deficit for the enhencement of residual motor control function in hemiplegia. In conclusion, the neuromuscular re-education program was more effect then traditional intervention program in motor control ability.

  • Wilson and Bappu found a tight correlation between the stellar absolute visual magnitude (MV) and the width of the Ca II K emission line for late-type stars in 1957. Here, we revisit the Wilson-Bappu relationship (hereafter, WBR) to claim that WBR can be an excellent indicator of stellar surface gravity of late-type stars as well as a distance indicator. We have measured the width (W) of the Ca II K emission line in high resolution spectra of 125 late-type stars, which were obtained with Bohyunsan Optical Echelle Spectrograph (BOES) and adopted from the UVES archive. Based on our measurement of the emission line width (W), we have obtained a WBR of $M_V=33.76-18.00{\log}W$. In order to extend the WBR to be a surface gravity indicator, the stellar atmospheric parameters such as effective temperature ($T_{eff}$), surface gravity (logg), metallicity ([Fe/H]), and micro-turbulence (${\xi}_{tur}$) have been derived from the self-consistent detailed analysis using the Kurucz stellar atmospheric model and the abundance analysis code, MOOG. Using these stellar parameters and logW, we found that ${\log}g=-5.85\;{\log}W+9.97\;{\log}T_{eff}-23.48$ for late-type stars.

  • Disk stellar luminosity function has been derived with stars in the Lowell Proper Motion Survey which contains about 9000 stars with ${\mu}\;{\geq}\;0".27$ of arc/yr, $8\;<\;m_{pg}\;<\;17$ and with bright stars in the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) Star Catalogue, Luminosity function has been obtained with stars within 20 pc by Luyten's mean absolute magnitudes method using Reduced Proper Motion Diagram to select disk stars. Magnitudes and colors, in the SAO Star Catalogue as well as in the Lowell Proper Motion Survey have been transformed to the UBV system from the published UBV data. It has been found that stars which have higher proper motion than the original limit of the proper motion survey are missed, when the relation between the absolute magnitude and reduced proper motion is applied to sample stars without considering the dispersion in magnitude. Correction factors for missing stars have been estimated according to their limits of proper motion which are dependent on the absolute magnitude. Resulting luminosity function shows Wielen's dip at $M_B{\sim}10$, and systematic enhancement of stars on the average of about ${\Delta}\log\;{\Phi}\;(M_B){\sim}0.2$ compared with Luyten's luminosity function.

  • Wilson and Bappu (1957) found a significant relationship (WBR) between the absolute magnitude ($M_v$) and the width of the Ca II K emission line (W) for late type stars. In this study, we revisit the WBR to claim that WBR can be an excellent indicator of stellar surface gravity. We analyze 95 high-resolution spectra of G, K and M type stars obtained with UVES and BOES. WBR found in this work is $M_v$=34.22-18.34logW. In addition, stellar atmospheric parameters ($T_{eff}$, logg, [Fe/H], ${\xi}_{tur}$) are determined with the MOOG code and the Kurucz ATLAS9 model grids for G and K type stars. For M type stars, the method of Belle et al. (1999) is used to derive effective temperature which shows good agreement with other methods. Using the derived $T_{eff}$ and the measured logW,we find the relationship between logg and [logW, logT]; ${\log}g-_{fit}=-25.051-5.527{\log}W+10.254{\log}T_{eff}$. This relation can be applied to estimate the surface gravity of M type stars, which is difficult to be determined by other methods.

  • Background: Early rehabilitation after partial meniscectomy is important to recover the balance of the vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateralis and prevent pathological problems in the lower extremities and the whole body. Objective: To compare muscle activations for patients after partial meniscectomy. Design: Dual-group Pretest-Posttest Design from the Quasi-Experimental Research. Methods: Twenty participants after partial meniscectomy were recruited and were randomly divided into a Q-setting sensorimotor training group (QSMTG) and Q-setting exercise group (QSEG). Muscle activity of the vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateralis was measured before and after intervention. Results: In the two groups, the vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateralis activations increased significantly (P<.05). The Q-setting sensorimotor training group showed more increases than the Q-setting exercise group, and there were significant differences between the groups (P<.05). The activation ratio of the vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateralis had increasingly significant differences in the Q-setting sensorimotor training group (P<.05), and there were no significant differences between the groups (P>.05). Conclusion: Q-setting exercise with sensorimotor training was a useful method that improved the balance of vastus medialis oblique (VMO) and vastus lateralis (VL) activity after meniscectomy.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to describe and compare the temporo-spatial gait characteristics of healthy young people with those of healthy elderly people. Methods: The data were collected by 40 volunteers. 20 subjects were between 20 and 31 years of age, and 20 subjects were between 65 and 84 years of age. Temporal and spatial parameters of gait were analysed for using the computerized GAITRite system. Results : The system integrates specific components of locomotion to provide a single, numerical representation of gait, the Functional Ambulation Performance score. Differences in gait characteristics between the two groups were examined using a correlated t-test(p<.05). Significant differences were observed between the groups for step length, step/extremity ratio and velocity. Young people demonstrated a significantly larger velocity, step length and step/extremity ratio than the elderly people. Conclusions: These results indicate that the GAITRite system can be useful in detecting footfall patterns and selected time and distance measurements of young and older persons. Additionaly, differences in walking velocity, step length and step/extremity ratio between old and young people may have influenced the gait characteristics measured.
