  • The Contemporary paradigm to understand the complexity and diversity is moving to 'Becoming' that taken place in reviewing at the relation of various concepts. In Japan, After the collapse of modern architecture has been declared 'Metabolism' was appeared. They tried to apply organism's metabolic system to buildings based on ecological thoughts. But Metaboilsm's projects had revealed limitations of representation that the city on the mechanical system became a huge scale. As a result, It caused a break the cultural context of the region in Japan. After then, Japanese Architects expressed a pluralistic aspects of modern society for the restoration of disconnected cultural context. From this perspective, The thought of 'becoming' is a new role for Contemporary Japanese Architect. This research is focused of projects of SANAA, Ito Toyo, Sou Fujimoto, because they have spatial thought about realizing the space through the ways organizing the various potential possibilities in the simple external form not stimulated. They are realize the 'becoming-space' within the architecture. This 'becoming-space' gives people in building the new characteristics and experience that potential interactions among user, architecture and nature. It is non-representational space not fixed, but changing organically and variably.

  • The results of this study are as follows : 1. Though Korean college women have taken unfriendly attitudes and thoughts to Japan, they have enjoyed themselves over the various Japanese cultures. 2. They have thought that Japanese fashion becomes popular in Korea, Japanese clothes are superior to Korean clothes in quality, and they are suitable to express personality. 3. Japanese clothing elements which become popular now in Korea are the clothing style of ‘school girl-look’, ‘Avant-garde’, punk hair style, and the various shapes of shoes, accessories, and make-up.

2008년도 일본유학 및 국학사상 연구동향 (Research Trends on Japanese Confucianism and Kokugaku Thought in 2008)

  • 이 글은 2008년에 일본어·한국어·중국어·영어로 발표된 일본의 유학 사상 및 국학사상 관련 논문과 단행본들을 살펴보고 대략적인 연구 동향을 파악한 것이다. 여기에 소개된 약 200여건의 연구 성과들은 일본 에도시대(1603-1868) 사상가와 관련한 연구 성과가 망라되어 있다. 한번 일견함으로써 전 세계에서 에도시대 사상 및 사상가에 대한 연구가 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 누가 어떠한 연구를 하고 있는지 바로 파악할 수 있을 것이다. 전체적으로 살펴보면, 주자학파, 양명학파, 고학파와 미토학파, 그리고 국학파에 대한 연구는 40건에서 60건 사이로 비교적 골고루 이루어지고 있다. 다만 그 중에서도 국학파에 대한 연구가, 가장 적은 주자학파에 대한 연구보다 16건이 더 많다. 이는 일본사상연구의 주류라고 할 수 있는 일본연구자들이 국학파 연구를 선호하기 때문이다. 일본어로 발표된 연구만 본다면 국학파 연구가 51건이며 주자학파 연구는 29건으로 22건이나 차이가 난다. 한국어로 발표된 연구는 주자학파와 고학파·미토학파가 가장 많은 7건이고, 국학파는 4건이다. 중국어 연구는 양명학파가 가장 많고 그 다음은 고학파와 미토학파이다. 영어권 연구는 각 학파에 골고루 2건 정도로 발표되었다. 언어별로 살펴보면 보면 일본어 연구성과가 153편으로 압도적으로 많고 한국어 연구 성과는 모두 20건인데 중국어 연구는 24건이다. 영어권 연구는 그보다 훨씬 적은 7건이었다. 연구가 가장 많이 이루어진 사상가는 모토오리 노리나가로 총 33건이다. 그 다음이 요시다 쇼인 23건, 오규 소라이 21건이다. 한국어 연구 성과가 많은 사상가는 모토오리 노리나가(4건)와 야마자키 안사이(3건)이다. 중국어 연구성과는 야마가 소코(4건), 요시다 쇼인(4건), 오규 소라이 (3건)이다. 중국어의 경우는 국학파에 대한 연구성과가 가장 적으며, 한국어의 경우는 양명학파에 대한 연구가 가장 적었다.

최근 한국의 일본유학 연구 현황(2007년-2009년) (Recent Studies on Japanese Confucianism Research in Korea(2007-2009))

  • 이 글은 2007년 이후 2009년까지 한국에서의 일본 유학 연구 현황을 소개한 것이다. 요즈음 인문학 연구의 전반적인 침제에도 불구하고 일본유학에 대한 국내 연구는 조금씩 진전을 보이고 있다. 최근 국내에 일본과 중국, 대만 등지에서 이루어진 일본유학의 연구 성과가 활발히 정리, 소개되고 있으며, 일본사상을 전문으로 연구하는 일본 학자들이 적극적으로 국내학계에서 초빙되어 연구 활동을 하고 논문을 발표하고 있는 점도 의미 있는 진전이라고 할 수 있다. 또 일본 유학을 전공으로 한 석사와 박사의 배출도 있었다. 이 논문의 제 4장에서는 최근 3년 사이에 발표된 연구 성과를 일반적인 연구, 주자학파에 대한 연구, 이토 진사이에 대한 연구, 오규 소라이에 대한 연구로 나누어 살펴보았다. 특히 인물을 중심으로 그 성과를 살펴보았는데, 전체적으로 보면 이토 진사이(伊藤仁齋)와 오규 소라이(荻生徂徠) 관련 논문이 많이 발표되었다. 아울러 소라이와 관련된 논문은 다산 정약용의 사상과 비교한다든지, 동아시아 차원에서 비교연구를 하는 연구가 많았다. 소라이의 『논어』해석과 관련된 논문, 소라이학에 대한 연구논문도 활발히 발표되었다. 전체적으로 평가해보면 한국에서 일본 유학연구는 아직 걸음마 단계에 머물러 있다. 그렇지만 최근에 작으나마 의미 있는 발전이 이루어져, 향후 국내학계의 일본유학연구에 밝은 전망을 기대하게 한다.

  • In order to understand the characteristics of the Japanese conception of space, we examined the characteristics of Japanese human geography, schools of thought, and aesthetics through the examinations on relevant documents. In addition, we reorganized such cultural backgrounds in relation to the Japanese perception of space, extracting the fundamental principles and elements of Japanese space composition and examining their significance. We propose a structural framework for understanding and analyzing Japanese space based on the reciprocal relationship and meaning among the various elements of Japanese space. Using this analytical framework, we studied the representative works of Japanese interior space, concluding in an analysis of the expressive characteristics of the Japanese notion of space.

SD법에 의한 한국, 일본, 중국, 서양 각 요리에 대한 개념의 일본인과 한국인의 인식에 대한 비교 분석 (The Comparative Analysis of Understanding the Conceptions of Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Western Cuisine by SD between the Japanese and the Korean)

  • In the survey of Korean and Japanese female students at the age of $20{\sim}22$, the conceptions of Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Western daily foods were recorded by SD and factor analysis and their perceptions about cuisine of their own countries and other countries in the diets of young people were figured out on the basis of their conceptions. The results are given below. The trends of perceptions about cuisine of their own countries and about Chinese and Western cuisine were coincided in both the Korean and the Japanese. The perceptions of their own countries‘ cuisine might seem to be traditional, familiar, cheap, and delicious. About Western cuisine, they felt that it seemed to be elegant and expensive but not familiar or delicious. Furthermore, the Korean had stronger perceptions about it than the Japanese had. For Chinese cuisine, the Korean felt the same as they did toward the Japanese foods just as the Japanese felt that the Korean cuisine was similar to the Chinese cuisine. The Japanese have thought that the Korean food-style was similar to that of their own country and Kimchi and Bulgogi have emerged in popular Japanese cooking. Also, they felt that the Korean cold noodle dish and Bibimbab were very familiar. On the other side, the Korean have become familiar with sushi, grilled meat, and Japanese noodles, but they were not familiar with other foods.

On Reaction Signals

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the use of reaction signals by Japanese and English speakers. After collecting data from Japanese and English speakers, American and British, I checked them and decided to be concerned with five of them: ah, eh, oh, m, and ${\partial}:m$. At first I thought that the first three of them resembled in form and in their tones and meanings, while the others occur frequently only in English. But as I was reading the data more in detail I found the reason for too frequent use of the signal eh by Japanese. It is also found that the signal eh is a kind of substitute for a real word, the similar linguistic phenomenon is seen in the use of m, and m seems to be different from ${\partial}:m$ in its function, according to whether the speaker is talkative or not. And American students learning Japanese started their Japanese with an English reaction signal and the reverse phenomenon was found with Japanese students speaking in English, so much so that reaction signals are used spontaneously, though they have various tones and meanings.

아베 미츠이에(阿部充家)의 한(韓)·일(日) 불교(佛敎) 관련(關聯) 활동(活動) -신자료(新資料) 「중앙학림학생제군(中央學林學生諸君)」 (1915), 「조선불교(朝鮮佛敎)の금석(今昔)」(1918)의 공개(公開)와 더불어- (ABE MITUIE's Movements in Korean and Japanese Buddism)

  • This article introduces Abe Mituie's activities related to Korean and Japanese Buddhism and two newly discovered materials. He worked as a brain of Japanese cultural rule over Joseon Korea while holding various positions such as the president of KyeongSung Il Bo, the vice president of Kokmin Newspaper and the director of Central Joseon Association. Abe was responsible for Enkak Temple, the head temple of Japanese Rinzai section, and was one of the layman followers of Syak Soen who worked for the spread of modern Japanese Buddhism to Europe and America. He was a respectful Buddhist layman so as to teach Zen Buddhism for young Buddhist monks in Japan. After he started to assume charge in the Kyeong Sung Il Bo, he was also very active in movements in relation to Joseon Buddhism to the extent that he was found to be deeply involved in Joseon Buddhism sections. On the other hand, he concluded Joseon culture to be 'devastated.' He asserted that it was necessary to develop spiritual culture and revive Buddhism in order to resolve the devastation in the Joseon. In addition, he thought that Joseon Buddhism was ruined due to the misgovernment of the Joseon Dynasty, but had its own as great tradition as Japanese Buddhism. Therefore, in his opinion, there was a need to do research on Joseon Buddhism and find some way out of the contemporary difficulties. In order to save the situation, he made efforts to protect and revive Joseon Buddhism while paying continuous visits to Joseon Buddhist temples, supporting the publication of Buddhist canons and proposing to have a regular meeting of 'The Invitation of 30 Head Temples.' From his visit to Youngju Temple and his consistent relationship with Kang Daeryeon, it can be assumed that he was involved in reorganizing power structure in Joseon Buddhism and establishing various institutions. He emphasized the strict adherence of individuals and communities to rules in his lecture for students at Jung Ang Hak Rim. It was a way to revive Joseon Buddhism by creating a new social image of Joseon Buddhism. He continued to work for the restoration of Joseon Buddhism even after he retired from Kyeong Sung Il Bo and returned to Japan. He introduced the originality of Joseon Buddhism history to Japan and sent Japanese monks to Korea in order to do research and contribute to exchange between Korean and Japanese Buddhism. All things taken together, it is evident that Abe Mitzihe regarded Joseon as backward or stagnant from a perspective of evolutionist or orientalist, and was a Japanese elite to believe that it was just for Japan to control Korea. However, he was different from other Japanese elites in that he did not considered Joseon Buddhism merely as the object of propagation. He thought that Joseon Buddhism possessed its own great tradition and culture, but was ruined because of the misadministration of the Joseon Royal House. Therefore, in his opinion, Joseon Buddhism should be recovered by means of some supports, and its revival would lead to the restoration of Joseon culture as a whole, which would be realized by Japanese rule over Korea and Japanese elites' generous assistance.

파김치에 대한 중국인과 일본인 소비자의 인식 및 요구도 분석 (Perception and requirement of Green Onion Kimchi by Chinese and Japanese consumers)

  • A survey on the quality improvement and preference for green onion kimchi by Chinese and Japanese consumers was conducted by 30 Korean specialists in order to develop an improved green onion kimchi product. The long green onion shape, kimchi juice, seasonings, off-odor of fermented sea food, and stimulatory flavor of green onion were the main issues considered for the improvement of green onion product. Usage of the favorite ingredients of the Chinese and Japanese consumers was also suggested. The percentages of Chinese and Japanese who already knew green onion kimchi were 54.1% and 30.3%, respectively, whereas 46.8% of Chinese and 28.1% of Japanese have actually tried green onion kimchi in Korea. There was no significant difference in the preference for green onion kimchi between Chinese (3.25/5.0) and Japanese (3.17/5.0) consumers. For recommendations for improving the quality of green onion, Chinese consumers thought off-flavor, fibrous texture, and fermentation level were more significant while the Japanese considered red color, various taste, MSG content, and length of green onion. Seasoned tofu with green onion and rice were suggested as complementary foods to green onion kimchi by the Chinese and Japanese, respectively.

일본 컨테이너항만의 위기와 대응전략 연구 (A Study on Japanese Container Ports crisis and Strategy)

  • Recognizing that the main container ports' status is gradually inclining, the Japanese government is driving forward the super hub port project. This project has three goals, unifying Japanese ports separating nationally, diminishing the port costs by 30 percents less than the current port costs of their competitors, and cutting down the lead time of processing import-export freight into 24 hours, Singaporean level. The project will work to some extent, if succeeding, but the effect is doubtful if it will be the fundamental solution of Japanese ports' crisis. I wrote this paper since I thought that this Japanese policy would serve as a good reference of Korea, which had two container ports system and its prospect was not good through the fact that the Busan ports' rank of dealing with containers fell down to the fifth in 2003.
