일본 자동차시장의 경쟁구조 변화와 한국기업의 대일 수출전략에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Changes of the Competition Structure of the Japanese Automobile Market and the Korean Enterprises' Strategies of Export to Japan)

  • 한국은 지난해 주력수출품목인 승용차(HS 8703)를 전세계에 409억불 수출하였다. 그러나 인접국인 일본시장에의 수출은 대 전세계 수출규모와 비교한다면 거의 없는 수준이다. 비록 장기간 경기침체 속에 있다하더라도 일본 자동차시장의 신차판매는 연간 500만대 규모의 큰 시장이다. 이러한 관점에서 일본 자동차시장의 경쟁구조를 분석하여, 이에 적합한 한국 자동차기업의 대일 수출전략을 제시하는 것은 의미가 있을 것이다. 본고는 J. S. Bain에 의하여 정립된 상위기업집중율($CR_k$)과 이단경지(伊丹敬之)(Itami Hiroyuki) 등의 일본시장 특성에 관한 선행연구를 이론적 배경으로 하여, 일본 자동차시장의 경쟁구조 변화를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 일본의 자동차시장에서는 시장지배적 위치에 있는 기업이 존재하고는 있으나, 차종별로 들어가면 빅3의 지배력에도 상당한 차이가 발생하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 경쟁구조도 계속 변화하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따른, 한국 자동차기업의 대일 수출전략으로 일본 자동차메이커와의 제휴를 통한 유통채널 상호활용 전략, 한국자동차의 브랜드전략, 일본사양(Designed for Japan) 개발을 통한 고급화전략 등을 제시하였다.

  • This paper research the country image, the brand image, consumers' performances and the brand royalty with the path analysis on foreign automobile brands. Our empirical study testify the reliability analysis, the factor analysis and the path analysis with above variables by SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 4.0. The result of this research is that hypotheses H1, H3, H5 were significantly supported, whereas, hypotheses H2, H4 were rejected in the samples of American automobile. and in the samples of Japanese automobile, it was clearly revealed that hypotheses H2, H3, H4 were significantly supported, whereas, hypotheses H1, H5 were rejected. So, in Korean market, we should focus on the brand image strategy more than the country image to make the brand royalty with American automobile products. whereas, Japanese automobile products, another strategy is recommended.

  • About 100 years after the start of mass production by American car maker Ford in 1913, the automobile industry has come to a major transformation in 100 years. In this transformation period, automakers are facing the biggest challenge of converting power sources, the basis of automobiles, from existing internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. Hybrid vehicles have been released in Japan since the late 1990s, and changes in automobile power sources have occurred early. In order to gain global leadership in hybrid vehicles, Japanese automakers and the Japanese government joined forces to promote the growth of the domestic hybrid vehicle market. The government has implemented a policy to substantially subsidize the high price of hybrid cars compared to internal combustion engine cars by providing purchase subsidies and tax benefits to buyers. Toyota has increased its line-up of hybrid cars around the Prius and has further strengthened communication with customers for the sale of hybrid vehicles. As a result of continuing these efforts for about 20 years, the percentage of Japan's hybrid vehicle market in 2022 reached 51% for passenger cars. Recently, each country has been setting and promoting aggressive goals for electric vehicles that require a wider range of physical and institutional infrastructure than hybrid vehicles. This study aims to assess the growth of electric vehicles by looking at the trend of hybrid vehicles and how they've been distributed in the Japanese market.

한중일 경제협력과 자동차 산업의 중국 진출방향 (The Economic Cooperation of Korea, China and Japan & the Advance to China in Automobile industry.)

  • Under the sudden change of competitive environment, the economic cooperation as a part of survival strategy is being a big issue among countries. There was much discussion based on the geological adjacency as well as cultural homogeneity regarding the economic cooperation of three countries, Korea, China, Japan. It has been also known that major trade countries of the world concluded the treaty of region trade, then extended the number of export, and drew a success in foreign direct investment. Resent automobile industry is being ran by the center of America, Europe and Japan. Korea only has a successful experience of restoration of automobile industry in the half of a century after his beginning. It is true that China is trying to do best to raise his automobile industry. Also Japan is a leading automobile country guiding automobile industry all over the world. It can be considered that Korea will play a major role in the three countries' automobile industry based on Japanese demonstrated technology, Chinese resources, market and experience with their economic cooperation. Therefore it is expected that a big result will be achieved throughout such a role play of each country. This paper has a purpose to light up the distinctive quality and the present condition of each country in automobile Industry, and to promote the foundation of three countries' economic cooperation. It is convinced that the economic cooperation of three countries, Korea, China and Japan in automobile industry, will play a great role in the world automobile market.

  • As the development of information and globalization of world economy enters new condition, the stake of every nation's makes more complwx, and multilateral negotiation lead by WTO is seriously delayed. But the number of agreement about FTA increase exponentially. In this study we aim to consider whether Korean FTA affects the relation of the trade of Korea and Japan or not, especially Automobile industry. The composition of this paper is as follows. Chap. 1 is Introduction. In Chap. 2, we consider the change of the Trade Policy of Korea focusing in FTA. In Chap. 3, we consider how Korean FTA affect the structure of Japan's Trade, especially the automobile industry of Korea and Japan. In Chap. 4, we have conclusion. As the conclusion, the impact to the automobile industry of Korea and Japan is that Korean FTA works to Korean automobile industry advantageously in micro level, but in macro level, the competition of world automobile industry move into a next generation technology market.

  • According to the Korea Ministry of Transportation report in 2015, domestic used car trade (3.66million) is twice the number of new car sales (1.84million). However, contrary to the quantitative growth of the used car trading volume, chaotic used-car market practice has not been improved and also, space that holds these markets (facilities) has remained at a very low level of quality. Lemon Market, asymmetry of information, false bait, tout, dual contracts, negative words that qualify the used car market information are still in place. The aim of this study was to understand the unique circumstances of the used car sales market distinguished from new cars, and to analyse the problems of recent domestic used car market facilities and afterwards to draw guidelines for new used car facility architecture. Through literature review, surveys, the characteristics of domestic used car market have been organised and field research and competitive analysis of the Korea used car market architecture is followed. As a result, empirical guideline for Korea used-car market facility is introduced.

전기차와 ESS용 이차전지 시장의 현재와 미래에 대한 기술경제적 분석 (Techno-economic Analysis on the Present and Future of Secondary Battery Market for Electric Vehicles and ESS)

  • Interest in the future of the battery market is growing as Tesla announces plans to increase production of electric vehicles and to produce batteries. Tesla announced an action plan to reduce battery prices by 56% through 'Battery Day', which included expansion of factories to internalize batteries and improvement of materials and production technology. In the trend of automobile electrification, the expansion of the battery market, which accounts for 40% of the cost of electric vehicles, is inevitable, and the size of the electric vehicle battery market in 2026 is expected to increase more than five times compared to 2016. With the development of materials and process technology, the energy density of electric vehicle batteries is increasing while the price is decreasing. Soon, electric vehicles and internal combustion locomotives are expected to compete on the same line. Recently, the mileage of electric vehicles is approaching that of an internal combustion locomotive due to the installation of high-capacity batteries. In the EV battery market, Korean, Chinese and Japanese companies are fiercely competing. Based on market share in the first half of 2020, LG Chem, CATL, and Panasonic are leading the EV battery supply, and the top 10 companies included 3 Korean companies, 5 Chinese companies, and 2 Japanese companies. All-solid, lithium-sulfur, sodium-ion, and lithium air batteries are being discussed as the next-generation batteries after lithium-ion, among which all-solid-state batteries are the most active. All-solid-state batteries can dramatically improve stability and charging speed by using a solid electrolyte, and are excellent in terms of technology readiness level (TRL) among various technology alternatives. In order to increase the competitiveness of the battery industry in the future, efforts to increase the productivity and economy of electric vehicle batteries are also required along with the development of next-generation battery technology.

일본의 대EU EPA추진과 우리나라의 대응방안 (EPA promotion of Japan against EU and counteractive measures of Korea)

  • As Korea-EU FTA has established, the strategy and counteractive measures of Japan have been rising. EU accounts for 33% of GDP and has a lot of population, which makes up 7.1% in the world. Besides, it has a great market, which, amounts to 4.3 trillion. Japanese government indicated that as Korea has established FTA with the U.S.A. and has negotiated with EU, the necessity to cope with in the field of automobile, machinery, and appliances is urgent. To recognize competitive areas in the market of EU between Korea and Japan, this paper focuses that we need to notice Japan's access toward EU and the present situation about trade and customs. Second, it investigates that Japan is in competitive with Korea in which kind of industrial area.

부산지역의 일본시장에 대한 교역구조와 비교우위 패턴 분석 (Trade Structure and Comparative Advantage Pattern of Busan Area against Japanese Market)

  • 부산지역은 일본에 대한 교역의존도가 높으며 경제환경 변동에 대한 부산의 교역탄력성이 낮은 것을 알 수 있다. 품목별로 부산과 일본과는 산업내무역의 정도가 상당히 다르게 나타났고 많은 제품들에서 수평적 산업내 무역과 고품질 수직적 산업내무역 뿐만 아니라 저품질 수직적 산업내무역이 발생하고 있다. 일본시장에서 비교우위를 살펴본 결과 비교열위가 있는 품목이 많았는데 특히 1970년대 부산의 주종 수출품인 신발은 일본과는 낮은 산업내무역과 함께 2001년부터 시장비교열위가 상당히 나타났다. 부산의 중요한 산업인 자동차 관련 산업은 일본시장에서 승용자동차 및 기타의 차량, 화물자동차 및 특수목적차량 등에 있어서 시장비교열위가 크게 나타났다. 무역수지기여도 분석결과 2000년대 초반에는 화학물과 기계 및 운수장비 등의 제품들에 있어서 무역수지 기여도가 양수와 음수로 나타나는 등 변동이 다소 나타났다. 부산의 품목별 비교우위패턴의 회귀분석결과, 일본시장에서 비교우위가 높은 품목들은 비교우위가 조금씩 감소하고 있는 반면 비교열위가 있는 품목들은 비교열위가 감소해가고 있는 수출구조를 가지고 있으며 또한 비교우위의 정도가 품목별로 수렴해가고 있다.
