Korea Nuclear Fuel is developing the X-GEN fuel which shows high performance and robust reliability for the worldwide supply. However, the simplified code systems such as CESEC-III which were developed in 1970s are still used in the current Non-LOCA safety analysis of OPR1000 and APR1400 plants. Therefore, it is essential to secure an advanced safety analysis methodology to make the best use of the merits of X-GEN fuel. To accomplish this purpose, the $\b{i}$ntegrated $\b{s}$afety $\b{a}$nalysis $\b{m}$ethodology (iSAM), is developed by selecting the best-estimate thermal-hydraulic code RETRAN. iSAM possesses remarkable advantages, such as generality, integrity, and designer-friendly features. That is, iSAM can be applied to both OPR1000 and APR1400 plants and uses only one computer code, RETRAN, in the whole scope of the non-LOCA safety analyses. Also the iSAM adopts the unique and automatic initialization and run tool, $\b{a}$utomatic $\b{s}$teady-$\b{s}$tate $\b{i}$nitialization and $\b{s}$afety analysis too l (ASSIST), to enable unhandy designers to use the new design code RETRAN without difficulty. In this paper, a brief overview of the iSAM is given, and the results of applying the iSAM to typical non-LOCA transients being checked during the reload design are reported. The typical non-LOCA transients selected are the single control element assembly withdrawal (SCEAW) accident, the asymmetric steam generator transients (ASGT), the locked rotor (LR) accident, and bank CEA withdrawal (BCEAW) event. Comparison to current licensing results shows a close resemblance; thus, it reveals that the iSAM can be applied to the non-LOCA safety analysis of OPR1000 and APR1400 plants.

Objectives: This experiment was designed to investigate the effect of the InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) extract on $A{\beta}$-induced AD model. Methods: The effects of the InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) extract on neural damages of cultured PC12 cells induced by $A{\beta}$ were investigated. The effects of the InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) extract on neural damages of hippocampal and cortical neurons in the mouse induced by $\beta$-amyloid were investigated. Results: 1. $A{\beta}$ treatment into neuronal cells activated cell death pathway when analyzed by MTT assay and by histological analysis. Then InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) treatment improved cell survival to a similar level as in normal group. 2. $A{\beta}$ treatment increased caspase 3 protein levels but decreased phospho-Erk1/2 in neuronal cells. InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) treatment reversed the production levels of two proteins close to those in normal group. 3. $A{\beta}$ treatment induced the atrophy of neuronal cells in terms of neuronal processes and cell body shrinkage, but InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) greatly improved their morphology. 4. Neuroprotective activity, as observed in InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang)-treated groups, was similarly observed in cells treated with galantamine which was used as a positive control. Moreover, overall recovery pattern by InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) was similar between cultured PC12 cells and in vivo hippocampal and cerebral cortical neurons in the mouse brain. Conclusions: This experiment shows that the InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) may play a protective role in neural tissues damaged by cytotoxic substances. Since neuronal damage seen in degenerative brains such as AD are largely unknown, the current data may provide possible insight into therapeutic strategies for AD treatments. InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) might be effective for the treatment of AD. Investigation into the clinical use of the InSamYangYoung-tang(Renshenyangrongtang) for AD is suggested for future research.

A practical method for evaluating the possibility of the occurrence of cracking in actual thick-plate T-joint weldments is presented in this study. Systematic experiments based on the method of the design of experiment are conducted in order to investigate the crack tendency in relation to typical welding parameters such as diffusible hydrogen, restraint intensity, preheating temperature and so on. The elastic analysis using the [mite element techniques is employed to quantify the restraint intensities of the specimens. The defined restraint intensities are treated in numerical way for the sake of considering the most uncertain factor among some major factors that govern the cracking phenomena due to welding. The critical plane for judgment of the crack occurrence or crack density is presented as a function of typical welding parameters including determined restraint intensities. The results of numerical estimation by the proposed method for the experimental specimens show the usefulness as a practical tool in welding induced crack problem having extensive uncertainties.

As specialized in sphygmology(脈學), this book was brought together most things about sphygmology(脈學) before Won(元) dynasty by the author. Moreover he added the self-realized things to this book. Methods: In this book, there are all 20 chapters; Chu Yo Hyeon Eon(樞要玄言), Jwa U Su Bae Jang Bu Bu Wi (左右手配臟腑部立), O Jang(五臟), Sa Si peong Maek(四時平脈), Nae Gyeong Sam Bu Maek Beop(內經三部脈法), Ho Heup Chim Bu Jeong O Jang Beop(呼吸沈浮定五臟法), In Ji Ha Gyeong Jung I Jeong O Jang Beop(因指下輕重以定五臟法), Sam Bu So Ju(三部所主), Ji Maek Su Beop(持脈手法), Maek Gwi Yu Sin(脈實有神), Maek Eum Yang Yu Seong(脈陰陽類成 ), Gyeom Hyeon Maek Ryu(兼見脈類), Je Maek Ui Gi Ryu(諸脈宜忌類), Heom Je Sa Jeung Ryu(驗諸死症類) , Sa Jeol Maek Ryu(死絶脈類), O Jang Dong Ji Maek(五藏動止脈), Bu In Maek Beop(婦人脈法), So A Maek Beop(小兒脈法), Maek Sang Tong Hoe(脈象統會), Maek Sang Ga(脈象歌) and an epilogue in the end. This treatise is made up of principal, notes, study and conclusion, we tried to make a translation faithful to the original. Results and Conclusion: Looking into this book, we can know that it is very detail in analyzing item by item, bright and simple in explaining and it is very useful in studying pulse evaluation(脈診). In his preface, Hwal Su(滑壽) expresses his opinion with firm confidence that 'Do(道) of the World scattered in several scholarships and books of method and technique(方術). Nothing of method and technique(方術 ) is more important than medicine. Nothing of medicine goes before pulse evaluation(脈診).' With such good reasons, as a student of sphygmology(脈學), I think this book is very valuable in studying pulse evaluation. So I add Hangul suffixes(吐) to a part of this book and translate it into Korean.

We performed this study to determine the radioprotective effect of Sam Ryung Baek Chul San (San Ling Bai Shu San), as a prescription of traditional Oriental medicine, and its major ingredients. Jejunal crypt survival, endogenous spleen colony formation, and apoptosis in jejunal crypt cells were investigated in irradiated mice with high and low dose of rays. Sam Ryung Baek Chul San administration before irradiation increased the formation of endogenous spleen colony(p<0.05) and reduced the frequency of radiation induced apoptosis(p<0.05). In the experiment on the effect of ingredients of Sam Ryung Baek Chul San, the result indicated that the extracts of Panax ginseng, Poria cocos and Coix lacryma jabi might have the major radioprotective effects. Although the mechanisms of these inhibitory effects remain to be elucidated, these results indicated that Sam Ryung Baek Chul San might be a useful radioprotector, especially since it is a relatively nontoxic natural product.
