Objectives : This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Jaeumgeonbi-tang extract on indomethacin-induced gastric mucosal lesions of mice. Methods : Experimental groups were classified into non-treatment group (CON group), non-administered group (GE group), misoprostol administered group (MA group) and Jaeumgeonbi-tang extract administered group (JG group). This study examined the morphological change, distribution of mast cells, mucous secreted cells and apoptotic cells, BrdU, COX-1, Hsp70, NF-κB p50, PKC, COX-2 and TNF-α of gastric mucosa. Results : 1. The hemorrhagic erosion of gastric mucosa and infiltrated mast cells were reduced in the MA and JG groups. 2. PNA reaction and mucous secreted cells were increased in the MA and JG groups. 3. The distribution of apoptotic cells, Hsp70, NF-κB p50, PKC, COX-2 and TNF-α were increased in the gastro­inflammation elicitated group, but decreased in the MA and JG groups. 4. The MA and JG groups showed increase on COX-1, BrdU. Conclusions : Jaeumgeonbi-tang extract had excellent effects on indomethacin-induced gastric mucosal lesions.

Jaeumgeonbi-tang Gamibang is noted as effective method to treat a dizziness in Korean Medicine. The main purpose of this research is analysis of the effects of Jaeumgeonbi-tang Gamibang on dizziness patients. In following research, 70 cases of dizziness patients who treated in Daejeon oriental medicine hospital from Oct, 2004 to Feb, 2009 were researched. The research is focused on clinical efficacy of Jaeumgeonbi-tang Gamibang. This research measured DHI and VAS before Jaeumgeonbi-tang Gamibang were prescribed. And Jaeumgeonbi-tang Gamibang were treated to all 70 patients. Finally DHI and VAS were measured again. Before this research, We had characterized and searched such as age, prevalence period, prescribed dosage, sex, vertigo type, pathological history in 70 patients. And DHI and VAS score were compared each other. The compared characteristic data shows that every cases were effective, in the DHI and VAS comparison, between pre-treatment and post-treatment group, vertigo and dizziness group, man and woman group. but In the age case, some age group were not effective. Conclusion: Most cases, we gained effective results. These result suggest that Jaeumgeonbi-tang might be effective in treatment of dizziness patients although man or woman, vertigo or dizziness.

Objective: We describe the case of a patient with a cerebellar infarction, with dizziness and ataxia who was treated with traditional Korean medicine. Methods: The patient was treated with the herbal medicine Jaeumgeonbi-tang. Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy were also administered on a daily basis. Dizziness was evaluated using the Numeric Rating Scale, and spontaneous movement was observed daily. Results: After the administration of Jaeumgeonbi-tang, the patient's dizziness and ataxia improved. Conclusion: This case shows that traditional Korean medicine appears to be effective in improving side effects of a cerebellar infarction.

This case report describes a patient with olivopontocerebellar atrophy accompanied by sleep disorder and gait disturbance whose condition was improved by treatment with Korean medicine. The 61-year-old woman, who was diagnosed with olivopontocerebellar atrophy (Multiple Systemic Atrophy-Cerebellum), was admitted to hospital twice and treated with Korean medicine (acupuncture and herbal medicine) and rehabilitation. The Korean medicine was Gwibiondam-tang-gami and Jaeumgeonbi-tang-gami. Clinical symptoms were assessed by the Modified Bathel index, functional independent measurement, Berg balance scale, and Unified Multiple System Atrophy rating scale. A brain MRI at the one-year follow up after onset showed similar progress but clinical symptoms were improved after treatment, and the evaluation index score increased. Multiple system atrophy, a type of degenerative neurological disease, has no targeted treatment. In this situation, although this report describes a single case, Korean medicine treatment could provide a meaningful improvement in the sleep disturbance and gait disorder symptoms of patients with olivopontocerebellar atrophy.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the improved case of Wegener's granulomatosis with Oriental-Western Medicine Treatment. Methods : The patient was treated by herbal medicine(Manhyeongja-san, Banhabaekchulchenma-tang, Jaeumgeonbi-tang), acupuncture and moxa constantly. And she was also treated by glucocorticoids treatment and immunosuppressive therapy provided by department of Rheumatology. The otorhinolaryngologic and the ophthalmologic Western medication treatment were also supplied. The information was collected retrospectively. Results & Conclusions : Chronic otitis media of both ear and hearing loss were improved by Oriental-Western medicine treatment. Ophthalmagia was controlled as less. Dizziness and facial palsy were also disappeared. Oriental-Western medicine treatment may be effective on Wegener's granulomatosis patient when pain controling and fast improvement of symptoms are needed.

A Case of dizziness treated with Singi-hwan is reported. Singi-hwan is an herbal formula historically used for Jing(精) deficiency in Traditional Korean Medicine and dizziness is a common symptom presented in patients with Jing(精) deficiency. An elderly patient diagnosed with senile dizziness was treated using Singi-hwan for ten consecutive days in Dunsan Oriental Hospital, and has shown positive outcome.
