In this paper, design measure were proposed for the construction of terminal systems for airborne platforms, which are key element in the Joint Tactical Data Link System (JTDLS) complete system. The Korean perfect tactical data link (JTDLS) is a communication system to establish an independent tactical data link network and needs to develop a MIDS-LVT (Link-16) communication terminal for datalink. Once a Ground/Navy JTDLS terminal system is established around airborne platform, it will be possible to break away from reliance on NATO-based tactical data link joint operations and establish independent Korean surveillance reconnaissance real-time data sharing and tactical data link operations concepts. in this paper, the essential development elements of airborne platform mounting and operable JTDLS terminals are presented, and the concept of system design is proposed to embody them. Further, improved system performance was analyzed by applying the concepts of complex relative navigation system and Advanced TDMA protocol for the deployment of airborne tactical datalink networks.

In this paper, we studied the method of designing a embedded antenna for mounting on the JTDLS complete aircraft. The proposed antenna satisfies the MIDS-LVT operation frequency band and is designed as a broadband in consideration of expandability. As a result of the design, it was confirmed that the proposed antenna has similar electrical performance to the existing blade antenna and has broadband characteristics. As a result of EM analysis, the antenna was mounted on the top and bottom parts of the aircraft to check the mount of the aircraft, and it was confirmed that both the top and bottom parts had good radiation characteristics. The technology acquired through this study is judged to be applicable to the JTDLS completed aircraft.

ROK Forces operate Link-11, Link-16 and Korean Tactical Data Link System with Link-K(JTDLS: Joint Tactical Data Link System). As the change from Link-11 to Link-22 approaches, in the JTDLS Completed Business will be added tactical data link processing such as Link-22. In this paper, we propose the data management structure for data from multiple tactical data links. Also, we simulate to find ways to process a lot of data quickly using Shared Memory, In-Memory DB, Self Development DB in DLP, and then we confirm the result.
In order to performing the joint operation of Korean army efficiently, informations about surveillance, reconnaissance, and situation awareness need to be possessed jointly. In the first development phase (basis type) of the Korean joint tactical data link system (JTDLS-K), essential tactical information and recognized situation are owned among platforms in common by using existing wireless terminals. In the second development phase (completion type) of the JTDLS-K, a JTDLS which can perform network centric warfare (NCW) will be developed in due consideration of technology development of the basis type and common technology maturity degree. This is a joint battlefield system that can show fighting power simultaneous and polysynthetically through providing command and control messages effectively to each platform, which is participating in the joint and combined operations. In this paper, the development of JTDLS-K with a common data processor based on common link integration processing (CLIP) is described. From the test results of the system presented in this paper, it is demonstrated that quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) signals can be applied to the system.

Modern Warfare is transforming into a Network Centric Warfare(NCW) where surveillance systems, command control systems and strike systems are interconnected with advanced IT technologies to share battlefield situations. The South Korean military is using the various tactical data links(TDL) such as Link-K, Link-16, Link-11 and KVMF depending on each military's battlefield situation. Joint Tactical Data Link System(JTDLS) is a system thar shares tactical information in near-real time between army/navy/air joint forces and additionally establishes Link-22 in Link-K, Link-16 and KVMF. In this paper, we propose the Link-22 system structure, Link-22 message analysis and the interface structure between the tactical data link processor and Link-22 to apply Link-22 to the JTDLS.
Purpose: Simple part or equipment is necessary TRA(Technology Readiness Assessment) or MRA(Manufacturing Readiness Assessment). But sole maturity like TRA, MRA has limit complex systems or SoS(System of System). Especially complex weapon system need from the System Maturity Point of view. This research shows necessity of SRA(System Readiness Assessment). Methods: In case of complex systems, it is essential to SRA(System Readiness Assessment). For the purpose of calculating SRL(System Readiness Level), TRL and IRL must be calculated. And then SRL can obtain know from equation of TRL and IRL. To prove SRA effectiveness, it is calculated SRL of JTDLS(Joint Tactical DataLink System) programs. Results: SRA procedure is proposed and case study shows as examples of JTDLS programs. Although result of TRA is TRL6, result of SRA is not 0.6. From this research, we can know necessity of SRA. Especially complex systems or SoS(System of System) is essential to SRA. Conclusion: SRA(System Readiness Assessment) is required to overcome limitation of sole maturity and to achieve a successful acquisition of high quality weapon system. This research intended to suggest SRA procedure and case study in complex defense system.

In modern warfare, the main factor of triumph is superior situation awareness which leads rapid command decision and precisely guided munition, and TDL(Tactical Data Link) is the main communicational enabler. ROK forces currently operate Link-16 with allied forces and are also developing Korean national data link, Link-K which is also planned to be cooperated with Link-16. Assigning participant and track numbers needs agreement between ROK and allied forces, but ROK forces have exclusive authority in assigning numbers in Link-K. This paper proposes the effective method of exchange participant and track numbers between Link-16 and Link-K, and applicability verification in operational test and evaluation will be also presented.

These days many systems use the gps signal to get their own position. Because it's cheap and accurate and convenient. But, the strength of gps signal is very weak and can be easily interrupted by GPS jamming and GPS spoofing. Normally, fighter can use DME, TACAN, etc to correct their position error when GPS is not working. But, many aircraft which does not have those kinds of hardware need to pay additional cost to get it. In this paper, we propose how to overcome GPS jamming and GPS spoofing by only using data link system. The main purpose of this paper is to make the data link protocol to get an exact position information of own unit at gps error environment.
When quantitative representation and reasoning about space is difficult or impossible in a real world, we can use qualitative representation and reasoning. RCC-8 is a well-known qualitative method for 2D space. RCC-8, in which a basic ontological primitive entity for space is a region, shows the connection-based logics and the conceptual neighbors and transitions of topological status between two regions. The transitions happen by changing position or size of regions. However, more aspects have to be considered for representing and reasoning of the world. We propose a modified and extended method QSR-14 for qualitative spatial representation and reasoning of a dynamic physical 2D world in the gravitation field. We mention the need of a global reference frame and describe QSR-14 in detail for representing and reasoning of physical and chemical changes of a real world using the global reference frame. We believe QSR-14 is appropriate for the qualitative spatial representation and reasoning of a dynamic physical world. The usefulness of QSR-14 is shown with several examples.
